I always find January to be a great month for domain name sales as many (wannabe) entrepreneurs have come up with new businesses ideas, projects, products or services over the holiday period which results in increased traffic and interest in good domain names.

I thought it would be fun to share which domains of yours were the first ones to receive some love in this new decade. Feel free to share any details such as the offer, country of the interested party or if the inquiry has led to a sale.

I'll start:

All received on January 2nd.

Brisk/io - price request
BadMonkey/com - price request
MoralSupport/com - price request

Wow, definitely $XXX,XXX name

thanks, I agree. It's a new acquisition and an offer came in fairly swiftly. Needs to be much higher though. Let's see if the interested party increases his offer :)

I do usually find January better for offers (which I think the OP had mentioned back when this thread was started). So I have had a bunch of offers, but unfortunately most have been rather low.
Couple of better ones were
i/immerse (.) com @ $500
Instant/Form (.) com @ $200
Both rejected.
Offers are one thing, but closed deals are another!...

@DanSanchez @barybadrinath Personally I would have countered on these offers and, if no response, accepted, but apparently you feel strongly about these names going into the future. More power to you! Hope you both get big sales.

I counted with 25k. Actually last year another officer from same company offered me 5.5 k which was increased to this year.

Names we've received offers in the 3 weeks YTD 2020 so far....

dot com
Liquid Vapor - $1000 (countered, no response yet)
Custom Earphones - $250 (countered, no response yet)
Choose Mobility - $500 (countered, no response yet)
Brand Pitch - $150 (countered, no response yet)

dot events
Weather - $10 (rejected)

dot io
Home Automation - $99 (countered, in-communication but not "feeling it" with this prospect).
Relate (inquired, no offer made, replied that domain is for sale)

Most offers that are countered usually end up with no further reply. We do not chase them down. We specifically state in our counter offer that we are negotiable so if they do not like our counter then they can, well -- negotiate. :)

Custom Earphones can cost upward of $2000 a pair but average about $500-$1000 for a decent pair.
Mobility solutions (scooters, golf carts, wheel chairs, etc) average 10x the offer of $500.
We feel Brand Pitch is in the low 4-figure range, probably close to $2000.
Liquid Vapor can be useful to a wide range of buyers but we're looking for more than $1K for that name. We'd be happy with something between 2-3K.

We clearly state that with the purchase of X domain at Y price, the additional traffic can increase their sales by Z amount thereby paying off the initial cost of the domain purchase, which is technically an advertising tax deduction for most companies.

For "weather", we're not going to release that for $10. :) We also have Wicked Weather and some other weather-related dot com names that we always refer to in counter offer replies but in this $10 case, we didnt even reply.

Last year was a stellar year for us with .io so we're not going to give the one-word .io that we have away. Home Automation is a multi billion dollar global market and growing, that domain is worth at least mid-4 figures to a company selling products and services in that space. Given the nature of the lead's replies (asking general questions about home automation itself, there is not much expectation for this lead to convert but you never know and you always reply honestly and informatively, but succinctly so you dont waste time with a tire kicker. Someone also inquired about "relate" being available or not (though its clear that it is) but made no offer. We replied and asked if they'd like to make an offer and so far no reply. Probably a tire kicker too.

A good deal of the inquires are only a week to 10 days old so its way too soon to declare the lead has gone cold. This is January thus far, not bad in terms of inbound inquiries which is 100% of our method of selling..... :)

a few smaller sales so far... nothing really amazing for january.

currently negotiating a good short VR related .ca name by email bodis inquiry.. wth some russian guy

he started at $300.. went to $500.. im like $700.

i only own a few .ca.. like 20-30

and i very rarely reg new ones now... stilll sometimes sales do happen. but I find that extension too random and risky... im talking handregs of course... u can probably invest 100s or 1000s into .ca and increase your sale chances.. then again, maybe not...

i also revived an older gd offer a few days ago... which is yet another great feature of gd whereby u can go back in time and make lower offers to your previous counteroffers.. and negotiations can restart.. happened few times to me.. qand im sure overall on gd, by this method, buyers sellers and gd auctions, are able to generate countless additional sales that otherwise without this option would just die and be a dead end. so thumbs up for this! so yeah i revived an old $20 offer from few motnhs back... which i then countered 2k... i now sent a counter of 1k for it... buyer replied with 150$... he is at 500$ now... im at 650$.... so this should sell soon. its an io.

so these are my current domain adventures.. i give abit more detail to benefit others as well.. cause not everyone may know of this gd revival feature.

cheers, all the best in february sales!

cool
did you do any outbound on it?

I did and I quickly found out that the ideal end-user had already been pestered about the domain and wasn't interested. I only did outbound to about 3 potentials. The offer came about a month after my efforts and wasn't from one of the 3 I reached out to (as far as I can tell).

How much did your counter?

Low $x,xxx based off similar reported sales from Namebio. I hadn't set a BIN before my counter so I tried my luck.

I immediately realized I need to update many of my minimum offers for various names across all platforms, because there are just some names I'm going to try to reach on and any minimum offer needs to be something I'd be able to sleep with if necessary.
