Hello,

You know as GoDaddy's CEO will be at Namescon.
If we are really serious about it.
We could get @Bob Hawkes to deliver a message to Mr Bhutani.
Like the official namepros community (domainers) representative.
Since it's a domainer's conference.
And namepros being the main spot for domainers.
We could easily have someone deliver a message on behalf of domainers.
Someone trustworthy, immune to external influences, and bribery.

Our message:
we want GoDaddy landers and free Whois privacy with discount club lol.
I'm dead serious.

Slow payment, apparently good for fraud protection, crypto payment, let's try to not mention those non-essential points. It's a large corporation.

Keep it simple. Like 3 points.

100% GoDaddy branded landers.
Free Whois privacy with discount club.
Something else.

I suspect he will have 2 bodyguards.
@Joe Styler @Paul Nicks

2 bodyguards which could be our door to Mr Bhutani, if the namepros community is dead serious about conveying its official message through @Bob Hawkes

As a new CEO he must be curious or willing to learn about domain investing or something.
Don't think he's ever returning to Namescon after that lol.
Sometimes stars align. I believe this is our chance.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Domain broker? Unless they changed something (not an easy task to retreive whois email anymore), it was always a series of emails like

We have an offer for <...>.
We've got a client interested in buying your domain. Please open this email to view and respond to their initial offer.

... and providing a platform for an exchange of offers between the owner and the potential buyer, should a response be received. They also send transactions >$5K to escrow .com, so a number of sales sales may not be completed (or even started) as the result.

Hopefully they already changed something @ this domainbuy service, or will change soon...
Yes and it helps with overcoming burdens.

"We contact the owner and negotiate on your behalf.
We'll try and get you the domain at the lowest possible price (no worries, your identity remains confidential)."
That's quite a hook.

If GoDaddy friendly explains on TV ads it's no longer 1998 buying domains is good for business, people are naturally going to buy domains.

@Bob Hawkes if you were to pick a heir, who would that be?

Oh no that sounds ominous! :xf.eek: LOL

I know what you mean, but I don't think it is my place to suggest someone, and I don't actually very precisely know who is attending this year.

Your initiative was good but these things sometimes take time. Perhaps best to encourage any who will be at NamesCon to attend the GD CEO session and as possible ask questions related to NamePros member interests.

Thank you for your work in starting and coordinating this thread.

Bob

I wish godaddy would enable their sales landers to domain sellers.
Most enduser's prefer godaddy as a registrar and we could sell more at godaddy if they provide godaddy nameservers.

1. Get rid of "discount club" and just price competitively instead of charging astronomical fees for everything.

2. Don't allow any API access to the expired auctions so it's fair for all.

Apart from these two things GD is pretty good really.
How about enabling transactions with crypto?
And over here where I'm, we don't get the live chat support feature. Ain't that biased?

Excellent point too!

I've made around 50% of sales via Godaddy, I would love to see them improve really!

I think lets start soft, give us FREE privacy, most other do, don't charge $4.99 per domain name to have a "reserve" on a persons auction, While most don't see paying $89 a year a huge deal, divide it by thousands upon thousands of domainers, stop charging domainers a $89 fee per year to register a .com for 8.88. when we can get the same rate without paying $89 to do so, with just as good of services overall

Crypto transactions is not something I'm bothered about personally but it's certainly an idea they should be considering.

GD are by far the biggest registrar in terms of domains held and notoriety and as such should be leading the drive for innovation in the sector but they seem to fine with just ticking along with a very average platform and zero innovation. Don't get me wrong, in my experience they don't do anything badly but they also don't do anything great or above average that makes them stand out. The result is that I have no reason to stay when I can get a better service for less cost at other registrars.

GD aren't motivated to up their game when they have such a huge customer base of people with just one or two domains for their business (not domainers) who aren't concerned with registration prices and whois privacey etc.

Totally understand and agree with your point.

I would love to see it because for some reason, where I'm i only receive fund via wire transfer not even PayPal, and i can only make purchase with card not even PayPal.

Certainly it will be for their own good and for ours too, if they rectify alot!
Good luck to them!

I would like GD to use special servers or something for domain names that are being financed. There must be some solution to avoid repossessing domains on unsuspecting aftermarket buyers.

Perhaps they can improve their payment verification process.

Most auctions with bidding wars are expiring auctions.
A separate category with a $29 premium auction listing fees.

Similar to Sedo ("curated"), but $29, can't hurt.

I understand that the privacy fee is a huge profit center for them.

They are king of the onesie and twosie domain owner and they (domain owners) don't know any better regarding the privacy issue and its cost to a registrar. It should be included as part of the domain club and/or automatic for anyone that has 25 or more domains registered with them.

This was the icing on the cake (along with another issue) that caused me to move hundreds of names I had there for years away.

One thing for sure we'll have our platform.

Afternic is already remembering our column arrangements.
