I think Epik is building the best ever Domain Lander in the history of domaining, and it really needs to be talked about extensively. That's why I am creating this discussion thread. A lot of thought process really goes into the project. And I can see (for the first time) a landing page that is built from the stand point of domainers rather than for just the marketplace itself.

Everything you have ever dreamt of getting or seeing in a professional landing page can be found in the new Epik marketplace landing page design.

Some of my Favorites Features:

1. The ability to optimize your "domain for sale" landing page to actually rank on Google, displaying your sales pitch/domain description. I just did that with few of my generic domain names such as ASAP.TV, targeting certain keywords, and they are showing pretty well on Google. That's a huge plus in my marketing effort.

2. Being able to change background image is another huge one for me. If you are good with pictures and images, you will surely find this very useful. I did that with Nagasaki.org and the result was truly amazing, showing the city of Nagasaki right at the background.

There are too many positive features and I don't want to mention all of them, all alone :xf.grin::xf.grin:

So I am leaving you guys to share and discuss what you loves most or dislike about the new Epik marketplace and the landing pages.

The only negative for me is the checkout process. There are too many terms and conditions buttons to tick before checking out. It will be nice if they can streamline those into one beautiful big button :xf.cool:

They also need to place the checkout button directly under the payment options. Right now it is awkwardly place somewhere below at the sidebar, which I don't find cool at all.

Sales experience is also welcomed in this discussion. I haven't had any sells so far at Epik because I started using the marketplace just recently, but the future is looking so bright.

Hello I don't know if it answered yet ,

Can you guys please let me know, if I bring my own lead how much do they charge at Epik?

Dan currently charge 5%.

If you bring your own lead, then you clear through escrow, which is as little as free, depending on the payment method:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/if...escrow-you-are-wasting-time-and-money.1119508

With Epik we show you the buyer's details. You have the option of just accepting the offer which is 9%, super convenient, and appreciated.

However, since we do give you the contact details, you can also engage your buyer and then clear through Epik escrow, particularly if it is a larger transaction.

More here:

In Domain Profiles, we make it possible to set MLS features by default. Possible markets include:

- Afternic
Just to share more experience:

Moving Afternic listed domains to another registrar leads to automated Afternic delisting, see some discussion before.
However, these names are not completely deleted from Afternic. I wrote a quick E-Mail to Afternic now regarding the relisting of names after registrar change which was answered within shortest time
Opt-in to the Afternic Premium Network with Your Registrar - In order to get the domains live on the Premium Network: 1) we need to confirm your domain ownership and 2) you need to accept the Premium Network terms and conditions so that your domains are opted-in to the Premium Network. You will be contacted shortly through email to complete the opt-in process.
and in the same minute I received one EPIK E-Mail for the whole ton of requested Afternic listings there with an embedded link for approval to put up those names for sale on Afternic.
I clicked the link and all these domains have been relisted at once with Afternic. The whole process was extremely easy and fast. My recent screaming about this was not worth it as my fear to repeat the whole time-consuming listing process from the beginning was causeless.

These are the criteria for domains to be eligible for fast transfer from the Afternic E-Mail, well-known by most readers, just as I am over it:
• .com, .net, .biz, .org, .pw and .info TLDs only
• Listed domains must have a Buy Now price
• Buy Now price must be below $50,000
• Registered for 60 days or longer with the current registrar
• Registration must not be within 30 days of expiration
• Registered with a Premium Network Partner
• No transfer holds at the registrar

Thanks @Blitzpotz.

As you know we are working to make the MLS process very efficient so that domain investors can easily manage their MLS listings from one convenient and fast interface. It is nearly done.

As you also know, we advise to use our SSL landers as they work very well but to price with Make Offer. MLS can still have prices but for inbounds, Make offer lets you price strategically.

And last but least, for domains that are powered by Epik, we are absolutely available to help close deals and believe this truly sets us apart.

Great to hear that, Rob. I believe in the advantage of a Multi Marketplace Solution. I am sure there are buyers who only buy on Afternic or on Uniregistry or on Dan or on Sedo or on Epik, be it trust, be it unwillingness to open accounts with several marketplaces or whatever motivation could lead buyers to a favorite platform.
Will the MLS listing management be also possible for external domains which are listed with Epik but are neither registered nor parked with Epik? I´m sure there is an answer in this thread but ... well.

Do you recommend a minimum offer level and if yes, how much? Let´s assume an average quality 2-word .com.

Does powered by Epik mean: registered with Epik?

Are there others that have MLS APIs that folks have found effective?
Some like parking with ParkingCrew. They do not provide an own marketplace but a selection to receive inquiries by E-Mail and/or to put a For-Sale link to the parking page that directs either to Sedo or to Afternic. A third option to direct this link to one´s Epik marketplace listing couldn´t be wrong.

I would set a minimum offer of $100 for anything that is not liquidation inventory. It filters out the most egregious tire-kickers.

"Powered by Epik" does not always mean registered at Epik. If it is "An Epik service", you can bet that the domain is also at Epik.

As for integrating with parking services, yes, we do that. We don'y have any formal tie-ups with any parking provider but have been exploring that, e.g. making it easy to park and sell or get paid in daily Epik credit.

So today I tried for my first backorder at Epik (I'm usually an aftermarket guy) .. unfortunately it didn't get caught .. but just wanted to share a bit of feedback.

Earlier today after it was picked up by someone else, I still had the checkbox to give me the option to cancel (a good thing). Then I was going now to cancel, but the domain was there with no checkbox. Which didn't seem good at first, until I checked my balance and saw it was automatically cancelled already and my account credited (really good in my opinion).

I wasn't expecting that because a while back when I used GoDaddy, they don't cancel, and keep it there in perpetuity until you manually cancel (assuming you will still want the domain next year, or in between in the very rare chance the domain gets deleted). They also send you an email on all who whois/server info changes.

That being said .. I personally prefer the automatic cancel the way you have it at Epik, I have no interest in having my funds frozen another year when it could be put towards other domains.

But just wanted to say that after the checkmark disappears, you might want to attach a note in the box saying that back order has been auto-cancelled and that the money has been credited to your account. Now I know for next time, but some people might find it a bit frustrating and not assume it was done automatically.

(lol .. all that being said .. I just saw the notice sent to my email, but I'm thinking you'd want it on the site too for those who get a million emails a day)

Even more importantly .. within the "Backorders" tab .. there's actually no way to make new backorder! Even from the master backorder menu on the top of the page, when you click "backorder", it's just your current backorders, with no info on what it is, how to do it, and most importantly no box to enter a new backorder!

Effectively doing a search for a backorder is the same searchbox as a handreg searching (it's just the resulting options that are different if the domain is taken), but a buy new domain searchbox should be there. If the domain is available then great .. they can buy it right away .. but if not (they probably already knew that when they clicked "Backorder" from the menu, then they'll be given the chance to place a backorder.

Seems there was a similar issue with "Transfers status" page, in that there was no box making it as easy and inviting as possible for people to transfer more domains in.

Not the end of the world for me at all now that I know .. but definitely something to consider for usability and to remove confusion as well as increase potential backorders! :)

ADDED: Actually .. you might even want to give people the option .. one time attempt at drop with auto-cancel .. or perpetual. Some people might prefer keeping it at the ready .. and the bonus (for you) is that Epik holds the funds indefinitely! ;)

Is anyone else experiencing issue with marketplace.epik.com or specific landers loading? They were fine a few hours ago but not loading for me now from western Canada.

It was actually a brief but large DDoS attack. Our NetOps were on it and it has since been mitigated.

Hey @Rob Monster FYI, you seem to have an issue with your Domain availability checker. I checked a list of 85 .shop domains last night and Epik told me 8 were available (all others needed backorder). A couple of other registrars told me 58 were available. Similar results with other lists I checked.

Then today, out of interest, I checked the first list of 85 again and Epik told me 18 were available.

Out of several lists I checked I decided to register 33 on a super cheap deal elsewhere. All reg'd OK. Yet Epik was still telling me that only a fraction of those names was available. Whether it's an issue with othre extensions or just with .shop, I couldn't say as I haven't checked any others. You might want to check on that.

We dropped our .SHOP accreditation and are reselling that TLD. We may restore it in 2020.

So is that why availability checks for that TLD are just plain wrong?...

Yes, SMS 2FA should work everywhere now -- even in countries where it is expensive to send SMS.

Has anyone else noticed that Epik landers for which they had uploaded images, rather than selecting from the standard Epik supplied ones, now don't show them anymore? They have been replaced with an abstract dark Epik image, or at least in my cases.

Perhaps I missed the announcement, and I can understand there may be technical reasons (too much load on system) or other (concern with images that may not be properly used) reasons to take away the option, but just thought I would ask.

If it is the case that one will only be able to use the Epik ones could I request that a few more abstract ones be added - say something like a light textured pattern. Most of the existing ones involve people and are not well suited to all domain names.

Thanks,

Bob

The engineers are working on that issue this hour. Rest assured the custom image service is not going away. Apologies for any inconvenience.
