Spaceship Spaceship
Last week, we brought you news of the likely Everest.com sale. At the time, we had no official verification of the sale, but thanks to a helpful senior staff member from National Gun Trader who confirmed the company’s acquisition of the domain name. No details of the domain’s sales price have been revealed.

Here are this week’s Top Topics.

2020 Predictions for the Domain Industry

With the year and the decade coming to a close, it’s a perfect time to reflect on the past year as well as looking forward to the next year.

Numerous domaining blogs ask panels of experts to make their predictions for the year ahead, so this year an investor has asked the community to share their own predictions for the year ahead. Predictions so far include the value increase of short domains, and the popularity of alternative extensions.

Stage.com Changed Hands for $325,000

Aside from owning a stellar portfolio of .COM domains, George Kirikos has spent countless hours uncovering high value domain sales from company filings that would otherwise have gone undetected.

Here, George shares his latest six-figure domain discovery. The domain in question is Stage.com, which sold in 2015 and has been valued in a company filing at $325,000. This company valuation likely means that the domain sold for this amount in 2015.

Poll: Did You Make Money in 2019?

This week’s featured poll is another opportunity to take stock of the year that has passed. The question asked is quite simple really - did you make any money domaining in 2019?

The question may be simple, but making money in domaining is far from simple, but regardless of this, over 70% of respondents indicated that they have made money domaining in 2019, as of publishing.

I Sold This Domain for $25,000

Earlier this year, this investor disclosed that they sold two domain names within a day for a total of $63,000. Now, the domainer is back to reveal details of their latest sale.

According to the discussion, the sale took place at Uniregistry and after commission fees, the investor pocketed $22,500 on a domain name that they registered for $37 just seven months ago. What a way to end the year!

My Domain Was Put On Hold by Verisign

A couple of months ago, this investor registered a six-letter .COM domain name, but after contacting the registrar after noticing a nameserver change, it turns out that the name has been put on hold by Verisign.

Other investors helped to deduce that the name had been switched to the dreaded “shadowserver sinkhole” nameservers, likely because of the domain’s possible previous link to malware.

I predict a HUGE BREAKOUT in the way domains are bought, sold and marketed in 2020. So much so that I just hand reg'd HugeBreakout.com:xf.wink:

It's been a little over a year since Verisign called out the domain industry for hoarding domains to the detriment of businesses worldwide. I knew all along the business model where domainers liquidate just 1-2% of their inventory annually is/was seriously flawed.

I'll be taking my case and plan to organizations like NFIB (National Federation of Independent Business) and NSBA (National Small Buisness Association) this coming year such that these organizations can better serve their members.

Anyone who cares to join me or help just send me a PM.....Happy New Year:xf.grin: and God Bless:xf.wink:
