Hi,

I am new here. I have been reading discussions and experienced domainers keep saying that most of the people don't make a living by selling domain names.

Was just wondering, does anyone here do this full time i.e. make a living our of it?

If not, what do you do for a living?(I hope it is not considered rude asking this question :tightlyclosedeyes:)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I also resell clothes on ebay, etsy, depop. Started after school when needed my own money. Worked on the building objects, wooden factory. Now I like to invest in startups. Invested in more than 100 companies! I really want to get good higher education! Definitely will spend money on this when I will sell domain at good price!

That’s what my mother thinks. I am actually a Lobbyist (Governmental Affairs Consultant) so sometimes the above is more well received!

I was so happy thinking you played piano in some kind of vampire waystation.

Wow Bob! And impressed! Indeed you are a very experienced personality! It's obvious!:xf.wink: Great life portfolio(y):xf.love:
Even though it has been discussed previously, Jurgen, I see value in doing it again. New people come to NamePros all the time, and some may have missed previous threads, or not contributed then. I am fascinated by the diversity of other professions that people have! I hope many more will add their contributions to this thread.

I gave my personal answer here, but thought it would be fun to share (almost) all of the jobs I have done over many decades, so here is that list! Scientist, teacher, researcher, writer, design and layout, analysis, berry picker, vegetable stand operator, wholesale grocery shipping clerk, photographer, playground supervisor, climate scientist, professor, speaker, coder, greeting card and novelty sales, babysitter, usher, home-based business, blogger, reviewer, editor, educational resources developer, administrator, construction site assistant, darkroom operator, baking, meteorite sales, calendar maker, event organizer, workshop leader, publisher, canteen operator, and probably a few I have forgotten. Oh and domain analyst and seller.:xf.grin:

Well, I'm a medical student. With two more years to graduate!
Domaining is more of what I like to do, and over the months since I started, it's been a great source of income to me, started six months ago and I have made 600% my investment.
That's pretty much all I do, go to school, and domaining!

Ohhh, and I love to read new things, NOT novel, NOT medical books, but just news and other productive articles. Also, I practice webdesign and graphic design!

Quite an interesting thread to start

Welcome to Namepros.

Domaining is just a side gig.

My main job is a 28-day rotation as an electronics engineer on an offshore oil rig. On my 28 days time off, if I am not attending any trainings, I do the domaining thing and also some work on my website.

So half of the year is for work, the other half is for other stuff of which domaining is part of
An interesting (and rare) type of job here in Nigeria!:xf.smile:

I work in real estate / property management as full time job.
Domaining & Webdev are a hobby for me and i don't include them in my resume (yet) even I've been around for many years.

Haha I included everything from when I was about ten and started trying to make a few dollars, and now a senior, so lots of things, most of which did not generate much revenue. The vast majority of my life I did the same few things, teach and research and a bit of admin. But thanks for your comment. It was fun remembering the various things I had done.

Hi, Bob! You definitely can be proud by yourself! You have tried yourself in so many niches and got a lot of life experience!!!! You definitely is a very interesting person to communicate with!
Most of them were very short term trials of things, starting at about age 10 I think when I started to want to earn money. The vast majority of my time was spent many decades in essentially the same thing. But it was fun to think of all the ways I made money as a child, university student, and then later in life. I think, even when we don't make much money from some things, we do learn from the experiences. The same is true in domaining. We learn many things apart from the money we may make, or not, along the way.

Really interesting to read all of the responses from everyone!

Bob
