The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
@DAN.COM In my opinion, it could be great to introduce an after sale feedback system. Credibility is an important factor for successful sales. As Dan's seller, i think it would be very good addition. Great job overall!

Quick update:

We just deployed the frequently requested feature so you can set a different currency per domain listing directly from your portfolio:

Kind regards,

Dan

Great...

What I personally find more important is implementing an account balance similar to what GoDaddy and Afternic do.

Yesterday I received three separate wire transfers at once: $130, $600 and $2,000 (installment and two sales). :xf.eek:

I hope the day will come when I will be able to accumulate funds and withdraw when certain threshold is met.

I hope they could do that quickly, already requested it 2 or 3 times but nothing change for the moment.

There are no reasons to believe they will do that quickly. When I asked them first time some months back, they told me “the feature is indeed on our TODO list, but it’s not a priority at the moment”. So... we can wait loooooong time.

Does anyone know this left-most symbol stands for?

What message does send to buyer through email when an offer is accepted?

Is that any different than ANY email/message that is sent when they click buy now?

Recently, I have included a para about not using AMEX and instead using a cc with foreign transactions allowed - this has improved in conversions when people agree to a price on outbound - maybe DAN can include something like this in a response when an agreement has been reached.

Also - I have had several people mentioning "secret key" . Can you guys elaborate what exactly is that and how does that work?

Has anyone here had an installment transaction at DAN recently? Since last week, installment transactions are fully automated and guided by the DAN Bot.

If you use a registrar that allows releasing the domain instantly, most transfers will complete within just 5 minutes!

I only have old installment plans still running. I guess there is no difference there.

By the way, really looking forward to the new sales lander design that emphasizes the possible monthly installment payment instead of the BIN. Will it be ready soon?

Yes, the last few months have been very slow for me as well. Not just at DAN, but everywhere.

it's really low lately
any idea why?

People buy Christmas gifts, save money for the winter holidays, they just don't buy domain names this time of the year.
I't not just Dan, pretty much everywhere else...

Bankruptcies / closing businesses around the world (some ccTLDs exceptions apply) increased in the Q2-Q3 of 2019 vs Q2-Q3 2018.

Hi Wizard,

Automated domain verification will be deployed soon. Patience is a virtue ;)

Indeed, new installment transactions are handled by our DAN Bot.

We're pushing sellers for a reason to accept long term installments. When you do accept installments (we'll offer installments up to 5 years soon), you create a recurring income which helps you also with additional revenue in slower months. December for example always is a slow month. Creating recurring income from your portfolio should be a big priority for all domain investors.

The new lander upgrade is almost done. We do not launch anything that isn't extremely extensively tested on all fronts.

We need to iron out some last details before we can offer these landers to our sellers.

Here's the latest sneak preview:

*Note that when you as a seller are logged in your sellers account that the for sale page will indicate that you're online to improve sale conversions. We're implementing real-time elements on our for sale pages and in the seller back office in the coming time to reach new highs in terms of improving the conversion rate of our landing pages.

Kind regards,

Dan

Thanks for the update. I really like the feature showing seller's online status and average response time. I think this will give buyers even more confidence in DAN.

Looks pretty neat. Few things that most of us would like;

Communication with person making offer without being forced to counter or decline, it just forces us into situations we don't want to be in.

An option for the buyer to leave us a message of sorts, maybe a widget alongside dan chat box saying contact the seller? Asking this because with DAN still being in growth phase the replies on chat box could be late.

A notification/email of sorts when someone clicks buy now but doesn't checkout successfully.

Option to communicate with buyer post sale - this could work well if people have other inventory the buyer might have an interest in.

The option to choose payout method once the transfer is completed.

Allow AMEX card payments and fix issues with buyer facing issues regarding American banks terming transactions is fraudulent (have had this far too many times to be ignored)

These are all features I'd love.

Also waiting for DAN registrar and a lot more features.

On a side note, December so far has been brilliant already around 2K with about 7 or so transactions.

Coincidentally, just yesterday a potential buyer dropped me this message after making an initial offer of 100 USD and my counter.

So yes, that would be an added advantage to some extent.

You’re pushing??

Have you considered that some investors (myself included) MAY NOT prefer PayPal? I want to be able to withdraw multiple payouts at once via single Wire.

Currently, if I have 10 x $100 recurring payments per month, I will pay around $200 for 10 separate Wire transfers. Does it make any sense to make installments a big priority in this scenario?

This feature you request is a must-have.

On any payment above $200 USD I get charged 25 USD wire transfer fee.

I would love that feature and also option to come up with a combined invoice for all payments fetched together because my bank requests invoice every single time.

Hi Umer,

"Communication with person making offer without being forced to counter or decline, it just forces us into situations we don't want to be in."

We used to offer this and it's not doable because sellers will use the system wrong and negotiate in text without using the system buttons. When the system does not officially know at what point in negotiation you and the buyer are, transactions are initiated at wrong prices and need to be canceled, re-initiated, etc.

That's why we ask you to always first use the system buttons, then send your message and after sending your message either send them a counter or submit their offer price for them to accept after seeing your message.

"Allow AMEX card payments and fix issues with buyer facing issues regarding American banks terming transactions is fraudulent (have had this far too many times to be ignored)"

If we start accepting AMEX again, we'd have to increase our commission due to AMEX fraud and have to start charging the seller for chargebacks. The seller protection program we offer is something that has cost our sellers a lot of money since we take all chargeback hits at the moment and do not foot the bill to you.

Trust us, a buyer that's interested to buy, can always find a way to pay. Buyers can use an AMEX card via Paypal for example.

"On a side note, December so far has been brilliant already around 2K with about 7 or so transactions."

Congrats and keep up the great work!

"Coincidentally, just yesterday a potential buyer dropped me this message after making an initial offer of 100 USD and my counter."

This is exactly why we do not offer that feature. We're working on our for sale pages since 2013 and used to have that feature active for two years and it hurts your sales in the end.

The model we're working hard to make the norm in the industry is a model where no negotiation is required anymore. Our new lease to own model doubles down on that notion.

When you have set a BIN price of $2000 for example and offer a payment plan of just $20 a month - almost any potential end-user can all of sudden afford the price that you have set. Sellers are more competent as well to price domains than end-users which just want a domain that matches their branding for as little expenses as possible.

Your BIN price then is validated and the buyer will have all information at his or her disposal to instantly transact with you.

However, when you offer the option to make an offer next to a BIN listing - you already give the buyer a so-called escape to try to negotiate a better deal which always introduces friction and friction results in fewer sales.

The "contact seller" option is even worse for conversions because you do not portray a definitive and final proposal to the buyer but again provide an escape to negotiate.

The vast majority of our most successful sellers all are following the same selling method as mentioned by us above (BIN + installments).

Everything stated above is 100% backed by our marketplace data as we do not leave anything up to chance. Some might not agree with us but we base our decisions on data and not gut feelings.

So it's very hard for us to introduce a feature like that from which we know that it will hurt your overall sales and not improve them.

Kind regards,

Dan
