Dear all,
I prefer to make this new thread, instead of to continue other.
To be honest, I was a little influenced by the thread about the keyword "futuristic".
Then, just in case, I tried handreg six names related to that keyword. IMO, "Nothing to lose..."
One of them is "FuturisticFaXX" which I handreg on 28 November 2019. A day after, 29 November 2019, I got an inquiry from someone, sent via [email protected] to my email, asking how much the price of this name.
I reply by writing the price below $1K (because I am still underestimated on this keyword, due to pessimistic in other thread).
He/she did not yet send back his interest or counter offer. (I understand maybe it is in weekend)
I am happy, of course! However, I'm curious whether the inquiry is true or just playing around.
I hope @Rob Monster can verify this inquiry.

Kindly please give advices or suggestons.

Thank you

That inquiry looks legit.

If you search the email, you find he is building some kind of site related to Futuristic.

If I was to guess, it's probably the thread starter (of that other thread) just looking for pricing and to further justify his thoughts on what are in my opinion are truly bad investments.

I also advise you to read my response in that thread as the original poster in that thread quite clearly does not yet understand what makes good domains to invest in:
Atmosphere Global .. it's cool to see you have newcomer enthusiasm. But you really need to tone it down several levels.

There are many reasons already mentioned why Futuristic_____.com domains are not wise investments. Instead of fighting everyone on this, I highly suggest you listen to what some of the more experienced domainers are trying to explain to you.

At the end of the day "Futuristic" is just not the best choice as part of branding. "Future" would be much better and more usable prefix. I own FutureDNA (in com), I like it a good biotech brand. FuturisticDNA.com would be a worthless domain.

Also .. please stop spamming the same things over and over, as well as stop posting 3-4 posts in a row ... even if it's a thread you started. Not only is it bad etiquette, but it also makes you look desperate to prove your point and actually makes anything you say seems like you're only doing it out of self interest.

Good luck with your domains all the same ...

That being said, try to use some of the data you get (email/IP) from Epik to reverse search the potential buyer.

Given the timing and the specific fact the original poster of the other thread seems to be tracking new registrations containing the word "Futuristic", I'd say it's 99% sure the offer isn't a real one. But there's always that 1% .. impossible to say for sure without knowing the domain .. but definitely don't get your hopes up.

I'd also caution you about taking any advice from that thread. I admittedly didn't read it until the end .. but it's very clear that unfortunately the thread starter doesn't have a good grasp on the reality of domains nor on the reality language/branding/marketing. Sorry if it comes across as harsh to that other person, but I'm getting really tired of people refusing to listen when there is a large consensus of experienced domainers who are very strongly telling someone they are doing something very wrong when it comes to domain investment, yet they continue to ignore the facts presented to them. (again .. admittedly he/she might have changed in the last couple of pages of that thread .. but all I saw until I stopped following it was deliberate ignorance).

ADDED: Thanks to the information added above and a couple reverse searches, it appears that indeed the email belongs to someone who already owns about 80 _____Futuristic.com domains. So almost definitely a domainer/collector and likely unfortunately not an end-user. Almost all 80 are registered at Uniregistry (back in February). Cross-referencing a bit more data (which I won't post here for privacy reasons) and looking at a few patterns, I'd say it's about 99.99% sure that the email belongs to the original poster in that other thread. I suggest you reach out to him/her to confirm.
https://www.namepros.com/threads/futuristic-the-domains-industry-is-asleep.1164778/

Also .. please do not take any of the above as a thumbs up or thumbs down of your domain .. it might be good or it night not be .. without seeing it completely, it's impossible to know if it's good or not. (It is a plus that you have F+F alliteration going on. :) .. That being said .. I plead with you to look at some of the posts in that thread from those offering constructive advice on why the original poster has invested in some domains that are below what most would consider "investment quality" domains.

Good luck with your domain either way! :)

ADDED #2 .. Epik's reverse IP tool (which I've found to be very useful for my own inquiries) actually says Orlando .. which actually further reinforces the other data I had previously found. Reach out to that original poster in the other thread .. was likely just him getting excited at the idea of other people buying "futuristic" domains, as in his mind it seems to justify his views on the value of his domains.

Thank you very much @Ategy.
Your comments and advices are really appreciated.
As I said before, those my handregs are "just in case". Nothing to loose, only some domains.

Best Regards
.

Be very very careful .. those handregs can and do add up VERY quickly .. then in a year you'll also need to renew etc. More importantly, that money could be spent on better and wiser investments (again, speaking in general since I don't actually know your domains in question).

