DAN.COM (formerly known as Undeveloped.com) is on a path to be become the biggest domain marketplace in the world. We use state of the art technology to solve everyday problems buyers and sellers in the domain industry face. At DAN.COM we focus on automating most processes required to buy & sell domains to increase a more efficient and active secondary market for domains.

What sets us apart is our strong focus on product development and customer satisfaction. We leave nothing to chance and every single feature and element we introduce is professionally and carefully designed and built.

DAN.COM is ranked in the top 5 best-rated marketplaces in the world (According to the biggest review platform Trustpilot) and in the domain industry, we're the domain marketplace with the highest rating with an average of 9,4 out of 10 points.

At DAN.COM you will get the highest value for the lowest commission around. Due to our domain transfer automation, we can offer significantly faster handling of domain transactions and payouts (usually within 24 hours) at the lowest fee charged by any domain marketplace.

We've been the first on many fronts and proudly will continue to keep innovating. We were the first to offer optimized for sale pages since 2013, the first to provide payment plans in the form of lease to own and rentals and also the first and only domain marketplace offering free SSL on all domains parked with us for over a year now.

Yes. If I have a name like кingzzа which is madeup/brandable king+pizza will never be shown because there is no keyword.

A year ago I make a suggestion to DAN to add a field with "related keywords" when submitting a domain.

For example:
I submitting кingzzа and add related keywords: pizza, food, street food, fast food. (maybe up to 5 keywords is OK)

So there need to be added a filter on the search something like: "Show only madeup names" which will gonna show only madeup/brandable names that are related to the searched keyword/s
Hi novasyd,

Thank you for your response and explanation.

I understand the reasoning behind it but fail to see how we can implement this accurately. We have not encountered any possible implementation that would ensure the technology would be able to define a "made-up" name.

Regarding the keywords, this was already being developed. However, as we are finalizing the new landers I have mentioned before the production of adding keywords has been parked briefly. Regardless, you will be able to make use of this feature soon!

Have a great week.

Have you some numbers on how many domains are sold with installments? some % ?
@LaszloSchenk
Good morning domeen,

I do not have the exact data for you. What I can share is that an average of over 15% of our users' monthly revenue is allocated to recurring revenue resulting from installment plans.

Have a great week.

@LaszloSchenk there is no need of undeveloped technology to do that simple task :)

It's also a keyword-based search but will show up only made-up names.

@LaszloSchenk
Since we started in 2013, one of our core missions has been to rethink domain trading from A to Z. We were just fed up to find ourselves stuck in painful, outdated, and inefficient processes every single time we wanted to purchase or sell a domain.

Our journey hasn't been an easy one. We had to start from scratch and compete with several established marketplaces that had volumes we could only dream off.

Six years and a lot of blood, sweat, and tears later, (as the Dutch say) we proudly can conclude that DAN has become one of the leading influencers and innovators of the domain industry.

Year in review: comparing 2019 with 2018:

1: +8,5M domain buyers visited DAN.COM directly to purchase a domain.

2: +60M unique visitors visited a domain for sale page hosted by DAN.COM.

3: Three times more sellers joined the marketplace in 2019 compared to 2018.

4: 14% of the revenue of our sellers has become recurring due to installments & domain rentals.

5: The average DAN.COM seller, has sold 8% more domains, in 2019 compared to 2018.

6: DAN.COM has become the best-rated domain marketplace and the 5th best-rated marketplace overall, in the world.

The secret to our team's success is that we do not accept the given and continuously push ourselves to keep improving our product and service.

In 2019, we've introduced a completely new domain transfer infrastructure that will allow us to launch never seen before and highly impactful domain trading features in 2020. And that's just the start of it. We plan to double down on our efforts and will continue to invest aggressively in our product and service so we can increasingly deliver more value to our dear users.

That's the DAN.COM guarantee. We will never slow down, the bigger we get, the more we can do and the past 6 years are a testament of that.

Thank you for all your support and your valuable interactions in 2019, M! We hope that 2020 holds success, good health and good fortune in any endeavor you pursue. It has been a pleasure to work with you in 2019 and we look forward to working with you in 2020!

With warm regards,

Reza Sardeha
CEO of DAN.COM

Good morning Novasyd,

Thank you for your response.

