Petition @ Change.org started by Jacob Malthouse (ex ICANN, dot Eco)

In the largest online land grab in history, the .ORG domain is being sold to a private equity fund.

The Internet Society, who runs .ORG, also plans to sell the other key nonprofit domains .NGO and .ONG. All three domains will be privatized.

These people have designed the system from the inside to exit icann, and profit from the outside.

It is corruption, and conflict of interest at it's worst, with so much transparency today with technology, the fact this is happening in 2019 with something that affects tens of millions of people is unheard of.

Someone needs to stop it, nobody likes corruption, money is probably best spent placing newspaper articles, and paying bloggers to blog about it thru ICA, than shooting off letters that are just shredded.

Petition? OK, signing it would not harm. Nor would it help, unfortunately. It is all about $$$. If and only if interested parties are able to accumulate funds and spend them for lobbying - then something may be changed. Yes, lobbying is legalized corruption, but all the actors (ICANN, PIR, private equity firm) are in U.S. where lobbying is legal. One tip - do not use normal "production" email for such things, change.org will also use it to send "recommendations" (spam) to sign other petitions they think you may be interested in...

indeed a huge broad daylight corruption. How can a private company take over such massive extension and then even domain under it can be hammered, monitored or retrieved for no just reasons.

Signed but I feel like The Internet Society is at fault here for even thinking of doing such a move that I wonder if they even used their profits for what they said they did.

I feel the same. at least there should have been a public poll to sample holders of the extension's approval or disapproval rate before deal considered.

.co scenario..
what if ethos capital will to increase renewals for one-word high value names like change.org from 10 usd to 10,000 usd per year? like as crazy renewals in radix registry.

That would suck, most likely happen after it drops like .co does, but they would have 10 years of locks in they could do, but it would devalue the domain greatly with future value.
