We have just agreed on the dates for a Livestream with Monte Cahn (@mcahn): Tuesday, Jan 21st @ 15:00 (3PM) UK times.

This time we are going live 6hrs earlier - trying to find the best times that suit the most.

Is there a question you would like to ask Monte?

The best ones will be asked #live

When is NameCon moving to other regions?

I would ask. How could you advocate for the NewG's, very strongly, and then shift, very strongly, away from them?

For those that don't know. In the early days of the NewG's he was saying things such as, "We will be helping to promote the new domain extensions since this will be the primary investment for the next generation of domain investors."

He went on to say, "We also think the time is right to do this to not only build awareness and education on new TLDs, we believe it will help all domain extensions and their owners through the increased opportunities as well as the chaos and perceived confusion that is upon all of us."

Now days he won't accept a NewG in the Namescon auction. He will take a three word .com, but only a few NewG's. The ones he has accepted are questionable and some of the ones declined entrance has been very good. What gives? Why the change? What happened and why? Explain?

I wonder what he thinks about the takeover of .org

I'd ask him about his business plans. Moniker.com registrar under his leadership was good. Now it is not that good. How about starting a new registrar with Monte as a CEO, or purchasing an existing one?

Will do.

Yes, will ask him.

Great question. Will ask it.

Interesting. I will ask it as well.

All the above questions will be asked if we will have enough time.

By the way: You can already post these and other questions in the Live Chat window + your name and profile photo / page logo will appear along with the question on the screen.

Monte Cahn is Urgestein of domaining. I once watched a video him brokering great one word coms on the wired telephone in the mid 1990s if I recall it correctly. He was one of the prominent critics of the young gTLD dot.mobi in the late 2000s. And now, it seems, he is also sceptical against nTLDs right of the dot as @Internet.Domains mentioned.

This leads to the question where Monte sees domaining in 5 or 10 or 20 years from now. Will there be an even more liquid aftermarket than today with the whole world and the last village being online then. Will .com reign all the time as it did and does, or does he see a serious nTLD competitor like .app or .web, just for example? Does he foresee online content without the need using a domain name and if yes, how would this happen?

The xy brand monitoring company reported ($) the results of a CEO Survey Q2 2019 of 378 Tech co. CEO’s on their preferred existing/upcoming nGTLD (brand protection / secondary domain extension)
79% .ecom
7.6% .web
4.3% .app
3% .ing
2.2% .page
1.7% .tech
1.4% .dot
0.5% .pay
0.3% none
