I have just found that uk2.net has a weekend promo, offering .com's with £1 (without vat).

I do not know if there is a limit, but so far I have registered 35 domains!!!

I didn't know this registrar...it appeared as an advertisement at my instagram.
when i registered the domains, it took around 20 minutes to appear to my account, and 2 of them haven't appeared yet. Instead is appearing a message "currently being set-up".

they do not mention about any fee, in case i want to transfer out the domains. I read the terms and conditions, but i didn't find something.
The domains are set autorenew, but you can change it to manual, through the control panel.
They accept Paypal.

if you like you can use my referral link, where both of us can earn up to £45!!

https://www.uk2.net/referral/?referral_uuid=C9E168CC-148D-11EA-9090-47E588456691

Please share it, so that more people get benefit out of it.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
If it is a reseller, you don't have much to work with, frankly in terms of regulatory compulsion. That is the downside of resellers. They are not regulated, and standing up a new reseller account is pretty easy these days. Specific to this case, it sounds like happy hour where the bar ran out of booze. It happens.
If this is the case than it is really a big worry and caution for all domainers to not fall for these promotions with unknown resellers/registrars. I don't know about this but at least the re-sellers may be penalized for this kind of act directly from the enom, or at-least a threat to suspend the account. What I know till now, they are in the market from quite some time and
I doubt if they really know that domainers like us exist and they togather can explode the systems with such kind of promotions.

They know all about domain investors and the industry been around since 1998 they have done many posts about top domain sales maybe they didn't expect the demand who knows ?

small update, they did delete my domains as they stated previously... so basically as Rob mentioned.. happy hour and they ran out of booz... ill be sure to report it none-the-less, especially cause i do not like how customer support acted at all, basically just saying, they are in the right and dont have to provide any reasoning... account locked, bye. Such behaviour should not even be able to hold 0.00000001% marketshare. (If it were a honnest mistake and they would have gone ahead to explain the account suspension and or deletetion of the domains, it would be a different story, and personally, i would not mind). Instead, they locked all accounts and make untrue false claims of fraud suspicion to suspend all accounts that regd names on the promo...(or most all acounts)

My last order of 34 domains was canceled but other 64 domains are in account.

ok, so, after i contacted the parrent company, (several people in position at The Hub Group), basically forwarding my exchange with the support, hinching to sue if they leave it like that and dont explain, support manager got back to me saying the ticket has been "brought" to her attention... explaining that:
Apparently under this promo, sales of domains are not allowed, and, anyone setting their names for sale is violating against the TOS of that offer,:

Me:
Thanks for the reply, which saves me from elaborating this further.
Can you point me towards where it says that Domains being set for sale is a TOS Breach?
As i have never seen a registrar which does not allow the practice, having used 10s of different registrars to buy and sell domains.
(If they sell they would be pushed to another UK2 account and therefor stay within UK2, i presume).

Them:
Thank you for asking further questions. On our TOS agreement it mentions the statement below, so the domain needs to remain on the same account (their) as originally purchased:

All domains registered under this offer must remain on their UK2.net plan for minimum of 12 months.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

Kind Regards,

I Then have asked for clear clarifications that if or if not all accounts where domains are set for sale in this promo will or will not be closed, as that is the BS reason they gave me, answer still pending. Will update...

If they stick with that story, then they may aswell refund them all, $1 is awfully expensive for a domain we are "not allowed" to push anywhere, (therefore, sell).

They should have capped the number of dot coms that could be registered under the promo per customer to 5 or 10 only, and prohibited multiple accounts per customer. That way, customers would only register their 5 or 10 best dot coms.

Those who approved the silly unaffordable promo idea that wasted everybody's time need to be flogged 😂 and then made to sit on the naughty step for a whole week! I can't imagine the amount of brainstorming for domains that went on over this 'shambles of a promo' period and the valuable time spent! 😂 😂

I never bothered with the Promo anyway as I was very sure partakers would end up paying for it at renewal! I was busy regging a few names at Epik, Dynadot and LetsHost at discounted prices! ☺

Lesson: Beware of freebies, especially domain reg freebies!

One thing is if you are "not allowed" to transfer anywhere, but you can still do what you want with your domain, including selling it, another thing is saying "you can't do anything that does not please us", which is what is happening.

I would like to understand what are our rights when it comes to stories like this. Buying from resellers means that you don't have any rights? What does ICANN (and Nominet) do in these cases? Aren't they supposed to protect your rights as domain owner?

The domains have to stay with them for a full year so they can charge you for the balance of the 1$£ you paid.

There are no real freebies or discounts anywhere on this earth. Someone is paying, has paid or will pay for that freebie/discount by way of taking a loss or making reduced profit!

Only God gives you anything for free! See Matthew 7:7 ☺

Id also like to know my rights, if anyone has any sharp knowledge here, please clarify. I cant imagine a registrar has the right to register domains and charging people for them and then capping the services at whatever point and in which ever way they like to do so.

If when you regged @ 1$ Promo price, the terms were 'no transfer out within the 1st 12 months', then you are bound. They could argue you could have bought @ full price from them or elsewhere, if you did not wish to be bound. You might be able to get out of it though if you have plenty of time to pursue the matter.

Did they finally reply to this question?
Do you still have domains with them?

no further replies, i tried logging in today and for some reason account is unlocked, but part of my domains are marked as suspended, the other part, which they never charged for are in there and active, tbh, i dont think ill set them for sale as its prob just gonna be a waste of time trying to move them if one sells and in the end itll backfire, ill just delete the credentials and forget about the offer/registrar.. :)
