As many here are aware, Epik has been setting a pace for innovation in the domain industry. One of the rumored projects has been to spin out a dedicated marketplace project that could provide a viable alternative to the likes of Afternic, Flippa, Sedo and Squadhelp, among others.

Earlier this month, @Rob Monster recruited me to lead a project to take the current marketplace.epik.com and replace it into an integrated Digital Brands Marketplace that can sell, lease or finance domains, brands and entire websites, safely and quickly with fast payout.

As some know here, I have had success with selling brandable domains. I believe Epik is a company that can turn the technology vision into operating reality and in a way that will help domain investors get higher prices than what we are seeing today.

The vision here is that verified domain owners can list domains from any registrar. The domains can also have additional assets attached such as social media handles, logo graphics, website analytics, external analytics and software codebases. One stop. Turn-key. No surprises.

Here are the attributes:

- Domain should be a .COM without a hyphen or number.
- Not more than 10 letters
- Can be one word or short brandable upto 3 syllables
- Must pass the Radio test and be memorable
- max budget - 50k but name has to be exceptional

Please send only names that are as per above parameters.

Let the sending begin.

what is the time frame for submissions?
will the new entity be a marketplace or registrar or both?
the questions are relevant because the answers will dictate the the types of names submitted.

Would a sensible 6L name that started with "DN" work? Or would "DN" be something you wouldn't consider?

I think "DN" is too narrow for this project.

This project is actually going after the core of SquadHelp and Flippa in addition to the legacy domain marketplaces. The hypothesis is that domains will be moving upstream to become not just domains but digital brands and digital assets which will integrate some combination of:

- Domain names
- Social handles
- Trademarks
- Software / Data

As the caliber of free tools continues to explode it is going to be easier for SEO-favorable domains to quickly spin up fully operational sites that are actually useful.

Armored.net is an example. The software behind it is an open source software product called NextCloud.

Us.Tv is another example. The software behind is also open source PeerTube.

We are about to release a service for cloud hosting using OpenStack called CloudChase. The billing system is a commercial software called Fleio. Should be live next week.

Long story short: it is becoming insanely easy for moderately capable domain owners to bundle domains with public domain software, add a payment gateway, drive some SEO and call it a turn-key website.

What Epik is doing is setting up the infrastructure to make it very easy for someone to buy an entire digital brand asset. Even the software and data can be containerized using Docker and OpenStack.

Anyway, stay tuned. I believe this might be the coolest thing we do in 2020. It won't all show up right away, but we have been laying out the pieces. Here is a relevant read for all you wildcatters:

There is a shortage of money-making sites.
