SquadHelp - Marketplace

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

@GrantP would squadhelp consider putting a limit on the total number of marketplace listings?

I doubt if any market will do that. They can only put a barrier to discourage pple from listing. Brandpa will charge you $5 (logo design) before listing , Brandbucket.com willl charge $1 and still take up to a month to get your submissions reviewed. this will slow down listing and prevent flooding

I don't think this is a good idea.

People should be able to grow their portfolio, like you did, as long as they are adding names of better or comparable quality to the marketplace.

I removed all my names 3 or more months. I have 2 there that I suggested and registered by them. Even those two get no action at all. What I saw interesting is that they changed the name of the ex-BB big portfolio owner who has having many sales to Private Seller :)

The seller probably requested it.

Interesting, so not for everyone?

I don't think it's just a simple name change. Looks like his portfolio is hidden.

And yes, it's a huge pain in the as*. Had mine changed from my real name to nickname but it took me more than 2 months. They only accepted my request when I started joining contests and had my full name showing on the trending creatives list.

Do you prefer to enable installments or no installments? which is better?

I was thinking about disabling installments because I heard many stories about buyers stop paying after 1 or 2 payments.

I have no idea if my names got rejected because of the name or the price I suggested. Does anyone know how important that is? If I suggest $2999 as a price and SH thinks $1295 is the better valuation - will it be rejected on that alone? Or is the valuation hurdle more along a larger gap like if the price I wanted is $9999 and SH thinks it's worth $1999. Where's the line?

If they like the name, they'll accept with lesser price. Don't overthink your submissions success, its quite random.

Thank you for sharing this screenshot, I've been quite confused about that aspect of things as well. I wish they'd include a quick note with a reason for rejection to help guide future submissions. Studying names they've approved previously doesn't seem to be helping my odds.

Currently have 61 domains listed. Zero sales so far. Am astonished by great names they reject but in the same time total garbage they accept from others. Will give a time till the New Year, if no sales then i'll withdraw all.

From the posts I've read, I think there are many others feeling the same way and I think there will be a mass exodus. It's a shame because I had high hopes

I'm gonna stick around with them. But I had a sale last week and requested a payout on Thursday then got an email saying "We will process the request within 1-3 business days and you should receive an email confirmation once the request has been processed." But business 3 days just ended and no payout so far.

So its kinda vague how that works.

But look at the names that get bought. Many are "total garbage", but they sold, often for $2k or more.

This branding thing is really weird.

@NYJimbo Did you fill out a tax related document? If it's the first time you're earning money there and asking to withdraw- they require you to fill out something before you get paid. At least that's how I remember it.
