Good morning,

@DnFolk we currently do not provide it as we have found that all interested buyers would reply eventually. In addition, we also keep following up on your leads in order to activate them when a negotiation is stalled.

@frank-germany it seems you are absolutely right. I have notified our product team and will have this resolved for all languages. Thank you for notifying us!

Have a great day.

No additional payments are made for a better ranking. Even though we have received many inquiries to do this we believe all sellers at DAN.COM should receive the maximum amount of exposure and we aim to realize that.

It is really world class commitment for DAN seller.. Congrats...

Something about "Automated Ownership Verification" with DAN.
instructions says: "Add the following nameserver listed below as the third nameservers to complement our standard nameservers for parking."
I was trying to add the nameserver listed under my DAN account to Namesilo as a third nameserver and received an error: All NameServer entries must be unqiue. You have used NS1.DAN.COM multiple times.
Obviuosly first and third nameservers are not unique since they both contain ns1.dan.com
@Reza, any suggestions ?

You only need two nameservers. If your registrar panel has fields for more (typically there are four), you should be able to skip them and save with only two.

I would like to see this feature:

when I'm setting a prize for a .de domain
( aka targeting the European market )
I need a visually appealing prize point in Euro
like 4,800 €
( and not showing 4,384.05 Euro to a german visitor when defined 4888 in USD)

when I'm setting a prize for a .com domain
( aka targeting an international market )
I need a visually appealing prize point in USD
like $4.888 USD
( and not showing $5.449,78 USD for US visitors when defined in 4888 Euro)

so I need to define the default currency
on a per-domain basis

Regarding the number and quality of reported sales on the DAN platform in this forum I finally opened an account with them about two weeks ago.

My first impression: it is so easy and smooth.

As a bloody beginner with DAN I have a few questions to experienced DAN users:
  • I did not yet setup BIN prices but an ambitious minimum offer level.
    • Would you say that BIN is better for selling or doesn´t it make a difference in the end?
  • Simple but exciting are the monthly views. It feels like my own soccer league table.
    • Would you say that the higher the number of monthly views the more probable is a sale?
    • Are those numbers reliable at all?
Thanks in forward for any feed-back.

nearly all my sales have near to no traffic

Have you been more successful placing BIN prices or make-offer?

And did it make a difference to point Nameservers to DAN or not? Afternic e.g. works well without direct traffic leads IMO.

redirect to dan

Yes, in my experience. Because when I check, they give the same figures I get from having Google Analytics installed on Dan.com.

If you look at the source code of a landing page there, it has two Google Analytics IDs, one that you put there and one that, presumably, Dan puts there so presumably Dan's stats come from GA too.

It's easy to just paste in the Google Analytics ID for your whole Dan.com account in your Dan control panel, info on using GA stats is in the old Undeveloped.com thread. Then you can isolate traffic on a particular day, see locations of traffic sources etc.

Thanks guys for answering "old questions" but good answers cannot be given often enough and I am sure that there is a DAN newbie daily not willing to dive into deep sea threads from the start.

@carob I will check this out.
I didn´t touch Google Analytics for years after discussions here in Germany if it is compatible with data protection rules and reports about cease-and-desist warnings. With DAN sitting in the EU member state Netherlands they should have found a legitimate solution consistent with GDPR.

redirect to dan
from my own nameservers
So you have three sources leading buyers to your DAN marketplace @frank-germany : your domain portfolio site with redirects, direct traffic on the domain name and DAN internal search. Nothing new and your daily bread but important bringing this multiple source to mind again. There are several threads about the pros and cons of one´s additional own marketplace website. This "add-on benefit" creating and leading traffic is nice. Do you have an idea which percentage of sales have been initiated by your portfolio site with forwards?

The important things is GA should not save full IP addresses - there is a setting to tell it to do that, not sure if Dan has done that, you just have to omit the last 2 digits in the IP address to comply. And your consent message to users has to make clear you collect analytics data.. And GA's own rules forbid you from collecting data about specific users, so if you had urls that contained usernames and captured those that would be a violation of GA ToS and would mean getting banned by GA. So GA can be ok under GDPR.

I do not think that my own marketplace has any influence on end-user sales
that is more used by domainers ending in low ball offers

I created it more or less for my own use
because I couldn't find the search and sort functions I needed
on the existing platforms

I am using a redirect
https://dan.com/buy-domain/[domain name]

when I decide to give sedo a try
I simply change it to

https://sedo.com/search/details/?domain=";
$redirectUrl .=$domain;
$redirectUrl .="&origin=sales_lander&utm_medium=Parking&utm_campaign=offerpage";

when I decide to use my own landers
its simple as changing the redirect link

when I decide to promote my shop
( as @MapleDots suggested )
just change link

no need to change nameservers

After multiple non-paying buyers and a massive reduction in inquiries I moved my more than 2000 names away from dan.

Made my first sale on Dan and I'm certainly impressed with how seamless it was. The payment was so fast.
No other platform is on pace with them. Keep it up guys!!

Good morning all,

@frank-germany I understand the reasoning behind it. Some large portfolio holders that want to do the same thing actually create a second account in order to do this for the time being.

@Blitzpotz great to have you onboard! In answering the questions:
1. Currently the best converting setup is one with:
- a buy now price
- a option to make an offer with the minimum starting offer kept at an absolute lowest
- the option to purchase domains in instalments
2. The numbers from our GA are reliable. Of course, new bots appear on a daily basis but we target them promptly in order to keep the data as clean as possible. We actually do see that the higher the traffic, the more likely a sell is going to get through.

@Rory Ivey great to hear this. Congratulations on your first sale! Looking forward to help you obtain the second sale through us.

Have a great week!

Can I just ask how many of you guys are actually making regular sales at Dan? Have you noticed an increase in sales since moving your domains to Dan?

Also are you guys finding that End users are actually searching and buying your names at Dan? or do end users still stick to afternic etc?

Are high 5 to 6 figure sales possible at Dan or at the moment is it a place for fellow domainers that are low balling offers?

Thanks

Yes, very low. What was weird was the last sale I almost had on DaN ended up being completed on Sedo. The buyer "didn't like" the DaN interface for some reason. I couldnt get more info because the sale closed.

A couple things that bug me:

1) on the lander there are some tiny graphics with the euro symbol, even though we use USD. Not sure if this might confuse buyers they will pay in Euros.

2) on a BIN with make offer, the make offer option is too small and at the bottom. In other places like Sedo and Afternic both the BIN and Make Offer options are bold, so its clear you have a choice. I worry that some people see a name with the BIN option, but dont notice below the make offer.
