Yesterday (November 18th) I received an email from namesilo that my domain name (TokenizeEverything.com) was to be transferred out to another registrar, there was also an option to cancel if i follow the URL which I quickly did.

I logged into my account to find the name missing. I spoke to support who had said that ‘When you cancelled the transfer it was deactivated’ although they reinstated the name to my account which I can see is there and thought that was the end of it.
A few hours later I check the domain to find it has a different landing page. Wtf!
Go to Whois to find it’s under a network solutions registry owned by a guy named David shoop jr. Fb profile https://m.facebook.com/DavidShoopJr

I log into my namesilo account, and there it is. The name is still in my account.

I try to make changes, nameservers, make Whois private, but none of it works. It’s like the domain is only there in text but it’s not in my account as I have no control on it, if that makes sense.
I spoke to namesilo, they have given me no answers except their IT people are looking into it.
Now I see this guy has added a WordPress site to my domain name. Whats odd, is when looking at the login history, there is no unusual login to my account.
Any thoughts on what is going on? Has my name been stolen? If it has why show your full name on Whois? Or is this a glitch on namesilos end?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I also see that the .com of your name is currently listed on DAN as a Make Offer by a user who has about 120 other names listed on there. The person has been on DAN since 2017 so not an account just created to quickly flip.

The other ones (.net, .info, .org) were just created in this summer.

Fingers crossed this has a happy ending somehow for you.

Bob
Thanks Bob. appreciate your help

Ive just seen another one of my names on snapnames...(tokenizedsilver.com) I purchased this together with Tokenizeeverything.com earlier this year from the same person and had them both transferred to my namesilo account.
Is it possible that this guy purchased from snapnames (bin) and they just removed the name. Is it possible it could happen again with Tokenizedsilver, if someone hits the buy now button?

A few notes of detail:

The update date/time: 2019-11-18T18:25:43Z might be when it transferred to NetSol.

upload_2019-11-19_12-35-32.png

Also, note the new expiration date: 2021-11-01T21:29:18Z

Emphasis on 2021, supporting a narrative where the domain owner renewed the domain, extending the expiration to 2020, then the transfer to NetSol bumped the expiration up a year to 2021.

Yes, the name was transferred out yesterday 18th, the guy added another year probably when he purchased a transfer to netsol. Whats odd is on the email saying its being transferred out, it gives me the option to cancel the transfer, and even more odd that the name is still in my namesilo account. Yet i have no control.
Namesilo have now put a block on my account for security so even i cannot login.

What exact time(s) did you receive email(s) from NameSilo about the transfer out?

Also, since no WHOIS History record is available on DomainIQ (though there might be an updated record on DomainTools) shows a 2020 expiration date, can you look at the email you would have received from NameSilo when you renewed it. Curious to know the 2020 renewal timestamp (not that it's of huge importance -- just helps build a timeline)

Don't want to panic but is there any possibility that was some kind of hacker hacked into namesilo and messed around there backend coding then send you a mimic email that "cancel button" actually linked into the "confirm button", because you said you didn't have auth code...it's weird.

It’s possible, but why with one of my names, why not a premium one word or a 3L

  • October 1st, 2019, 13:45Z - Domain Renewed to 2020 @namesilo
  • November 18th, received transfer email at what time?
  • November 18th, 2019, 18:25Z WHOIS updated to reflect a 2021 NetSOl expiration.

Also, check your browser history to see the exact time/date you opened the email and/or clicked the namesilo link to approve/deny the transfer.

(to help build exact timelines)

The email was sent at 13:45pm, i opened it at 16:11pm.
Looking at tokenizedsilver.com which was purchased at the same time from the same person. Its listed everywhere at $475. network solutions, namesilo, name.com. Not by me but the previous owner.
Im thinking this was the same for tokenizeeverything.com and the guy hit the bin. Although the funds went to the previous owner.

Ahhh!!!

Just a guess or confirmation?

Edit: Maybe ask the previous domain owner of whom you purchased the domain from if they know anything about the sale?

The IP pointing to Network Solution (ISP Defense.Net), mx1.netsolmail.net. This looks like a typical pharming DNS. Also ... check your Computer/s for malware, adware, viruses, and check your local host file for possible anomalies.

Windows
C:Windows/System32/drivers/etc
MacOS
1. open Terminal
2. In Terminal type: sudo nano /etc/hosts
3. and then hit return
4. Enter your admin password
5. You're now in the native text editor
6. Usually you'll find 127.0.0.1 localhost and/or 255.255.255.255 broadcast
7. If there's anything extra, copy and google for info.

Regards

So I think this could happen to anyone that has ever received a pushed (Namesilo) domain from another domainer who had it previously listed and opted in at a fast transfer marketplace.

Seems like that's what happened here. The Namesilo name was pushed but the past opt in for fast transfer was not cancelled with the push.

Namesilo should fix this issue immediately.

I wonder if this could also happen with domains purchased at Namesilo expired auctions.

If that is the case, this is a massive issue.

This is the type of thing why I have been hesitant when it comes to all these fast transfer options at various venues. It can be hard to keep up with who listed the domain, who currently owns it, etc. If the accounting is not done properly this can happen.

Hope you get it back or get paid for it.

I would contact the 'new owner' with a brief email stating I have neither sold nor given authorisation for the domain to be moved or sold.

Old owner sold domain they didn’t own would be what I think.

The most probable thing is that it was previously listed and now sold via fast transfer, if this is the case and a name can indeed change hands and then still be taken out by fast trasfer, then this is a MAJOR issue, as it allows someone to sell a domain for thousands, and seconds before doing so list it as fast trasfer, (for $200 or $500)... and once it is in the new owners account, purchase it and get it right back (and the money since they purchased it), if this is indeed the case that needs immediate attention by Afternic and @namesilo and IMMIDIATE FIXING.

The other somewhat more obvious question, what good does an email serve where you can reject a transfer, if it dosnt actually reject it when you do so...O_o:oops:

Just one possibility?

I noticed that there are two similar names registered.

TokenizeEverything.com (registered 11/1/2018)
Tokenizeverything.com (registered 3/4/2018)

Are you sure of which one is yours? Those double "e"s can be confusing.

OP's screenshot email receipt from NameSilo shows TokenizeEverything (EE)

Can @Joe Styler or @Sedo confirm if this name sold as Fast Transfer through one of their network?

I always realised the risk associated with the 'fast transfer' scenario, and as such never put my domains under that risk.

When anyone purchases my domain, I wanna be the one to click 'authorize the transfer', and savor ☺ the moment. Not giving that pleasure to anyone else. 😂 I don't want to wake up one day to find system error at Afternic reduced my domain price from $2k to $2 and its been sold and transferred while I was in bed, and I now owe Afternic a $200 commission. 😂 Nah nah nah thanks.
