Good luck with your sales!

Any insights you want to share.

Sure..

It was originally a make offer Afternic listing with minimum offer of $20... Received a price request from afternic agent and I quoted buy now price of $1400... Also noticed 2 bids at godaddy auctions make-offer listing... no response from afternic agent for a week and auction bids also vanished... so reduced the buy now price to $349 and it sold the very next day... done in haste,, rookie mistake.. still happy.. my first end-user sale.. Thanks for asking but I think many members don't like discussion in this thread. Thanks again.

Congrats, your .co sales have been very inspiring. Tempus seems crazy, what made you decide to ask for $15K?

Anecdotally, wilder dot co was one of my first handregs when I started domaining in 2016. Hindsight 20/20!

Thanks! The domain had a DAN lander. On Afternic, it had a BIN with a minimum offer of $6000.

Thanks, that’s pretty much the same setup I’m currently using.

Interesting they hit BIN without even trying negotiate with that set.
Thanks

I assume the (com) bought this one after seeing they got large funding few months back?

...what made you decide to ask for $15K?

Thank you - I'm a big fan of latin and greek words (Tempus means Time in latin).
I based the price on a combination of registered extensions, comparable sales and variety of potential end users.

I assume the (com) bought this one after seeing they got large funding few months back?

Thanks - not certain who the buyer is yet but it may be a defensive purchase by the .com owner.

Wow! you are a .CO king. Impressive. I dare not go .CO (except for 3L.co) :).

How big is your .co portfolio?

Thank you - about 1200 .CO domains in total at the moment. Of those, around 800 will get renewed.

That is $20K in renewals or enough to renew 2500 .coms. Do you feel your returns from .co are on par/better than holding .com portfolio of 2500 names, if the acquisition costs were comparable?

I honestly don't know if I could answer this with certainty and/or without bias. However, I feel like the higher holding costs of my portfolio are offset by a lower initial acquisition cost.

*It's not as low now with premium tiers in place and increasing aftermarket prices.

Thank you. You do know your niche. Although it is certainly disrupted by introduced premium pricing for many drops. Basically, what you'd compare is to this:

2500 .coms, mix of hand regs and closeouts, average cost per name of $12-15 depending on the mix, 1% sell through with average net from a sale of $1600, so $30K-35K to acquire, 25 sales x 1600 per year = $40K, minus $20K to renew, $20K net.

Thanks - I'm pretty confident I've been outperforming that comparison. Will try to share another post on the AMA soon with more details.

Sold Horizon/Logistics(.)com for $12,800 USD in July 2019

upload_2019-11-22_18-3-20.png

This is the second-highest reported sale in the logistics niche. Acquired it for $687 USD in 2018.
I have received many offers and all were low xxx USD and never received x,xxx USD offer for it but I still believed in it and quoted 15k USD every time. Reduced asking price to $12,800 if the payment must be done in 48 hours. The buyer has a live site already.

Gold / Media . co

Sales venue: Dan.com
Sales price: $200
Hold time: 2 months
Purchase price: $3.80 (handreg, Name.com promo)
Profit: $174.42

I received a $100 offer for the name 10 days after registration. I countered with $375, no response, offer expired. Yesterday, almost 2 months after the last activity, I sent another counter offer, $250, and surprisingly I received response in minutes, a $200 offer, which I accidentally accepted. I wanted to reply with "let's meet halfway, how about $225?", but I clicked on the wrong button :D It's a nice sales nonetheless, almost covered my 60-ish .co domain registration this week :) The transaction was very smooth and fast, I received the payment in less than 24 hours.

Sold TripFluent/com
Marketplace: SH
Selling Price: $1699
My cut: $425
Acquisition/cost: $0
Name was registered and renewed by SH since: 03/08/2017
Background: I've been with SH for quite a longtime. Ever since it was just a platform for us Creatives who came up with brandnames, logos and taglines for different startups and companies. Before it became a marketplace for external domains/domainers. It's actually through squadhelp that I first heard of domaining, I think this was thanks to a comment by @hawkeye and so began my foray into the domaining world almost exactly 2 yrs ago. I've sold several domains ever since I started. Most I haven't reported here due to confidentiality agreements with buyers. However, I've still not yet matched the amount of money I made as a creative back in the day in SH...took a lot of hardwork and brainstorming sessions but it was fun as hell!
P.s: If you follow @Michael Cyger, Efty, or DNAcademy. He introduces you to a great way of making money with SH at no costs. Which is one beautiful thing with SH marketplace. The above sale is an example of such.
