i have just checked domain availability on whois.com, used estibot for valuation, checked on hosterstats for ns history and in the next 3 hours domain is gone to the chinese registrar. does some websites track your cookies and searches or may be it was namepros?🤔

I prefer Brave to Chrome. It's Chrome without the Googleness. Not saying it would resolve this issue. But I prefer it. Still can use all the Google Add-Ons. Of course a must for almost any browser.

Just simple command on Linux.

i wouldn't trade chrome for anything
not when i was on windows before
and espeically not now since I Discovered CloudReady OS. which i love.
its hard to answer your issue.. because the odds however unlikely in both cases, are still more in favor of someone just regging your name within those 3 hours (7 billion people remember? ;) than someone tracking your computer moves.

Repeat the process without changing a thing.
Same steps in the same order with another available domain.
This has happened to me and many others here on NP and other forums. I would love to get to the bottom of this and find out what's being tracked.

Jurgen is correct. Instead of using a service or querying through a registrar, use the above command to query the registry directly.

If you are a Windows user, you can perform the same command after downloading Whois v1.xx directly from Microsoft: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/whois

You may be experiencing "domain name front running". (If a name you search is highly sought after, you may just be losing to another domainer.)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domain_name_front_running

The term was coined by domain investor and retired stockbroker Daniel Stager.[1][2] ICANN "likens this activity to front running in stock and commodities markets and calls this behavior domain name front running. ... There does not appear to be a strong set of standards and practices to conclude whether monitoring availability checks is an acceptable or unacceptable practice."[3][4]

sounds like too much check, check, checking to me

if it's available at the registrar, then register it

why do you need bot result and ns history?

imo...

ughhh
Been meaning to do a study on this for a while.

The problem is its only valid if you're looking up valuable stuff.
Nobody wants to grab your garbage.

I need a list of above average reg fee domains to look up worth stealing..... -_-

If you check it buy it with experience of course. Why delay leave names you umm over to find are gone.

OP: I'm currently building a domainer's platform that will include the things you're looking for (bulk free whois, bulk domain availability search), about 20 different tools, processing, keyword generators, drop monitoring. It will be free for NP members; most tools will remain free except some high-load ones. I'm actually opening my custom tools to the world. It's an exciting project and I know it will be appreciated. Your needs will definitely be met by the free tools.

Please follow me if you want. I will soon post a standard thread about the DomainBelt.com project, it will be live by the end of this month. Or keep tuned here on NP as I'm going to post updates periodically.

I had your issue in the past, but there were also coincidences... So it depends.

If it's an unlikely handreg, then it's probably foul play. But if it's a recently dropped one, it might still be a natural occurrence. Some domain registrars and tools are definitely selling / using users data in an incorrect manner though. Including some BIG registrars.
