I think Epik is building the best ever Domain Lander in the history of domaining, and it really needs to be talked about extensively. That's why I am creating this discussion thread. A lot of thought process really goes into the project. And I can see (for the first time) a landing page that is built from the stand point of domainers rather than for just the marketplace itself.

Everything you have ever dreamt of getting or seeing in a professional landing page can be found in the new Epik marketplace landing page design.

Some of my Favorites Features:

1. The ability to optimize your "domain for sale" landing page to actually rank on Google, displaying your sales pitch/domain description. I just did that with few of my generic domain names such as ASAP.TV, targeting certain keywords, and they are showing pretty well on Google. That's a huge plus in my marketing effort.

2. Being able to change background image is another huge one for me. If you are good with pictures and images, you will surely find this very useful. I did that with Nagasaki.org and the result was truly amazing, showing the city of Nagasaki right at the background.

There are too many positive features and I don't want to mention all of them, all alone :xf.grin::xf.grin:

So I am leaving you guys to share and discuss what you loves most or dislike about the new Epik marketplace and the landing pages.

The only negative for me is the checkout process. There are too many terms and conditions buttons to tick before checking out. It will be nice if they can streamline those into one beautiful big button :xf.cool:

They also need to place the checkout button directly under the payment options. Right now it is awkwardly place somewhere below at the sidebar, which I don't find cool at all.

Sales experience is also welcomed in this discussion. I haven't had any sells so far at Epik because I started using the marketplace just recently, but the future is looking so bright.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Yup, that would be great.
I keep on saying that we actually need a proper, unbiased auction platform in this little niche of ours.
Flippa is pretty much dead, Sedo is a joke with their listing fees, Namejet went down the drain, GD auctions is meh, Bido died years back...

I'm 100% sure that if anyone would build a proper auction marketplace, would score big in the future.

Hint, hint @Rob Monster :)

Yes, I do think it is needed. We'll either acquire one or build one, but this is not hard. The technology is not the hard part.

Rob's right .. I've had a few discussions with people wanted to start auction platforms, and while the technical side isn't all that easy, Rob's right, as the real challenge is getting both a critical mass of both buyers and of quality inventory ... if you don't have both, then it's going to flop like the several attempts over the last few years.

That being said .. the technical side of the platforms most certainly could be improved .. there are certainly improvements that could be made compared to the current offerings.

So true. Must have the critical mass of buyers/sellers.
You're right about the current offerings. It amazes me how lousy some of them are from the technical stand-point - and that then affects the user experience significantly. Yet they are still in business. I guess it demonstrates that the first-mover advantage is very real.

Thanks. Epik landers look great, the only problem is that right now they are taking much more time to load than they should.

We are adding both CDN and anti-DDoS capacity this week in more parts of the world. You can track our progress here:

http://ping.pe/laptopcomputers.com

The places that still show red are loading but they load too slowly. So, yes, we are aware. We have the A-team on it and should be back to all green again shortly.

The load times should get to under 40 ms in most of the world before year-end. In some places it is already under 25 ms.

One of our projects, called Toki, is particularly interesting for extending the CDN to the far edges of the net.

I have redirected some of my external domains to epik marketplace by changing namseservers for offers.
Just wanted to know in case of a sale, is it compulsory for the buyer to transfer the domain to Epik? what if buyer wanted to transfer the domain to some other registrar but will pay the domain price at epik?

We don't have an auction platform yet other than what we do for expiring domains here : https://marketplace.epik.com/daily-diamonds (The price is lowered every hour until it reaches 9$ + renewal)
But, you can add your names to the epik marketplace and set a low bin, there are more and more people going through the list to find deals ;)

Nice innovation.

Is this done automatically or I will be the one to do it myself? If to be done myself, how do I go about it?.. Thanks.

I'm not sure I understood..
Do you mean, how to list names in the standard marketplaces ?
The daily diamonds was only designed for expiring domains located at Epik
Daily diamonds prices are updated automatically, for marketplaces names, it will be manual. (But you can update many names at once)

We also offer an escrow service for this scenario.
You can initiate an escrow transaction from here : https://www.epik.com/services/escrow/
Technically, we can adapt to most situations, just precise it when you start or during the transaction

Thanks,

So I've worked my ass off to individually setup each domain on the "Domain Transform and Kws" uppercasing whatever needed to be uppercased and now all domains reverted to all letters lowercase just because you guys changed that section.

