What would be a great name for a global network of cool domainer-friendly co-working spaces?

Last weekend, I introduced the idea of a "Domain Dojo" or a Domainer-friendly co-working space. Since then we received a number of domain submissions for possible use as brand names for this innovative concept that is currently in the planning stage as part of a larger expansion plan that centers on co-creation.

The basic premise here is that full-time domainers can live almost anywhere. The inherent nature of the industry is that in many ways it can be highly liberating in terms of work location. And yet most domainers are probably living in the same city or town they were living in before they became a domain investor.

In the meantime, there are places in the world where Digital Nomads have become highly productive. You can find entire directories but here is a typical Dojo in a beach community in Indonesia:

There are a growing number of so-called Dojos, that combine community, lodging, dining, and co-working, often strategically placed near beaches and typically with low operating costs.

There are a staggering number of beautiful places in the world with great Internet service, so why be tied down if you don't need to be. I am personally quite fond of Las Palmas in Gran Canarias, in North Africa, a popular destination for Digital Nomads. Others are fond of places like Ubud, Seychelles, Mauritius, Gozo, etc.

For those of us who regularly attend domain conferences like NamesCon, there is clearly a vibrant domain community. However, this is just once per year. So the thinking of this project is to establish a network of Dojos, where domainers can meet, cooperate, learn from each other, and co-create abundance.

As I know a growing number of people in the industry, and know their respective strengths and capabilities, I see opportunities every day to connect dots and help make things happen that might otherwise not happen. Given the right environment, we could all be doing a lot more of that, online and offline. That's the idea.

With that as context, please help select a domain that would fit the Domainer Dojo Lifestyle!

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
In case you were wondering, I was actually dead serious about the Dojo Cruise thing -- cruising from Dojo location to Dojo location.

Rob if people are going to have so much fun being on a cruise ship and hopping around from Dojo to Dojo then when are they going to get any time to get their work done. (I'll be at the blackjack table for most of the cruise :) )

By the way there are also some nomads that live full time on cruise ships, but I don't know how much that costs.

IMO

DomainerCampus
I think the word campus is perfect here, as it implies a place of learning .. while at the same time it is also thought thought of as the grounds where students go out to relax between classes (in this case between work/sales).
Nice multi-meanings there with perfect imagery of learning in a relaxed atmosphere.
On top of that, it's phonetically clear and strong, the two words flow well together. On top of that the word Campus is significantly more recognised than Dojo while also having a clearer meaning more specific to what was originally envisioned.
Are you contradicting to yourself , till now you were fighting for broad appearance and end-users and now DomainerCampus is your winner ?
I am confused now .

No .. I said I wanted it to be "branding" focused. Maybe you'd prefer the following instead?

BrandingCampus

I personally would prefer to see at least some focus on getting entrepreneurs and end-users .. for that "branding" is the best keyword in my opinion. However .. I'm also good with "Naming" based words as a second choice ... can't really say I'd like "Domaining" in that context as the image is more that a domainer is working on domaining (aka do not disturb me while I'm trying to make money) .. but "domainer" is less focused on the work and more focused on the knowledge. So my first choice personal is BrandingCampus .. but DomainerCampus is a little stronger technically .. and while a few supported my pushing of using the word "Branding", not sure if it was enough, the conversation drifted a lot.

In terms of vision I prefer "BrandingCampus", but I think technically DomainerCampus is stronger technically. Do you prefer BrandingCampus or DomainerCampus?

What about Dojosdom(.com) or Dojodom(.net/.org)?

("dom" is "place" and "collection of persons" suffix, also "domain" abbreviation; so is very ideal.)

Honestly now I am not liking any names in the list or recent discussed.

As now it's going to be something different, something very special brand able name which has Co learning and lifestyle incorporated and well flowing together .

I think this is not a right match . Neither it has co learning nor a lifestyle.
Again it's just my thoughts.

I like names that contain brands, and looking at my list of the names that might be for sale, I have the following

Of course naming products at Epik takes sometime and thought and ultimately what is deemed the best is chosen.

I know, I posted it just for fun because there were some talk about branding, that's why I put a smiley after it, but It's a good domain and I might put it to some good use someday.

No, we don't own a RV and never have. My wife's Dad was the head of the US Forestry service in the Pacific Northwest so to say she grew up in the outdoors would be an understatement.

The funny thing is that my wife would happily go on a cruise ship and live for months in a state room cruising the world. No problem. However, she made it clear that she is not signing up for the RV program. :)

In case you were wondering, I was actually dead serious about the Dojo Cruise thing -- cruising from Dojo location to Dojo location.

I am thinking the first Dojo comes online in Q1 of 2020. If it takes off it will be easy to fill a cruise manifest of ~600 for a decent vessel with great amenities.

How will you get 600 people in a dojo? It would have to be a dojo dome lol.

I would like to enter the following:

www. Xanadujo.com

Xanadu - an idealized place of great or idyllic magnificence and beauty.

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan / A stately pleasure-dome decree. Those lines are from the poem "Kubla Khan" (published in 1816) by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Coleridge's fantastic description of an exotic utopia fired public imagination and ultimately contributed to the transition of "Xanadu" from a name to a generalized term for an idyllic place. The Xanadu in the poem was inspired by Shang-tu, the summer residence of Mongolian general and statesman Kublai Khan (grandson of Genghis Khan). You might also recognize "Xanadu" as the name of the fantastic estate in Orson Welles's 1941 film Citizen Kane.

If the lean starts to be brand the obvious choice is BrandDojo com (not mine) or NameDojo (not mine) or DNDojo. Branding is unnecessarily long. If the dojo is being dropped we might as well start all over. 😂

Also even though its not a name I voted for, Dojotopia fits Robs description of a utopian domainer community in his earlier post.

Is it fair to say that I don't see even a single quality brand/domain in the list?

Collab.org is the only high caliber name on that list but I don’t think it fits this project.

Have -club and -camp already been discussed?

Regarding the target audience
  • Epik staff meetings
  • Epik customers´ loyalty bonus :xf.grin:
  • domainer workgroups
  • events for/by domaining organizations
these words won´t be a bad choice IMO.

Dojo may be hip and short, yes it is great, but the longer I read in this thread the more often I see JohnDoe, DoYou, DoJi or DIY.

Think I got a winner this time!

CasaDojo.com

Casa+Keyword brings up images of resort properties, holiday homes, boutique hotels and such in beautiful places like Las Palmas, Ubud, Seychelles, Mauritius, Gozo, etc. :xf.wink:

While Dojo implies Co-working\Co-living Lifestyle!

Also works with the crusie: The cruise can itself be a CasaDojo or you can go CasaDojo cruising (i.e. cruising from one CasaDojo to another)

In short, CasaDojo:
  • Flows well together
  • is Short and Brandable
  • Kind of ties together the requirements beautifully
  • Is not restricted to domaining
  • Has wide appeal with two well-known words
The only drawback that I could perceive is that its not tied to domaining exclusively. But this could be both good and bad. And considering the poll list which has 70%+ names that are not tied to domaining including top 2 leaders (Collab and DojoVille), I thought this might not be a deal-breaker.

Cheers,
Crypto!

Casa means house in Spanish right? I like things that you can easily brand. I have O / C / A/ S / U which is based on CASA :)
