Showcase your best EMD (exact match domain) -- that means one domain per member, please!

EMD's should be .com!

Looking forward to seeing some quality showcases...

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
But I get now what you are saying. Category killer isn't just EMD but it has to be one with a ton of monthly searches.

my .bet's have good numbers.

Line -232,047
Express - 774,826
Deposit -44,582

There are literally thousands of extensions. EMD in some random extension doesn't really mean much at this point.

I am not a fan of new gTLD in general but to me category killer terms in those would be like real.estate, wedding.photography, car.insurance, etc.

I don't think a good term, but in a random extension can really be considered a category killer.

Yes, exactly. And even then, the killer EMD is still the .com. Because you know the majority of businesses in that field would pick the .com over the other extension if given a choice of having either at equal cost.

Ha ha! I suppose I singled them out because there were so many. :)

Some others in the thread have said that EMD is a subjective term. I feel differently. When I see/say EMD, I'm thinking of domain names that exactly match the generic name of a product or service that one would use if they were:
  • Seeking to buy that product or service; or
  • Engaged in the business of selling that product or service
For me this excludes all of the following:
  • Names with adverbs or adjectives (i.e. Best, Fast, Top)
  • Names with incorrect grammar (i.e. WomenAccessories… sorry for picking on that one @jamaltq)
  • Geo names (unless the geo name is crucial to the product or service name, like in MiamiTours)
I know opinions vary, but the general understanding of EMDs in the domain community has been a pet peeve of mine.

My view: If you truly own an EMD, it should be the #1 authoritative name on the internet that refers to that product or service.

And yes, it should be .com. Why? Because when we say EMD, there can only be one perfect match for each product or service (with possible exceptions made for singular versus plural, where either could have EMD value).

I see I see. ok so scratch my .bet's and .pet's I have a ton of EMD but based on this thread I have to admit they are not "category killers" from the looks of it by definition if I type most of the domains I list that ARE .com's they don't have much monthly search volumes. I think that is the "litmus test" as far as a domain being a "category killer".

But still I still think my Names are "Killers"

I guess that why I am the ....................................... wait for it!

NameKiller.com

But officially thanks to this thread I can "officially" say my domains are category "kill"ers.

CategoryKill.com

but here's a "category" killer. Fresh Reg.

Ba**byJa**bba.com :xf.grin:

lol mine is "close enough". :xf.grin:

I mean each one I posted is an Exact match for something if you take the time to Google it. At first glance they don't look much but if you dig deep or in most cases not too deep you will see why they are EMD?

If I have been misinformed all this time then please do school me. (no sarcasm here) I genuinely want to know. Thanks.

I am confused now because EMD is pretty logical Exact Match Domain. Pretty self explanatory or so I thought.

I am prepared to look dumb now.

I see SmartClock, CosmeticInjector.com even WomenAccessories.com. Even these last two kinda would work better as plural like Cosmetic(s)Injector.com and Women(s)Accessories.com.

I'm curious why mine are being singled out. (scratching me head because I have no hair lol)

Smart Clock--- > industry category expected grow by 25% CAGR YoY.

It is an exact match product and is also representative of the entire category like Smart Watch for example.

I think that "EMDs" that include the extension like "Canadian.Bank" are really domain hacks....not true EMDs....

One domain only.
A few submissions are cool at this point -- I'm not too worried about quantity, so long as they fit the criteria..

Go google it & see

I'd dare to say that's not really what an Exact-Match-Domain is, but more of an Exact-BRAND-domain - for the developed .net restaurant.

There is no search volume, there is no advertising spend on the keyword..

I genuinely recommend that vast majority of those who already commented, or are watching, spend some time actually researching and understanding what an EMD is, here's a starter video: https://www.domainsherpa.com/exact-match-domains/