Good job guys, just wasted a couple of my hours!

Not sure what happened here, I will check with the team.
Also, regarding uppercases, we will have an update to make all names Uppercase directly.
I will let you know when I have more informations.

Edit : Resolved, The delay seen was due to the CDN cache. When updating landers, there is sometimes a slight delay.

Thanks,
Gube

A bit strange. That figure in the control panel that symbolizes privacy is usually blue. But recently some of my domains using privacy have a green figure. @Gube do you know why?

When I tested one of my domains for Epik landing page I sent myself a message through the contact form and received it immediately. But I just checked again and for some reason I am unable to receive any offers or messages through any of my landing pages.. I have told Epik support team about it, hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Finally after many tries I received my own offer and message on one domain in the junk folder, which is not a big problem because I check my junk folder daily.. but the problem is the delay in the 1 offer i received and the 20 other offers i didn't, even though the landing page showed me a message that my offer was sent to the owner .. this is a big issue.. please look into this.. will hopefully sell a domain for $5500 via epik escrow soon

A ton of offers -- presumably your test offers -- did arrive today. System is working normally. We are considering to also add the option of an SMS alert when an offer arrives. Helpful?

In case not aware, a full CRM, ncluding legacy migration tools from non-Epik CRM is on deck for completion before year-end. The escrow dashboard is a bit before that -- currently in QA for pre-release testing.

Sms is not required only email is enough .. but for some reason i have only received 2 offers on one of my domain in my email.. the rest are not there, even the epik support team made an offer but i didn't receive any email for it.. i m receiving emails from other sites without problem.

@vitigo in engineering is checking your mail delivery log, but we can see a vast number were sent to your hotmail.com and live.com inboxes.

Engineering will comment but check spam and whitelist as needed

@Haris

Long story short. Hotmail sucks. I would not rely on them to deliver you offers. See here:

We'll work on that whitelisting with Hotmail from our SMTP provider, but if you think Hotmail is delivering you all your email, we know for sure they do not.

If you want a reliable email host, check out this one:

https://www.epik.com/hosting/email/

Bigger question is really why any domainer in his right mind would be branding Hotmail.com and Live.com rather than developing his own brand and setting their own policy on spam filtering?

Ok, now that I've been with Epik for around 1 year, I've got some domains coming up for renewal.

Clicked on a domain that expired yesterday, and I get this:

No 1-year renewal option is available to me now; I'm only given the choice to renew for 2 or more years.

That's how it's gonna be then, huh? Don't think I've seen that before from any registrar I use.

Noted...

You can contact support and they can manually enter 1 year for you!

@Ategy.com got it right.

Just PM us and we'll fix that. NP members get 1 year grace renewals. That system exists to discourage folks from abusing grace period but just say hi and we'll take care of it. You are probably missing out on some other NamePros features.

I have been using hotmail for a long time and created my registrar accounts using my hotmail address so now I can't stop using it, will have to do a lot of work to change this. I have not faced this problem before though, I was receiving emails from many other sites that day but only the epik emails, not only landing page offers but other emails about domain setting update were also received hours after they should've.

FYI, I am not branding my business using hotmail or live emails, I use GSuite custom email for negotiations and marketing, the hotmail address is only for account logins..

Quick update on SSL landers.

So, we are growing these pretty quickly. In the last 24 hours, we added about 20,000 new .COM domains to the SSL lander platform. This created a tiny challenge because our SSL provisioning capacity was 8,000 per day. So, what did we do:

1. The landers will initially provision as non-SSL. That is instant and still works very well on our CDN and still has DDoS protection.

2. The SSL is provisioned in the background, and will be enabled once the SSL is installed.

3. We will finish a major equipment upgrade that should increase daily SSL provisioning to at least 30,000 and can scale up as needed.

4. We are pursuing a deal for DNEncrypt.com to be able to stand up unlimited DV certificates in our own name from a reputable Certificate Root Authority. This will likely be step 1 for DNEncrypt.com.

Thanks for using those SSL landers -- I know they are making a big impact for a lot of folks,.

Thanks for that. A ridiculous number of improvements are coming. So, keep those ideas coming and we'll do our best to equip folks with great tools. If it can be free, it will be free. Just pay it forward.
