So sad both parents are dead and with their daughter.May they Rest in Peace.

Yes people die everyday. It is sad. No matter what, It is always sad when people die.

There are very few people that come into our lives everyday though.

If you spend time here at NP everyday, you will eventually start to feel an attachment to certain members who you look up to. You don't know them at all. They are just an avatar to many but you feel a bit of a connection to some that you start to follow. So, you almost feel like you do start to know that member you follow now. Connection. It's human nature.

Same thing w/Celebs. They are in our face for 5/10/20 years on our TV's, laptops, desktops etc.. We watch them grow. We watch them f-up. We watch them grow up. We start to feel a connection especially if it is something that we are interested in. NBA has millions of International fans. Kobe was a huge deal in the NBA. Many followed his career for 20 years. Many felt like they knew him.

The thing that really touches me about this tragedy was that he was in the helicopter w/his daughter. He was finally retired for a few years and spent tons of time w/his 13 yr old daughter Gianna. I saw a video recently, maybe a month ago with Gianna playing in a Junior High game and she was awesome. He was at a place in his life where he could spend time developing her into possibly one of the best females that ever played the game.

I've coached my own kids in Soccer, Baseball, & Basketball. That is one of the greatest feelings in the world as a dad. That reason alone makes this sad to me.

I feel horrible for the other passengers and their families, especially if they heard it on TMZ or Social Media first. Reports are still coming in that there was 5, then 8, now 9. Nothing has been confirmed 100% as of yet but the story is just getting sadder and sadder.

Sometimes there is a death we hear about that makes you start to question your own mortality.
Relationship issues that you may have not resolved yet.
Your own goals that you haven't completed or even started yet.
Your own purpose.
Your own legacy, etc.
So yeah, I completely understand why this is a sad day to many.

This is one of those tragedies that makes me think a little more about those things.

RIP to all.

He was an impressive player, no doubt. I bet most of the people that died today have impressive qualities...

let’s give it a break KEITH. You can start your own thread if you wish. Sometimes people just needs to air out their thoughts when someone they know and appreciate passes away.

Not to be insensitive but why do we care about this death vs the other 150,000 people that died today? Is it because he’s famous that we react irrationally?
People like you give this forum a bad name.

Only you would want to troll a married man who died alongside his daughter oh and not to mention one of the best athletes of all time

shame on you

Everyone posting on social media because someone famous died.

People put more energy into this type of news than they do when a friend dies.

I’ll admit that anyone dying is sad but to cry out for one individual when thousands of others also died today is a weird social issue.
Agreed there, people care way too much about people who are well known and loaded. They could careless how many people die everyday of hunger or how many people endure atrocious whether and are homeless.

What's with the stupid posting. Again, people can mourn Kobe and still mourn other people, care about other issues. You just mentioned the homeless, well that was an issue he cared about as well:

Kobe Bryant: Helping the homeless

You have nothing better than to argue everytime and I believe the only stupid here is you. Stop quoting my posts or speak some sense. It is true. I dont agree with everything @Keith all the time but he raised a valid point. I didnt see you quoting his OP so take a ride or speak well. Focus also, I did not say he could careless for people, whether homeless or not so not sure why you would post a video like this when it is not related to him cause there was no claim he did not care for people.

Your post was stupid. I explained why it was stupid. And you said I didn't quote Keith, I did. It's there for anybody to see.

You said about the people mourning Kobe:

"They could careless how many people die everyday of hunger or how many people endure atrocious whether and are homeless."

That is stupid. It's just some dumb, general statement about a whole bunch of people you don't know. Yet again, people can care about more than 1 thing. They can be upset or sympathize with what happened and still care about other things.

The question of mourning is a subjective question. People mourn the most about the people they knew. Nobody has to mourn about Kobe Brynt, but those who doesn't shoud avoid these thread and let those who mourn to show respect for a sports legend like Kobe Bryant.

A plenty of people around the world lost their hero and you should respect that.

Terrible assumption as always from you. At least have the decency to quote the whole message. I was not talking or accusing anyone mourning Kobe's death. Here is what I wrote again

Read the green part. I said People care way too much about people who are well-known or loaded. Focus on the use of "people" twice on my sentence. Granted English is not my first language, however, I dont think that sentence I wrote is so bad it will make you interpret it like that.