Most importantly .. when you see someone desperately and spammingly trying to convince others about a particular type/class of domain .. be sure to take everything that is said with a grain of salt. PARTICULARLY when the person in question deliberately ignore rational arguments.

Hey, Rob, I admire your willing to help and that you are active in important topics for domain investors. But, I would like to advice you to remove the screenshot and whois link as you are spreading personal data - emails and IP of a person that made an inquiry.

Cheers

I second that. Even if Epik privacy policy does allow such things to become public (on a public forum), which should not be the case...
As for the inquiry - I've never seen inquiries coming a day after handregging. Very unusual. And strange. It wasn't recently dropped domain, was it?

Guys - Just FYI, I did ask the Mods to remove it last night but they did not take action yet.

As for this particular domain, it looks like a legit effort by a guy to corner the market on a particular term. Some are into "AI", others "VR", others "Drone", "Vape", or "5G". Well, this guy likes "futuristic".

There's a possibility it's not the same guy that started the futuristic thread but I'm with @Ategy on this one.

He has a lot of futuristic Keyword names, hundreds(?) of them. Look up the thread and you'll see. That would look like someone is trying to corner the market. Throw in a somewhat developed site and you could easily make it look like a legit buyer.

@BabayS I hope we're wrong. Good luck!

@BabayS

I'm actually 100% sure it's this guy. Researching his email leads to futuristic2020.wixsite.com as you can see in the screenshot.

Futuristic2020/com is owned by .... You guessed it.

It leads to his medium account, same spammy posts as here on NP. Same goes for Twitter, linkedin and some other forums.

Everybody is free to create a buzz/hype things but be cautious!

Thanks a lot @NameDeck. Your analysis are highly appreciated. I will continue to find out the truth of the inquiry.
@Soofi, it look like a bet. But I am nothing too loose, only bought some domains related in "Futuristic...". And then let it flows like a water.

And for all, thank you very much for all advices and Sugestions.

Best Regards

Aye....some people are so gullible. Of course it is BS - people don't seek out domains that way.

I'm ready to start a site - SnakeOilDomains.com. I will clearly make millions.

Of course you have something to lose .. you have 100% of your initial investment to lose. ;)

Also .. every domain investment is like a "bet". The difference here is that based on the domains in the other thread, someone would be paying $10 for a 1/10,000 chance of winning $1000. The math is just horrible for that domainer and the "Futuristic" domains I saw in his portfolio. Effectively for every $1 bet, the average expected return is ONE CENT (=99% of your investment money lost)! (And I think I'm being very generous with the 1/10k odds).

No bet is guaranteed in the world of domains, but betting on that domainer's type of domains is one of the worst bets possible .. there are definitely much much better types of domains to bet on that will give you much better odds of making money (or at least of not losing as much).

Yes, everything to lose - a slow death at $6.00 to $10 per cut.....Aye

Yes. it is really logical calculation. And more than that, your calculations make me be very careful on investing in uncertain keywords. Thank you friend...

DELETE futuristicfaXX.com while still in the grace delete period.

Sure. it is a precise short calculation. I understand. And I have no other argument to argue with.
Thanks a lot @Ja Kai

No problem .. The math and probabilities are a CRUCIAL part of understanding domaining. Even portfolios of "good" domains have very small chances and don't always make long term money.

You need to focus on domains where the expected return on average is more than $1 per $1 investment. Once you figure out how to make "more than $1 on average in revenue" per "$1 of cost", then you can focus on growing your portfolio. But if someone grows their portfolio based on losing math/probabilities then they are only going to lose more and more money.

My Advice. DELETE futuristicfaXX.com while still in the grace delete period.

@Ja Kai .. your advice is correct .. but please never post someone's full domain unless they posted it first. The domain can and will be indexed by Google and potential end-users will see the comments and criticism. It's only ok to post a domain when the owner posts the full domain without spaces or other alterations.

(Note .. that you have 30 minutes after posting where you can edit your post .. you now have 23 minutes left)

@BabayS .. I also suggest you edit your last post .. the part where you quote @Ja Kai

ADDED: I think @Ja Kai means you should delete it now .. some registrars will offer you a refund in the first few days. (Obviously keep it if you can't get a refund)

Sorry, @BabayS - the "futuristic" person is a scam.

They respond to every thread, containing anything close to "futuristic".

I even wrote, as a joke, to invest in "futuristic" domains - at a completely random, non-futuristic thread and the "Futuristic OP" liked or thanked me.

The reason the futuristic person hasn't responded to this thread, is BECAUSE they are the root of the inquiry made through Epik - as exposed above.

AYE!!!!!!
