First...i'd like to apologize to those of my friends who are offended by my referring to domaining as a Game, but rest assured it's just a euphemism (intended to amuse:xf.smile:). Like no two snowflakes being exactly alike, no two domainers are here for the exact same reasons.

I know some of you are here to make a living, put a roof over your heads and to put food on your table. Some of you are here part time and simply enjoy domaining like it's a puppy or your best friend. Then some of you are here because you're a hobbyist, and it's no different than those who enjoy the slots, blackjack, or the lottery.

I'm here because I enjoy a challenge, especially the challenge of learning about something new and looking for ways to improve it and make it better. This in addition to the fact that I've been naming things all my life from businesses, to dogs, to boats, to nicknames to regions of the world like "757" a rebranding of what was formerly known as "Hampton Roads".

I know some of you have been around this industry since 2000 or before, but I need to remind you My Mantra is "Make Something Happen" for which I registered the domain almost 20 years ago. Like I said, I've been naming things my whole life and that's what keeps me in the game. What keeps you in the game?

Not cool man.
Maybe this is a little "cooler", I just got back from church, and my incredible pastor said in his Sermon, "True Wealth is What you Give Away", thus I just hand reg'd GiveAwayDomains.com.

btw, it's not for sale, and few of you will understand why I bought it and how I plan on using it. Is that cool:xf.cool: oldtimer might know:xf.wink:....God Bless!

To serve as a redirect to the NP free domains forum?

Seriously though, what would be "cooler" is seeing you apologizing for once.

There's no need to show this level of disrespect to people who are great at what they do and contribute a lot to this forum and the domaining world.

"
If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
"

The entire paragraph I quoted before is bound to evoke reactions that will be off topic and set further bad blood between you and some members. Unnecessary.

Edit: looks like it was reported and just deleted by mods. Let's carry on.

OK.....NameDeck I apologize for referencing a group of NP members who I see as having stalked and harassed me here on NP for almost two years now. I've been told I'm bad for this industry, especially when I question domain ethics, if there is such a thing? I feel like a transparent whistle blower whose motives are only "good faith" in nature. That's all I need to say....maybe what I believe to be stalking and harassment will disappear someday. I'll pray that it does.

Now back to why I registered GiveAwayDomains.com earlier today. I was motivated to register this domain for a new business model that I plan to implement and test sometime in the not to distant future. Regardless of what you may think, I believe the vast majority of people in this world are honest and want to do the right thing. As such Derek, if I own a domain that you as an "end user" is interested in, I would be willing to give it to you in "Good Faith" just as long as my "Good Faith" gesture is recognized in someway down the road. This would be the equivalent of a handshake agreement with no strings attached. Remember my Pastor saying, "true wealth is what you give away".... i just so happen to believe my Pastor's words, and what you give away comes back to you sometimes 10X:xf.smile:

You mention 3 "types of domainers"

1) Full time (make a living)
2) Part time
3) Hobbyist

Which one are you? Preferably without mentioning a domain you have regged or the reasons behind why you are a disruptive innovator......

Ok, so you're a superstitious domainer.

Inquiring minds would like to know which of the 8,000-12,000 gods that has ever been worshipped you believe in.

I'm probably a little bit of all three, or a trybrid:xf.smile: Why you see me as a disruptive innovator is because of the way this game is being played, which turns out to be to the detriment of "end users" or my target market.

I've always been a business innovator, but not a "disruptive" one until now. My original intent getting involved in this industry was to buy, sell and develop a few domains. Everything was going rather smoothly until I was accused of being a cyber squatter:xf.frown: And similar to the way I've been accused of being a racist simply because I'm a 72 year old self employed white male (white privilege) I find it very offensive. NickB, I've personally employed hundreds of people in my life, and I could care less whether you're red, white, blue, male, female, gay, bisexual, transgender etc. Whoever is best at what they do gets the job. Politically I've been a moderate/independent all my life, and referring to me as a cyber squatter was almost as offensive as being called a racist....make sense?

