Hello everyone,

There is a domain name I 'd like to buy expiring in 2 days, excluding grace period etc. The domain is owned by a company selling domain names and it is a .com domain. I believe is highly unlikely to be dropped, because the selling company has listed it at a ridiculous price, but I 'll give a try to get it. The registrar of this domain is epik.com who -fun fact- claim they are the Swiss bank of domain names.

So what's my best chance of getting this domain ? After some research, I found out the following backorder domains and their costs:

epik.com -> $199 (because it's the current registrar)

snapnames.com -> $79
godaddy -> ? ($9,99 for 10 credits and then you can set as many credits you want ? )
namejet.com -> $69
pool.com -> could not create an account because the service will not accept the card I use in the internet with current balance $20, but it seems the minimum bid is $69.

So what do I do guys ? Do I use all, since they all claim to refund if not taken ? And when do I place the backorder ? Does the registrar backorder worth the risk and absence of $199 ?

Thanks for your feedback !

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
You can try with several different ones but DropCatch.com is probably best (if more backorder it will go to action)

Epik replied the following:

Hello,

All backorders are refundable.

As for the domain name you backordered, if the domain sits at Epik, you have a much better chance of getting it if you backorder it through Epik since we will review if there are any backorders on the domain before it drops and other Registrars get the opportunity to grab it.

Would you agree on that ?

What price range are you considering to be ridiculous?

A good domain can easily be worth several thousand dollars. Is it really short, like 4 letters or a 2 word product or service name? If so, then you might be better off trying to work out an affordable payment plan with the seller because they will never let it drop.

Hello,

Here to help.
Depending on where in the deletion process the domain is currently, we might be able to recover it for you.
If you would like, I can take a closer look at it, just PM me the domain :)