This is my point exactly. People grieve because they watched basketball but could care less that 150,000 other people died today.

Something very wrong with society.
along with him. 4
He was an impressive player, no doubt. I bet most of the people that died today have impressive qualities...

i think there were 4-5 people along with him, also died in the accident. condolences to them as well. Big loss for each and every family involved in this.

I am in medicine, i see this on daily basis. Life is temporary and short, but we fail to realize this on every daily basis, and people tend to think life is permanent, and get carried away and become selfish at times. If everyone remember on daily basis that one day death is ultimate outcome, then we would be more kind to each other, and would not be selfish.

But reality of the matter is, no one realize that until death. To sum this up, and seeing this in my clinicals in ICU or ER trauma

Life is Temporary, and Death is permanent. Enjoy till it last, embrace what you love, and put differences aside, and love each other and your family and loved ones.

It's just over 24 hours since hearing about the devastating news. The shock and denial stage is ending, as the next stages of grief takeover.

Kobe united Southern California like nobody ever has or ever will. He brought everyone together. All demographics. All political parties. All ages. All social statuses from the poorest of neighborhoods to the most wealthy, he was someone that brought everyone together.

Most recently he purchased a few basketball courts in an industrial building launching the Mamba Sports Academy. He did so for the youth, not just from LA, but for youth from around the world. It was him giving back. I live a jog away from the facility. My son was fortunate enough to play basketball with players from around the world, as everyone was wishing to come to Kobe's facility. Weekends were filled with parents and kids, from all demographics, enjoying basketball and life. It was exactly how Kobe wanted it.

Crazy as it is, Kobe was on his way to the facility when the tragedy struck. He was living his life the same way as many of us do. Spending his time with his kids, with other kids, coaching and enjoying the two things he loved most, kids and basketball. He passed doing what he loved.

Unfortunately, the Mamba Sports Academy is closed indefinitely. The future remains uncertain. My hope is that Kobe's legacy continues throughout different ways. He united us, he loved community, he loved and mentored our youth. He inspired kids so young they never saw him play on live television. Kobe's legacy is irreplaceable.

RIP

Eagle County Sheriff investigators first confronted Bryant
with the sexual assault accusation on July 2. During the July 2003
interview with investigators, Bryant initially told investigators
that he did not have sexual intercourse with his accuser,
a 19-year-old woman who worked at the hotel where Bryant was staying.
When the officers told Bryant that she had taken an exam that
yielded physical evidence, such as semen, Bryant admitted to having
sexual intercourse with her, but stated that the sex was consensual.
When asked about bruises on the accuser's neck, Bryant admitted to
"strangling" her during the encounter, stating that he held her
"from the back" "around her neck", that strangling during sex was
his "thing" and that he had a pattern of strangling a different sex
partner (not his wife) during their recurring sexual encounters.
When asked how hard he was holding onto her neck, Bryant stated,
"My hands are strong. I don't know." Bryant stated that he assumed
consent for sex because of the accuser's body language such as
her kissing him, putting her hand on his penis, and bending over,
but that he did not explicitly ask for her consent during the
encounter. Bryant later said that he believed his accuser was
capable of saying no because during the encounter he asked her
if he could "cum on her face", and she said no.

In August 2004, the accuser filed a civil lawsuit against Bryant
over the incident. In March 2005, the two parties settled that lawsuit.
The terms of the settlement were not disclosed to the public.
The Los Angeles Times reported that legal experts estimated the
settlement was more than $2.5 million.

Being a father is the thing I am most proud of in this world; it’s my greatest accomplishment,” he said. “I’ve learned so much, but perhaps the most profound thing has been the fierce, unconditional love you have for your children when you become a parent. I’m blessed to have had that experience four times now and there’s nothing more powerful in this world.”

Btw; Re; to ur post which happened 15 yrs ago
“Newly released court papers in the rape case against Kobe Bryant suggest that his accuser had sex with a second man not long after her encounter with Mr. Bryant.”
Try not to speak ill of the dead. He’s dead, and didnt deserve to die. RIP.

NamePros should do what the Washington Post did to their inconsiderate news reporter..