There, I didn't mention a domain name and I addressed your question about being a disruptive innovator. Any more questions?

Did you just read my article on LinkedIn regarding diversity & inclusion? 🤔

A disruptive innovator is good, but they must actually innovate and not just talk about innovation.....

See? That didn't hurt now did it :) I appreciate it.

I can see how giving away domains like that might work for you. Honestly, if you're in this game to make money it's not gonna pan out. However, your game, your rules. That's the beauty of it.

In Richard's defense. He said his pastor inspired him with a sermon. Seems pretty obvious what God he believes in. No need to ridicule him because of his beliefs. Uncalled for and in bad taste if you ask me.

Didn't question you at all, I asked you a question though which is slightly different but it gave you a good chance to plug one of your innovations...
Oh...i thought you were insinuating I'm not a diverse, inclusive innovator. Sorry for the confusion:xf.confused:

No - the only thing we will probably disagree with is that I do not see you as a domain innovator. We can agree to disagree on this point.

Everything else we would probably get on quite well with......

Not obvious at all considering there are approximately 8,000-12,000 gods to choose from. How is that bad taste?

Derek...the "Give Away" model (forget it's a domain) reminds me of when I was a kid (12-16) years old and I would shovel (snow) driveways and walkways in my neighborhood. I lived in a residential neighborhood consisting of about 60-75 homes just north of Washington DC. When it snowed I would start shoveling a neighbors driveway, and when they came home I'd have most of it done. When they said they hadn't asked for me to shovel their driveway I'd say, that's OK I wasn't going to charge you, I wanted to do it, I had nothing to do, and I needed the exercise anyway. Well guess what...they insisted on paying me, and when asked how much, I'd say I didn't know, and invariably they would give me more than what I would have asked for....see they didn't want to get a reputation for being cheap. How could this model possibly work where I give away domains that cost me $8? I don't know Derek, but it may be worth a try.

I really do have my Pastor to thank for the idea, and he's one of the coolest people I know. Regardless of whether you're a Jew, a Christian, a Muslim, a Hindu, Atheist or Agnostic, the same principles apply. Make sense?

Seriously? I bet if we were to poll this 99.999% would get it right, the rest obviously being funny.

He mentioned a sermon as an inspiration he used to register a domain. You bring up his religion to derail this thread and start asking questions that have no value to this discussion at all.

To me that's questioning someone's faith where it is obvious. That is bad taste and unnecessary.

I've had my own differences with OP but never ever concidered lowering myself to bring up religion.

You should be in charity :)

Sure. 100% agree.

Derek...you actually inspired PastorBrands:xf.smile: that I plan on giving away to my Pastor for his idea for GiveAwayDomains:xf.wink:

Regardless of where any of this goes, thank you for hanging in there with me(y)

What keeps you in the game?

Challenge.

I've done many things in my life...built and sold businesses. This, by far (even surpassing day/hour trading), is the most difficult thing I've done considering the extended time sometimes needed for a payoff...especially if I'm making a profit on a regular basis. When a name sells for what I consider to be a fair price, I can ride that crazy wave for a month.

Mister Funsky....we're a lot alike in many ways, but my "Challenge" here and yours are diametrically opposed. Rather than get into that, I will tell you 9Time™ is progressing nicely and my personal handicap continues to improve despite just using 3 clubs. My CEO is returning from the PGA Merhandise show in Orlando tonight, and I can't wait to get the feedback. Thanks again,:xf.wink: and I hope you catch another crazy wave:xf.wink:

"True Wealth is Measured by What You Give Away"

I know I can't mention the domain this quote by my Pastor inspired, but I will post it at the Reg of the day along with another domain I bought to give to my Pastor.

Thanks Derek!

Either drop good names or sell them that is what keeps us in the game. Trying not to buy too many to manage.