We do need to build the logic to ensure the system is able to define made-up words. However, we have another option in mind that has been put on our roadmap which should solve the issue on hand. Our product team has been notified.

Have a great day!

@LaszloSchenk

Is the DAN Bot intended to work in off-hours, as well? Or only when the team is available?

Does the TransferLock status affect the bot's ability to perform its duties?

Cheers,
Joshua

Good morning Joshua,

Thank you for reaching out.

The DAN Bot is operational 24/7. However, with certain extensions or in this case a transfer lock some manual processes come in to play. In those cases, a DAN.COM transfer specialist has to intervene.

Have a great day!

@Reza

I am in the middle of my first transaction with Dan.com and want to share my experiences in real time...is this the appropriate thread in which to do so

I should have stated I am in the middle of my first transaction as a buyer on dan.com

Much of the commentary I see in the thread here is written form the perspective of domainers as domain sellers whereas my perspective here comes from the perspective of domainer as domain buyer!

I thought that the blockchain idea was excellent and as it was a large dollar acquisition I wanted some third party involvement. The seller appeared verified so I thought the transfer would be quick easy and seamless which seems to be the promise of Dan.com. But I was wrong.

I purchased the domain name on Dan.com several days ago.

The domain name was priced! Its price was displayed in full view along with a buy now button

The domain name purchase was executed at the advertised price using the buy it now button.

Payment was made and confirmed received by Dan.com same day.

More than 48 hours have passed and I do not have the domain name nor have I received the EPP codes to enable me to transfer the domain name

The seller is a sophisticated well known domain name entity with thousands of domain names listed for sale at Dan.com (and other marketplaces such as Sedo) some with asking prices broaching 1 million dollars They are players from way back

I am an old school domainer. I've done deals based on little more than a virtual hand shake. Forget the promise and glamour of block chain...if your marketplace lacks integrity your technology isn't going to save you. How can you operate a marketplace where sellers will not release the goods they are hawking there?

I see all the complaints here about lowball offers on Dan.com. That I am afraid goes with the territory. Some guys just kick the tires on car lots. But when you walk onto the car lot as a cash paying customer you better damn well be able drive off in the car you see sitting on the lot with the for sale for X dollars price tag on it.

When the salesman says he can't give you the keys to the car he promised you and that you paid him your hard earned money for now that my domain name friends is a problem.

Trust not technology is the maker of marketplaces. Blockchain doesn't make transferring things easier if buyers and sellers don't both do their parts.

That is where this falls upon Dan.com because it is you that vets the sellers as as such it is you that must compell them to honour their commitments and up to you to insure that they do their part! Otherwise you add absolutely zero to the domain name landscape. I personally would rather deal with deadbeat buyers than be labelled a deadbeat seller any day!

Let me put it to you this way. If Dan.com becomes known as the home of deadbeat sellers none of you will have to worry about dealing with deadbeat buyers anymore. Deadbeat sellers are a real problem and so I hope you have measures in place to control your sellers.

I am forced to give to the weekend to sort itself out I suppose because you are closed and apparently unreachable.

I am not going to judge either you or the seller too harshly just yet but I do intend to use this space to keep you and your users up to date on my story in real time as it unfolds.

Well a other 24 hours has elapsed and as suspected no further communication from Dan.com

weekend!

my first impressions are that a company that prides itself on its technological advantages and claims that this is what makes them better than everyone else must STILL be responsive. this is the internet age. Somehow I was able to send $x half way around the world in one hour to pull rchase this domain and yet here I am 72 plus hours post payment and Dan.com has yet to provide me with any substantive information about my transaction other than one email saying the seller has not transferred the domain yet.

this is your blockchain advantage in action?
This is your technological advantage?
Please!

Well since you have the blockchain part down tight maybe you guys should concentrate a little bit more on customer service, your out going communications and educating your sellers work on how to exactly use your technology!

Am I supposed to believe these tech giants that I bought this name from are away from their cell phones for days at a time and have no access to email?

I am always concerned when I end up using a service which seems confused about who their customer really is. It’s obvious that dan.com views their sellers as their clients.

The sellers pay the bills right?

WRONG

Your customers are not your sellers. They do little more than provide you inventory to stock your shelves much like Lays provides Walmart with potato chips. Guess what, if people start getting sick eating the chips who pays the price?

