Hi NPers,

I observed a lot of domainer and domain sales popular platform place much value on brandable and how sweet the domain name is in English and other languages than the SEO factor.

Saw some domain sold in the popular platform for $5,000 - $20,000 above which at my check has just Domain Authority DA1 and about 80% Spam score.

But personally I seem to be much crazy about SEO feature of domains (maybe because am an SEO expert with over 7years+ experience and spend almost half of my day researching niches for clients and acquiring new knowledge on SEO).

The SEO features domains make good returns faster and long-term too for the end-user and could get started ranking well from day one with quality contents.

That had let me start my own disruptive expired domains website getdomaindata /com,
which focuses mainly on expired domains for SEO benefits even at a crazy discounted price as I aim to build the brand trust for now over making profits.

Just like to hear your view and other domainers here to know if I have other out there that also think outside the box when it comes to researching and picking domains to add to your portfolio.

And if you are just end-user reading this, will appreciate your contribution too on which do you look for first in your domain search either for niche and business site.

Finding means someone did a lot of work or spent money. You think reversing question will make brands easier to find than generic? Are you assuming any address with content and seo will rank over a site with less then your right. Ford could make more money with cars.com end of story.

Personally I consider if a domain is brandable and short first, I don't particularly think of SEO keywords because Google's algorithm favors brandable these days(they place more emphasis on content and referrals than keyword urls)

You are right and saying SEO does not mean the domain must have keywords, it could be brandable but you check things like Domain Authority, Backlinks.....Am sure of good expired domain with seo feature when bought and used for crapy contents will sooner or later lose those seo features but if quality content placed on it. It makes ranking faster more realistic than a brandable without seo benefits.

RESULT (Updated after every comment to this thread)
A) Brandable first = 2
B) SEO First = 2

Winning = A & B

sure. one of the factors considered by search engines like Google is domain age and that is why even if your SEO is right with quality content..you still need to give it time.
So, starting with an aged domain with high domain authority and backlinks have massive advantage to kick start seo of a website from day one.

I did an experiment recently on the benefits of SEO feature in the expired domain. The result was ranking for about 25 keywords in 24hours of swapping the domain which I registered new about 11months earlier (same content struggling with the old domain pick a high position in SERP within 24hours). I documented it here pretpersonnelenligne.org/seo/seo-case-study/

The fact is Both types of domains really take a lot of work and it depends or where your niche and skills lay. I personally have only ever sold 'Brandable' type domains, (those that can be Trademarked within the intended class) ie, on-target but not too specific to be considered descriptive.

Some people have the quality of good inventiveness whilst others are far better at analysis and factual data. I enjoy being creative but I don't think I could stay the pace on repetitive analysis. Those that tend to best in each field are usually playing to their strengths - and hence successful

Yeah, really like your view. I guess most domainer will likely hunt for domains based on their strength first.
Really appreciate sharing your view.

Total myth extensive talks on subject at webmastersun and I have ranked gtld page 1 in a week.
No seo value for aged names. I own several over 20 years old and have new sites doing better.
Still old names are just generally better sounding as everything was available.

Sure, quality content really matters and when placed on domain with already SEO features, it pushes the content visibility better and faster.

You are right, a domain that is old but the previous owners did not build quality backlinks and content to have built its SEO up like domain authority will likely still perform poorer than a younger domain with solid backlinks and domain authority.

Domain age only becomes more useful when the age tallies with domain authority and other SEO feature...that's the sweetest spot

that's another important factor to confirm because if it ages without clean SEO history...it not better than less aged expired domains

I registered myself in 98 Google does not give preference to aged domains. Some may fair better due to backlinks etc but it isn't the age itself.
