I think Epik is building the best ever Domain Lander in the history of domaining, and it really needs to be talked about extensively. That's why I am creating this discussion thread. A lot of thought process really goes into the project. And I can see (for the first time) a landing page that is built from the stand point of domainers rather than for just the marketplace itself.

Everything you have ever dreamt of getting or seeing in a professional landing page can be found in the new Epik marketplace landing page design.

Some of my Favorites Features:

1. The ability to optimize your "domain for sale" landing page to actually rank on Google, displaying your sales pitch/domain description. I just did that with few of my generic domain names such as ASAP.TV, targeting certain keywords, and they are showing pretty well on Google. That's a huge plus in my marketing effort.

2. Being able to change background image is another huge one for me. If you are good with pictures and images, you will surely find this very useful. I did that with Nagasaki.org and the result was truly amazing, showing the city of Nagasaki right at the background.

There are too many positive features and I don't want to mention all of them, all alone :xf.grin::xf.grin:

So I am leaving you guys to share and discuss what you loves most or dislike about the new Epik marketplace and the landing pages.

The only negative for me is the checkout process. There are too many terms and conditions buttons to tick before checking out. It will be nice if they can streamline those into one beautiful big button :xf.cool:

They also need to place the checkout button directly under the payment options. Right now it is awkwardly place somewhere below at the sidebar, which I don't find cool at all.

Sales experience is also welcomed in this discussion. I haven't had any sells so far at Epik because I started using the marketplace just recently, but the future is looking so bright.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Live chat between sellers and buyers on Epik platform (under Epik brand!) should not be allowed. It is normal security. Epik never knows what the buyer or potential buyer may say, and how the seller may react. It may harm the brand. If the buyer has a question - and he is on Epik powered lander with a chat icon - then only Epik support member should respond.

Agreed. Epik would risk denting its brand if a chat conversation goes wrong. Any chat conversation should be carried out by the Epik support team.

LiveChat with Epik team is useful for domainers as well...
I use it very often to send my suggestions, to report the detected bugs etc.

For example, as my last suggestion regarding Epik CSS...
Check how Epik UI looks in 1920x1080 @ 96 dpi in Chromium when browser is configured with the following settings:
font - DejaVu Sans
font size - Large
minimum font size - 12.

p.s. DejaVu - default/canonical font on Linux machines.

Regarding Chat between sellers and buyers...
Make it as option... who needs it - will switch it ON.
The more simple solution for Epik landers...
If seller wants this chat - just show the seller's SkypeID... and that's all.

I respectfully disagree. I’d rather let it drop than get 90 cents 🙄 or just renew. The goal should be to liquidate for at least what you paid. I don’t care about huge domains or whoever. The first week the bottom price was $9 and I thought that was fair to both parties. Now I can do far better liquidating here at NP. I thought we were helping domainers not thwarting Huge Domains etc.

Agree with this, the bottom price should have been $9 or so (or even better, the seller should have the choice to add his own bottom price let's say any amount between $1 and $9).

To be clear, what we are talking about here is a chat on the domain itself. It is not on Epik.com. So the lander is actually sovereign even if it is powered by Epik technology.

The point of this suggestion is whether to enlist the talents of the domain owner in landing a prospect.

In many cases, the domain owner who bought that domain likely knows more about why that domain is valuable, or be able to engage the prospect in their native language.

As we scale out Epik we are thinking more holistically in terms of EMPOWERMENT, regardless of whether someone has a few domains or 100,000 domains.

Live chat, that a domain investor can quickly communicate and negotiate with a prospect would be a game changer. Game changer.

That was my thinking.

Engineering is review the feasibility of it as part of the CRM rollout. We own the domain name Chat-Rooms.com for looking more broadly at secure chatting as a theme.

As it is we are doing a lot of customer chatting in Skype but ultimately that does not scale and comes with security challenges, and logging limitations for integrated CRM.

So, as we rollout next-generation single-sign-on we are looking more holistically at the relationship between Epik, domain owner, and prospect for creating frictionless, intuitive, but secure experiences.

Rob, you are a great guy and I really appreciate everything you do for the domain community.
While 99.9% of the domainers (including myself) would welcome such feature and the ability to chat in real time with a potential buyer, don't know something just tells me this is wrong. Bad apples are everywhere and I'm afraid that some very few would damage Epik's brand while using this feature, think the language barrier and what a potential end user think while chatting with a guy who doesn't write in proper english, think a hot headed domainer who had a bad day and replies in a sarcastic manner, think a drunk domainer who received a low ball offer after he had half bottle of whiskey, etc...

I've checked one of my landing pages, I see Epik's logo on the top left, then the "Why purchase this domain with Epik" so the landing page is still Epik branded, isn't it?

Speaking from my experiences my best sales, by both price and the speed of closing, have happened during a phone call. A phone call that the buyer had to initiate. That takes work for a buyer to initiate a phone call. I want to lessen the work for a buyer.

Live chat will speed up the complete sales process. Live chat lessens the work for the buyer and speeds up the negotiations, while the iron is hot.

The industry will be forever changed. That's empowering.

GAME CHANGER.

Would a disclaimer help?

The views of this or that person have no relation to Epik or speak for the Domaining community? Or something more professional and on point.....

I think most people would know if they are dealing with a d*ck and not blame a whole industry based on their interactions with 1 person....

Suggestion regarding Epik lander...
I want to completely disable this section Why purchase this domain with Epik with all its banners...
In Contact Form mode... when domain is NOT listed for sale... just parked on your lander...

It is all configurable. See bottom of configurator:

If you are looking for a global setting that overrides the local setting for a specific domain, it does not exist.

If you want help with some bulk operation and are not sure, send a support ticket and we can accommodate.

@Sumeeth and others in QA/Support are also routinely auditing the support tickets to find more way to improve the UX and to improve the fast-growing Knowledge Base.

Please show screenshot how to launch this configurator even per single domain...

Most people here probably know it, but see here:

1. Select 1 name or many names and then Select Park this domain

upload_2020-1-17_11-38-5.png

2. Then work with the configurator -- 1st option is called Premium Parking

3. And set advanced settings

@Sumeeth might have some more resources to suggest.

Ya that it possible, but it is also possible for a domain owner to do the same though email inquiries as well. So what is Epik supposed to just broker all out domains for us and not let the owner do anything? I mean maybe some owners would like a brokered option, like another registrar offers on their marketplace, but personally i would just rather handle the inquries myself and I think live chat would be a neat option, especially if it came baked in to an Epik mobile app (another great idea to keep Rob busy with) so I could respond right from my phone, because I have it with me much more than I am just sitting at a computer.

We'll take a look this week at how to force a currency default versus having the system guess the user's currency based on GEO IP.

@vitigo
Week is about to end. Is there Any update on this? Unfortunately i don’t see any progress on it. The landing page still shows wrong default currency. I want it to be USD by default from anywhere. Ability to set currency as per the domain. Dan have done it. Don’t see any reason why epik won’t. Which such delay on this?
