With thousands of startups needing a name for their new company and many more existing businesses also branching out all the time and needing names for their new line of products and services it seems that brandable domains is one of the areas that could be very beneficial to domainers both old and new and deserves to be explored further.

Below are a few points of discussion to get this thread started, if I have left something important out please let me know so that it can be added to them. If you have any tips or advice about brandable domains please feel free to share them with the rest of us.

1-What is a brandable domain.

2-How many different types of brandable domains are there and is one type better than the others.

3-What makes a brandable domain stand out amongst thousands of others.

4-What is the optimum length for a brandable domain, how long can a brandable domain be and still qualify as being a good choice.

5-What types of brandable domains are most desired by startups and existing businesses.

6-What is the best way to find brandable domains.

7-What is the best way to sell brandable domains.

Attention Newbies: It's probably best to first hear what some of the more experienced domainers have to say about this subject before you consider getting any domains, and even then it's probably best to experiment with just a few domains at a time. You should be able to sell one domain and then use the proceeds from that sale to get more domains, if you cannot even sell one domain then you are doing something wrong and need to adjust your strategy. IMO

I sort of like unslain because it does mean undefeated and GD values "undefeated" at 16K whereas they only value "unslain" at 1,100.
Another one I like for a baker, bakery or caterer is sendDonuts.com. Imagine overnighting a dozen gourmet donuts....what an impression

I think you can make money with Keyword Domains just need to find high value keywords with a high cpc or heavy traffic potential.

Splific dot com loose play on the word spliff I think it has potential as cannabis industry software brand
Sixypress dotcom pr or publishing site potential
Wibbets dot com currently the domain for my holding company but has sports betting or gambling potential or tech branding

While branding and trademarking 9Time™ for the masses, i was able to reg Backyard9(.)com. One of the NP moderators told me he had carved out a crude 9 hole golf course on his property years ago, so when I saw that Backyard9 was availailable.....Voila! Just imagine the possibility for a creative architect/designer whose business goes by the name Backyard9 .....and just imagine the drinking games

well, firstly I want scope what I am talking..I am talking invented name which looks like can be used as a brand..exclued singleword, exclude keyword+keword, exclude prefix+keyword, exclude keyword+suffix, exclude call-action-phrase(all those exclued item are also actually very very brandable, but not in my scope in this post), once the scope been locked, below is what in my mind to make a good invented brandable name:

1. no obvious meaning, just pattern look good while also sounds catchy....like the those catchy name list at http://catchy.com, those name can used for any type of business as they are quite generic and with no specific meaning...

2. based on keyword, but a very small, smart, senseable addon or clever, subtle change...like flip>flippa.com....those name can use for business related with that keyword...

anyway, I just regged this 6L(hopefully I am not going too far away), it can fall into the my first category as a brandable..

I think I slightly prefer the plural, as most branding efforts include multiple approaches and avenues toward the final goal. Best wishes for the site.