It’s guys like me that blindly send you huge sums of money in good faith who are your real customers! I generated the commission you are gonna earn here! If you mistreat the customer it is you who will hear about it first not the seller.

If you are creating a marketplace for sellers as opposed to buyers then you better make sure they cater to the people they are meant to serve otherwise as I have said before you have nothing

Blockchain smockchain big deal....where is the domain name I paid for.

this kind of bullshit might fly with some new breed domainers and it may have even gone over on me 20 plus years ago when I first got into this business but after over two decades of being in domains at the highest of levels I have seen all I need to see and know everyone I need to know to insure that no one is going to
get away with trying to pull a fast one on me!

Funnily enough I haven’t been this excited about domains in a long time.

anyways Reza you have more work to do in order to make your Dan.com the biggest marketplace in the world and your Trustpilot score is going to take a big hit if I do not get the goods I have paid for!

And if your seller suffering from a bad case of sellers remorse decides to get cute and transact the name, well, then this will explode into a full blown calamady!

hope the name is here Monday

have a great weekend

only during working hours/days they are able to verify the buyer/payment part (bank transaction, fraud protection, DD, etc)

Did you try to communicate directly with the people at DAN ?

Of course
That is why I am criticizing their lack of customer service
They claim to be processing 2 million a month in sales but are virtually unreachable Given they chose to operate in the Netherlands the time difference becomes an added issue which only serves to exasperate the problem.

reread what I have written
They got the money the same day I purchased the domain
Dan.com has acknowledged receipt of my payment
They don’t need to confirm anything
They need to get the seller to release the name
That’s it
That’s all
There is nothing to confirm

I may be wrong and I hope I am but I believe this has the potential to be the domain feel bad story of 2020

It has all the makings of an Adam Dicker or Nelson Brady aka halvarez type story. Incidentally Halvarez was the last guy to pull some shit on me and it didn’t work out to well for him

there is no suitable substitute for honesty and integrity

Seems we keep on learning that lesson over and over

get the popcorn ready

You know the more I think about it and the more I have to live with it as a buyer the lack of prompt customer service availability is an absolute killer to be forced to endure. There are no weekends on the Internet. all of the great success stories you hear and read about ... almost all of them were built on the backs of great CEOs who left zero to chance and provided great customer service

I can tell you this, I've been in many domain deals over the years so I personally am not overly concerned at this point hoe things are going. Don't get me wrong, Im not happy that the near instant fulfilment of my order was not delivered as promised but Im not overly concerned at this point about losing my money or anything BUT if I had zero experience in the domain world and had sent Dan.com my money and had little to no feedback after 72 hours when the order should have been filled day 1 I think I might be pretty concerned. Just saying, if you're looking to attract NEW end user and large dollar sales then it would be important to be able to deliver upon your promises.

Like I said this is about me providing feedback in real time about my experience as a domain name BUYER, not my experience as a domain seller. Having said that, I have sold a few domain names over the years and I can not think of a single solitary instance in which the consideration had been paid and that 72 hours post payment neither the EPP code or the domain itself had been conveyed to the purchaser. I can't think of too many businesses that operate well that way. NO matter what standard you use to measure Dan.coms performance heres its a fail, never mind when the standard that should be used to measure their performance is the one which they set for themselves that being, simpler near immediate domain name transfers. The fact that a seller would fail to deliver goods which were purchased subject to a mutually agreed upon and binding contractual agreement is something I think I as a CEO myself would be working on during the weekend to correct in order to prevent me from coming into my office on Monday morning to an even bigger mess to have to deal with.

Hey Reza your customers are having to work weekends!

It's even worse when you consider the Netherlands time difference so it appears they are actually out of the office as soon as early Friday morning US time which means support is an issue for basically 3 days or longer which is like an eternity on the 24x7 Web. I don't understand why they can't hire an all day Friday and weekend staff or at a minimum 1 or 2 of the Dan execs be on duty (via home-office if necessary).

I 'work' every weekend for decades and if I was running an international internet company like DAN there's no way I would even think about not working after 5-PM and all weekend. Maybe in Europe people are not as dedicated to working more than standard business hours and to the job compared to the US, I am guessing?

P.S. I believe (but not positive) I lost a mid 4-figure sale :xf.frown: because of slow and delayed non-real time support.
