With 10 days til Christmas what would you like Domainer Clause to bring you for Christmas? What changes or new tools would you like to receive this year? My list would consist of: GoDaddy reporting sales from Namefind and Afternic All registrars to give registrants a % of the money they generate off that registrant's expired domain … [Read more...]

I like this part @equity78:
"All registrars to give registrants a % of the money they generate off that registrant’s expired domain names."

@Laguna, I sincerely hope get your first sale -- I knowing you've been waiting for awhile. As for me, I'm waiting for my first xxxx. Maybe Santa will be good to us all. :-D

The above is a great idea in principal, but why the heck should anyone get rewarded for dropping a name they longer want?

Have your cake and eat a percentage springs to mind......though this works out better than the original proverb

Wow... so much could be said!
  • Caps on renewals on all TLDs
  • As mentioned in article, an expiration option that gives domain owners a piece of the pie
  • Better transparency in domain auctions
  • More uniform registration and renewal costs
  • More effective promotion of the value of domain names for all of individuals, organizations and businesses
  • All domain sales recorded in a database such as NameBio, so we don't need to guess what the unreported part of record is
  • ORG in hands of a nonprofit consortium and not private interests
  • The main business news media noticing domain and naming more
  • A rethink of UDRP and URS. It seems to me that there is a dangerous slide toward broader and broader precedents. DELL is confusingly similar to DRLL? Really?!:xf.eek:
  • Another great year of domain writing by @equity78 ! Thanks so much for your incredible service to the community!
Now waiting for Santa :xf.grin:

Happy Holidays everyone!

Bob

PS Addition They add a new Academy Award category for best use of a domain name in support of a motion picture!

I just purchased my first name off of Dan.com. Purchased Friday 8AM European Time. Have to wait until Monday (or later) to receive the Auth Code. This is way too long, IMHO. And what if the seller doesn't reply until later, if at all? Also, I think for NGTLD's they should have a renewal cost field in their sales. What happens if the transfer costs are exorbitant because it's a premium domain? It's too late to change my mind. I've already paid :(

Talking to a live person who behaves like a bot? I don't know if that is worse, or not, than really talking to a bot? :(

OK. So the man pretending to be a bot at Dan.com answered at the weekend, even though their offices are officially closed. Gave me the auth code. Of course it was invalid. You would have thought they would check such simple things before passing the information onto me :( More time wasted, and wasting. Still locked also. The man pretending to be a bot is under performing :(

This Christmas Gift is turning into a Nightmare.

Great to know someone is attending to you at the weekend. I never really noticed they weren't usually available over the weekend.

Can they check the auth to see if it is genuine? Hope it turns out to be a real deal and not one of silly Billy's. 😂

They could at least try to initiate a transfer. Most registrars will inform immediately if there is a problem with the auth code. Most registrars can cancel a transfer before it is actually initiated. By not paying for the transfer maybe ;)

I think there are definitely some shortcomings in this process. This is my first purchase at Dan. I was in the Christmas Spirit when I started this process. It's not going so well. I hope this isn't going to spoil the rest of my Christmas Celebrations ;)

Hi Stub,

The processes that can be automated are executed by the DAN Bot and the manual processes are done by our escrow agents (which are named). Nobody at our team "pretends to be a bot".

As you know, as a marketplace we're dependant on the seller to provide either us or the Bot with a valid auth code for .com domains. In your case (I'm not sure which transaction this is about) it seems the seller accidentally might have copied/pasted the wrong code.

Would you have rather waited until Monday before an agent reviewed the transaction and would have sent you the exact same code received from the seller manually?

Also, for over a year now, we have staff working in the weekends. They handle both escrow and provide support to make sure transactions are handled continuously.

Lastly, note that DAN is not a registrar (yet) and solely acts as a domain marketplace at the moment. In Q1 of 2020, we expect our registrar to go live.

Kind regards,

Dan

Friend of neighbour turned up on saturday evening with plenty of Beef to last till January. 😂 (I am 'new` in the area).

I will be thinking of domains and my wonderful neighbours while tucking into various beef-accompanied dishes.

Is that sheep still coming, 🐑 🐑 🐑 Santa? 😂

Last thursday, my next door neighbour shared good news of his Cancer having disappeared and the doctors putting it down to nothing short of a miracle. The Cancer was discovered around March this year but now no traces found.

I pray you will testify to your healing soon, too, in Jesus name.

Late update.

Chest Freezer full of Lamb gifted to me by neighbour on January 5th. A year's worth of Lamb in there to fuel me while 'domaining'. ☺

I keep testing prayer, and it works. God answers.
