I personally check NameBio for sales data prior to any sale or purchase. It's a fantastic tool and provides unbiased sales data. @Michael has done an awesome job keeping the data as accurate as possible. Anyone making a sale without atleast checking Namebio.com is doing a disservice to themselves and possibly leaving money on the table or paying too much.

Just today, I was in negotiation on the sale of a domain. I paid $1000 for it a few years ago and someone made an offer to purchase for $10,000. If I only went by what I paid for it, it would have been a "shoot the moon" sale! 10X on a $1000 investment..in under 2 years. But as I always do before any counter offers, I check Namebio.com and I noticed that most sales with the keywords that my domain had were in the 30,000 to 50,000 range with a high of $165,000.

Needless to say, I countered with a much higher number and did not accept the $10,000 offer.

Everyone do your due diligence before any purchase or sale! And thank @Michael for keeping Namebio.com free!

Namebio is great for getting a sense of trends. Probably my most used tool, with the possible exception of expireddomains.net

DNPric.es is a much better source.

More data, and it's free.

By the way your rejection of that offer was probably a good move, but a 9k profit I would have wanted to know how HE came to that offer.

Good point about namebio, I didn't for my previous sale but I definitely will use it going forward. Although I've been setting all BIN prices for my listings. Do you use Make an offer over BIN for most/all of your listings?

Hi

what if the past sales prices were $10k or lower, would you have taken the offer?

also
how long do you think it will be, before you get similar offer
and do you think that buyer will increase their offer?

imo..

Nope.

there’s too much of an over-reliance on them.

Like any tool and data. They are good for references. Just think of it as an autotrader but with less data and more flexibility.

I use it but each domain is unique. One letter different can mean everything.

Great as a guide but I dont limit my prices based on reported sales. Many go unreported.

What's tough for me are acronyms. I sold a few different 4L, for decent prices, but didn't see the acronyms the buyers saw. I was a bit aggravated with myself on one in particular.

Anyway, pricing is tough. I look at the data but I also ask myself, will I be happy with the deal? Will I regret selling now? Tough questions to answer sometimes, but data is definitely helpful in certain situations.
