I just got an offer for a name that had a low to mid $xxx bin price.

Potential buyer just offered $9k on a name but my bin was less than a tenth of that. I'm concerned that either its a scam or the buyer screwed up. Its not a normal number like $9000 or $9500, rather its $9021, which seems odd.

Not sure what best to do next. If I accept and it turns out the buyer typed it in wrong I could scare away buyer, but it could also be a scam or bot.

What to do ?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Send them the invoice, and wait for them to checkout, if they do, or they don’t, their location will say a lot also maybe.

Accept it as offered. Probably is someone playing.

They would have to send a wire if at uni, many of the offers coming in from there these days are lots of mistaken offers from India, Nigeria, and Indonesia.

Hopefully it is legit, would be a nice Xmas present.

A new twist...interesting. For me it would depend on finances. If I weren't afraid of scaring the buyer away because I needed a sale, I would take whatever the offer is as long as it is above my minimum acceptable price.

Its a spanish word, a .org, its a colombia buyer, town and phone seem legit. Just weird he would offer. I dont see why anyone would type in that number.

Maybe his offer was meant to be in the currency used in Colombia?

Could be, but thats $2.66

I'm also concerned if I accept he can just sit on it and not pay for a long time.

I think it is not that uncommon. I hope it is legit but expect not. I had one not long ago (not at Uniregistry) a seemingly legit $10k on a domain with a BIN noticeably less. I took off the BIN, took it down from other marketplaces and accepted but no further communication. Don't most marketplaces allow you to cancel nonpaying offers after 6 days? If it looks legit I would accept and hope it is real.

rather its $9021, which seems odd.
Just for fun I looked up what any special meaning of 9021. It says
"The message, encoded in number 9021 relates to the field of creativity and hobbies and says that very soon you will have an opportunity to make money on your hobby. Take this with due seriousness and try to use the chance to change your life to the maximum."
Consider yourself informed re why the offer is $9021 @NYJimbo ! :xf.eek:

What is the point of rejecting it? Accept the offer. If he means business, he'll pay. If he doesn't, you'll know he's a time waster.

seems odd it wasn't a round figure. Go ahead and accept the offer and see what happens. Good Luck.

Just accept it and if he/she asks for ONE PENNY then run.

Simple.

I am now going to use numerology exclusively in my domain pricing. It will take awhile to reprice all of my domains, but many will now be at $9021. :xf.smile: I will let you know how it works out.

Well, it happened again. Got a half million dollar offer on a hyphenated domain that clearly has a low $xXxX bin.

Not sure what to do , but I don't like being trolled and this only happens in uniregistry.
