Hello:

I recently cancelled my account for "geraldgibson.com" with 1and1 Ionos because of their customer service as well as the fact they jacked up the price. When I tried to communicate with a person in their customer service I couldn't understand them. I had to communicate through emails, which were delayed or not forthcoming. I realize they are a megalithic company, but what I don't need is not an industry giant; I need a host provider I can count on and is worth the money. What I want in such a company is (1) and simple interface, (at the most reasonable rate), (2) an easy transition (preferably using my old domain name which is still for sale, and (3) a good customer service. My original domain is so unique (geraldgibson.com) it has remained for the past couple of months available. I have all my website date on hand and the master of my website locally. What I need is a host provider that can swoop in and get me up and running, without charging me a huge entry fee. Secondly, I would like a host provider that will help me get traffic onto my website. With 1an1, my traffic was abysmally low. It might seem as if I am asking a lot but, considering that I am retired and on a fixed income, it's what I need.

Thank you, ---- Inkspot (Gerald)

A2hosting is offering black Friday deals right now.
I have used them for about a year.

How is traffic related to webhosting? they just host your website on their server, traffic is your responsibility, only service uptime has effect on your traffic so that you dont lose traffic from downtimes other than that they have no responsibility for your traffic.

Try BlueHost they are one of the best and they have excellent service.

You can also try a VPS if you have technical experience, the best is Digitalocean you can start at just $5/mo which is same cost for shared webhosting.

VPS is much better than shared hosting, you get dedicated reserved resources for your website (virtual server for single website). However if your website is simple and has low traffic then you dont need a VPS, shared hosting will be more than enough.

Thank you dna and Ostrados I think I will go with Bluehost. What would you recommend about me doing the job myself in making my site more visible.

I don't know how far the corruption at Endurance goes but
I recommend that you use a non-Endurance host.
Hostgator, however is corrupt. Years ago they infected
my websites with a virus that put pop-up ads on my websites.
When I complained to Hostgator they said that I was responsible
for the virus and if I complained that I would have
to pay them to remove the virus as it was dangerous to their server.
However, if I didn't complain about the virus, apparently
my virus wasn't a threat to their server and my websites
could continue...with the popup ads. Using FTP I could see that
my website files were larger on the server then on my computer,
so Hostgator was responsible for adding the virus. I deleted my website
files on the server and reloaded from my computer and the popup went away.

I have recently seen on Namepros that Hostgator is still
doing the same thing, years later, and asking customers to pay to
remove a virus that they themselves install.

Quote from Wiki:

"In January 2019, the magazine WebsitePlanet uncovered client-side vulnerability in some of the largest hosting companies in the world: Bluehost, DreamHost, HostGator, iPage and OVH".
