Rebranding is a marketing strategy in which a new name, term, symbol, design, concept or combination thereof is created for an established brand with the intention of developing a new, differentiated identity in the minds of consumers, investors, competitors, and other stakeholders.
Let me start off by saying that approximately 10% of the approximate 12M English speaking businesses in the world rebrand each year. My prior business experience having started and NAMED 20 businesses in my lifetime confirms that statistic. One of the businesses I started was a medical billing business started in 1978 was Accounts Receivable Management Corp, and wow was that a mouthful. With the help of a new partner, and an Advertising Agency we rebranded to become AcSel in 1982, and the company is still Acsel today. Then there was another business started in 1985 called National Lawyers Locate Service that rebranded to Inquisitor Investigations in 1990 and it stayed Inquisitor until 2012 when it shuttered it's doors.
Now for those of my critics who don't believe a word I say, simply go to my Linkedin bio and you will see the rebranded names that I referred to in the previous paragraph.
Moving on, to add a little more to my credibility, I just so happen to be involved in the rebranding of what is now referred to as Hampton Roads in Southeast Virginia to any one of a half dozen new names of which I'm pretty partial to two that I won't get into here.
My point is with 1.2M businesses rebranding each year, the market is HUGE! And when you combine that with businesses who give thought to rebranding but never do, the market is even HUGER
Consequently, while I can't be sure that I'll be able to stir up lots of interest in the domain/name industry by talking/marketing "Rebranding" to the masses, I do believe an opportunity exists to do just that....if only I had a domain/name for it? As of this very moment I'm thinking if RebrandPros like NamePros were available, it would make the perfect name. I'll check and see and let you know, because I feel a duty to revolutionize the domain industry by way of the brand industry. Most thoughts, comments and questions are welcome.
