I've noticed quite a few of my domain names go in pending sale status at Afternic, which is the sale as "on hold" status at GoDaddy, and the sales did not complete. I asked Alan Shiflett from GoDaddy to tell me what it means when a name is in one of those statuses and why sales sometimes do not go through after being in those statuses. He gave me an extensive reply: https://domaininvesting.com/what-on-hold-pending-sale-means-at-afternic-godaddy/

Whenever I see "pending sale" on AN, domain was never sold at the end... It usually stands pending for 7 days and then go back to list.
This is just my experience, other members said there is roughly 50/50 chance for sale to go through

I must be one of those lucky ones. All my sales go straight through!

I had a pending sale once on a five figure name but then it disappeared :(

I don't check Afternic enough to have seen other times... but that one hurt

Just had one of my domains go from pending sales to listing yesterday. Funny thing was I let the name expire 2 weeks ago with no plans of renewing it.

I was surprised that someone wanted to buy it a couple of days after expiry. But I wasn't tempted enough to renew it again without having the deal in the bag.

Can't tell if the pending sale was a real buy that opted out or a system glitch. Either way, don't care at the moment as I have already deleted my listings as the name goes through the expiry process

It's a real problem when selling, I often have customers puting the domain in pending sale on afternic and already bought over @DAN.COM landing.
Sometimes pending sales takes more than week to allow me transfering the domain due to lock afternic put on the domain..

That is not something we are going to change. If your name is on hold it means someone somewhere in the Afternic network of 100+ partners is trying to buy it. There are various legitimate reasons for it to go on hold and that time frame is probably not going to change as some of the partners need that much time to check for fraud or other legitimate issues.

The problem is that your partners put domains on hold when the domain is in cart, and the domain stay in cart for more than a week, even if it's unpaid.
Whereas it's already paid elsewhere and the process cannot be processed. I currently hav 3 or 4 domains in this states, and customers cannot understand why I cannot process the transfer !

And even when the "pending sale" disapear the domain still locked for a few hours/days.

two pending sales 3K each. Any feedback, guys? Anyone had something similar on AN and what happened? is it BS? haha
All my previous sales came from GoDaddy,
don't know how the AN premium network operates.

Thanks, mate. I think fast transfer was activated for both names, but now it seems deactivated. Do you know why?

Sorted. After reading the comments here, I thought most pending sales don't happen. Happy that my first pending sale did happen. Fingers crossed for the second that's still pending and it's 3k as well.

The 2nd is a completed sale as well. In my case, 2 AN pending sales completed successfully within 48 hours. 5900K sales with 15% commission.
