@Makise ran a poll recently that asked whether we should have a formal 2019 NamePros Awards. I think it's a lot for one member to take on, and so I have decided to start this thread, where we can each contribute our own award to the member/post/thread/registrar/coupon code/avatar/etc that we would like to recognize.

And without further ado...

My 2019 NamePros Award for Most Informative Thread For a Noob goes to:

@Dave

For the thread: "Domain investing"

So far I'm the only presenter... very well, I'll have some more fun here. The next category is:

Where Ya Been?

The Where Ya Been Award goes to the NP member who was a valuable contributor earlier in the year but has been inactive for an extended period of time.

And the Bernie goes to...

@Kate

Kate seemed very knowledgeable. I'm sure I'm not the only one who misses her on these boards.

Feel free to join in and give your own award to someone/something.

I'd like to give the award for:

Most Thoughtful Responses
to: @Bob Hawkes

Come on up, Bob!!
*peers into the audience and motions for him to get on stage*

I had fun making that gif. Maybe I should make a more generic one so people don’t feel obligated to align themselves with my avatar. I’ll be back later with that. Use any of my images as you like.

But spread some joy!

Some time back I quietly speculated to myself, who would populate a Namepros Dream Team to cover all domaining aspects. So far you are brainpicking me astutely. Keep up the good work

Love the logo-award, Bernard! Nice job. Classy, and kick-ass! Gotta get it molded and mounted. Copper or Bronze metal would be perfect, on a solid walnut base.

Props to Makise for bringing the idea forward.

Superlatives are always fun way to recognize and give a nod to valuable contributors in many categories. This is a great start. I envision a few stages though, in the future. Have some pre-determined categories, and then nominees for each category. Something along the lines of BrandCougar's highly successful domain reg contest (inspired by user Want2learn), engagement was phenomenal, and finalists were determined by votes.

Superlatives also drive folks to strive for their very best, if they would like to be recognized, not to mention, they also recognize those whom may least expect it, those whom work behind the scenes!

https://www.namepros.com/threads/thunderdome-april-2019-hand-reg-contest-dot-com-only.1131094/

I'm sure this could be the beginning of a yearly end-of-the year tradition, and we just needed someone to grab the reins and start steering (Bernard!)

So for now, rather than just awarding the award to whom I deem the winner, just want to throw out a couple more categories we might consider (all NP related):

- Favorite Company Rep
- Favorite Seller
- Favorite Buyer
- Favorite Contributor
- Most Influential Member
- Most Trusted Poster
- Favorite Pro
- Best-Liked New Member
- Best-Liked Oldest Member
- Wackiest Member
- Most Interesting Member
- Favorite New Hand Reg'r
- Nicest NP'r
- Favorite Straight-Shooter
- Favorite Thread-Started
- Best Portfolio (.coms)
- Best Portfolio (nGTLDs)
- Best Portfolio (ccTLDs)

etc etc and what have you not.. :) Imagine a member winning at more than one category!

I'd like to give the award for: @Rob Monster for best registrar category.

he's more friendly to the domainers and he's building strong tools for the domain community.

None of the CEO (registrar) helped in the forum for newbies but he's doing it very well, even it's his business but he really helped many domainers.

Cheers (y)

Here is an alternative to the original gif I made. Anyone can use either image as they like.

Those are some great categories, HotKey. I like the Hand Reg'r one. One member's regs really stood out in my mind when I joined in Q1. I might call him to the stage later on.

Thank you all for helping me learn so much over the past year.

I think the right way to do it is to shortlist some names and run it through a Poll...let members here at NP vote and decide for each category...That would be fair for everyone.

Regards
😊

Agreed. For some reason I think Bob H would be awesome at assembling a poll if he is inclinded to do so and has the time.

We should all come up with award categories maybe in this thread (if OP doesn't mind) or start another thread for brainstorming ideas.

IMO, Bernard has made an awesome logo...put a tm on it so someone doesn't steal it! :xf.smile:
