I've been spending a little time reviewing the brand Catchy.com who advertises here on NamePros. They're headquartered in France and seem to have a good presentation. They say in their add; "catchy domains for lease"

First off, what's a "catchy domain"? Hell if I know, but I know one when I see one. "Catchy" domains require a sense of humor, something that seems to be lacking in the world today:xf.frown:

I believe I have a few "catchy" domains, two of which I reg'd in the last 48 hours, and neither of which have been registered before.

The first one I registered is; LakeCatchy(.)com. If you don't see the humor here I'm really sorry, but "Lake Catchy" has got to be the best name of any fishing hole in the world.

Moving on, while meeting with some friends earlier, I thought of a flea market as I rounded a corner headed for home. So what should POP into my pea brain, but CornerFlea.com. I don't know if you have flea markets where you are, but could you imagine a national chain of "Corner Flea" markets selling things from all over the world? Can anyone even begin to imagine how that might be accomplished? They could even sell fresh fish from Lake Catchy that are shipped overnight to a corner near you:xf.grin:

Do you have any "Catchy" domains? Share them with us and the story behind them. Thanks(y)

I like it Jonathan...just need to find a way to display it on an orange...it's really pretty "catchy"(y) I just reg'd the domain AttitudeSells.com because when the rubber meets the road we need to be able to sell these "catchy" domains. And just maybe, I just partnered with someone who might be able to help. Thanks!

EnquireMe.com conjures curiosity? I like it, but what to do with it?

I'd forgotten about another "catchy" name I reg'd about six months ago: DowntheCatch.com. That along with JumboLumpDaddy.com deserves to be peddled to anyone in the Seafood Restaurant business.

While keying/typing this I became distracted and just bought the 20 Letter domain;

CatchyRestaurantNames.com

This name is not meant for resale, but rather to develop for the MILLION Plus restaurants in the US alone that employs 15.3 Million people, and that's projected to generate over 863 Billion Dollars in Revs in 2019.

manpreet...sorry if I got carried away and overshadowed; EnquireMe.com. Thanks for sharing:xf.smile:

I owned EnquireMe.com and InquireMe.com way back in 2012 I think. I dropped them both. I could never get hands on Inquire.Me though. I dropped around 7000 valuable domains (according to me) between 2008 and 2013. Registering is fun, renewals are a disaster if without sales.

a CBDTOYSTORE.com....it's available for $8.50 and appraises for $933. Now there's a way to monetize your idea. Good Luck!

Thanks for sharing......and you're right, "Registering is fun"...do you know Clint Eastwood of Dirty Harry fame? Well, the famous line in that movie is; Go Ahead, "Make My Day". Creating from that I reg'd MakeMy24.com and get this, I just an hour ago hand reg'd MakeMyShave.com and I'll leave it up to you to see how Eastwood, and or names like Gillette, Schick or any of the new subscription razor companies might fit in. I've already contacted a high end broker to privately sell my name, and I agreed to pay him/her a 25% commission. Only God knows how much that name may be worth:xf.wink:

Thanks again for sharing your story.

Thanks manpreet...I'm aleady off and running to the Dollar Shave Club, Harrys, and Billie (ladies razors) to stir up some interest. All I need now is 89 year old Clint Eastwood to agree to shave his beard for the guys or his legs for the girls.

I chedked out MakeMyTrip.com in India and it looks great. Thanks again.

Jay...thanks for participating in this thread. I just reg'd BowTeak.com that might make for a "catchy" name for a boutique gift shop or specialty store. The landing page could feature the domain on a logo bow tie. I'd do it myself, but I don't have the time or the expertise. I noticed someone else had reg'd the name 10 of the last 12 years and just canceled it 12 months ago 11/18. Old time domainers here will say they dropped it because it was a crappy name, but I know better.

Lets put our heads together to see if we can locate a niche broker who can help us sell our domains to end users. We might have to pay a higher commission, but 75% of something is a whole lot better 100% of nothing:xf.wink: Make sense?

Along those lines, I just had a young lady from Singapore reach out to me via NP. She said she just completed a domain course (not sure who's it was) and said she'd like to be my boutique broker. I'm hoping I'll find a diamond in the rough, and I know there's one out there somewhere. Thanks again.

Oh, while this isn't necessarily a "catchy" domain, I did pick up DomainSavant.com earlier today.

OrgasmicFuture.com (like "orgastic future" in The Great Gatsby) - I've just put it on sale here at NamePros. A great name for an adult toy company or affiliate website (love dolls, pleasure machines, etc). Go check it out! [Link]

LashBrowPow (dot) com was a brand name I created some years back. Inspired by the big-booming eyebrows/eyelashes esthetics industry. It's catchy to me but I'd love to know if I'm the only one who thinks this, so your thoughts are welcome!

I think some of the catchy domain names submitted in this thread are more catchy than others! :xf.grin: I admit there are a number I don't get.

I am a big fan of catchy, and there are no doubts that campaigns could work well with catchy domain names, but I think it is important that we all realize that we probably see our own creations as more catchy than others see them. This is one place that it probably makes sense to have some kind of an informal focus group of friends look at your domain name. If all 10 say "huh?", then probably not good.

No doubt what is catchy is both age specific and regional specific as well.

I suspect the probability of sale for creative catchy names is lower than for domains overall, which is already of course very low. This is fine as long as you go into it with that expectation and still think the numbers can realistically work for you. There is no doubt that the NameBio reports carry not a trivial number of multi-word phrases meant to be catchy.

Anyway, thanks for the thread @ThatNameGuy and all the replies everyone!

Bob

We are new to the business, so no 3L, no 4L, and no one-worder.
  • www dot smashfolio dot com (probably an intern, working name as it is limiting)
  • back thrust dot com
  • fore thrust dot com
All three domains are newly registered today, so we can’t sell anything yet.

We would be specializing in discovering unfound treasure. We have found some more that we would register later. Right now the focus would be putting some content on Smashfolio for SEO.

If you want to list your domains on the site, and you have reputable business, we are willing to consider. We won’t ask for listing fee or commission.

I'm keeping this domain name in case some day I decide that I simply have no future in domain names and it is time to let myself go! :xf.grin:
