Guys and Girls before you submit an auction on Namepros can you have the decency to remove your domain from all other marketplaces......

I see it all the time where there is an auction thread on here and the OP has the name listed everywhere else at the same time.

I am pretty sure some people inflate their Sedo, DAN, Epik, Afternic (etc etc) prices to try and lure in unsuspecting bidders/buyers.......

Do the right thing and remove your name and make the auction exclusive to Namepros.....

Also, If you sell a name on Namepros via make offer or BIN, remove it from all market places after the transaction has been completed....

Not hard to do.......

Very often it could have been listed by previous owners. Not by the current owner.

Well said and most of the time when I bought a domain or won at auction here on NP, I had to message the seller to remove it from Marketplaces as I could not list them. Some of them I had to message several times😅 I guess they tend to forget sometimes.

Current owner has the responsibility surely?

Sorry... Can you explain? I don't see anything bad in it, you may dissolve my ignorance...

Before acquiring any domain here, you should just ask the seller to remove the domain from all the platforms.

If you put a name up for auction that name should not be available for sale anywhere else imo.....

If someone hits BIN on another platform while you have an auction active on here what would you do?

Nope it's not the current owners responsibility if they never placed them at someplace where he doesn't even have an account, or where in most cases he is not recognized as the owner, and so the site won't take instructions from him. He should, of course bare responsibility for any domains where he has placed them, to remove them.

I understand if they don't have an account somewhere but if someone has owned a domain for multiple months and not bothered to remove it from other marketplaces so they can list it, what does that say about the owner? How can this not be their responsibility?

Most people have an afternic account for example....

So you’re suggesting that to start an NP auction one must consent to it being exclusive to NP? Is this to lock in the inevitable lowball NP pricing, and to be sure the owner doesn’t make more if it were to get sold for a higher price elsewhere before it ends on NP? Is this also a requirement at other auction places - instantly delist ones domains from everywhere once you list it there? If not, don’t understand why NP auctions should be different, unless NPs rules prevent one from ending auctions due to item ‘no longer being available’.

Are NP auctions exclusive? I think they are.......

@johnn Personally, if I am bidding on an auction and it got pulled because that person received a better offer elsewhere I would be pissed. It wastes my time looking into the name and keeping an eye on the bidding.....

Also I do think people are raising their BIN's on their landing pages when they start an auction here trying to entice people to bid......

Yes, every auction should be exclusive. Same as BINs, unless you are fast enough and can guarantee immediate removal from other platforms. Otherwise, it is misleading to participants/buyers.

We can't be backing out of an auction once its began, because the name happened to win elsewhere. Something called commitments.

So what you ‘think’, must be?
On the move, will check the rules and get back to you, if that is ok with you?

Can't insert sarcasm above though...🤔

If you want. I'm just trying to understand the justification of why something should be different here than elsewhere because 'you' want it to be. And no worries, your sarcasm came thru.

There is an 'exclusive' namepros section here at namepros, did you checked it out to see how many names are listed there...I could guess something like 1% of the total, so probably in that direction will go all namepros marketplace, if everything is exclusive. How about BB, BP, SH listed domains, you want them removed? So you kill all brandables listed domains market at namepros? How about delisting from afternic and sedo fast transfer networks, so that the seller to get something like 1-2% of the price. How about if the auction runs for days/weeks without hitting the minimum price requirement, than you waist days/weeks with that domain without being listed anywhere. If you run a godaddy auction, do they check all the other marketplaces if you have removed the domain? It happens from time to time, but not very often so that it could be an issue.

For those saying the names should not be exclusive:

If you have an auction with bidders and you back out of the auction midway (in this case, sold on another marketplace), do the moderators not take action?

It's the mirror opposite of making a bid on an auction and not paying.

If you invested your time tracking/bidding on an auction for a week — only to have the owner cancel — would that be fair to you?

Happens all the time at various marketplaces. A name, or anything, is not sold until it's sold.

I see nothing wrong with having both as long as there is no buy now price at marketplace.

(Not arguing for either side here, just saying)

Marketplaces have rules for this set in place. Sedo will ban non-payers, etc.

This just opens a can of worms in the end; If I don't like the price my NamePros auction is going to end at, I could just "cancel" the auction if we were allowed to prematurely end.

Did you ever tried godaddy auctions, how many of them were cancelled? It's a compromise between reducing a marketplace to a fraction of what it is or having an auction cancelled out of 30-40 you participate.
