I think Epik is building the best ever Domain Lander in the history of domaining, and it really needs to be talked about extensively. That's why I am creating this discussion thread. A lot of thought process really goes into the project. And I can see (for the first time) a landing page that is built from the stand point of domainers rather than for just the marketplace itself.

Everything you have ever dreamt of getting or seeing in a professional landing page can be found in the new Epik marketplace landing page design.

Some of my Favorites Features:

1. The ability to optimize your "domain for sale" landing page to actually rank on Google, displaying your sales pitch/domain description. I just did that with few of my generic domain names such as ASAP.TV, targeting certain keywords, and they are showing pretty well on Google. That's a huge plus in my marketing effort.

2. Being able to change background image is another huge one for me. If you are good with pictures and images, you will surely find this very useful. I did that with Nagasaki.org and the result was truly amazing, showing the city of Nagasaki right at the background.

There are too many positive features and I don't want to mention all of them, all alone :xf.grin::xf.grin:

So I am leaving you guys to share and discuss what you loves most or dislike about the new Epik marketplace and the landing pages.

The only negative for me is the checkout process. There are too many terms and conditions buttons to tick before checking out. It will be nice if they can streamline those into one beautiful big button :xf.cool:

They also need to place the checkout button directly under the payment options. Right now it is awkwardly place somewhere below at the sidebar, which I don't find cool at all.

Sales experience is also welcomed in this discussion. I haven't had any sells so far at Epik because I started using the marketplace just recently, but the future is looking so bright.

Thanks guys -- we'll take a look. Bug bounties likely on the way.
Thx. What's the time-out meant to be on the site? I.e. if I close the browser instead of clicking logout, when should my session time-out?
I'm testing it now, but I have a feeling maybe the 2FA doesn't work unless you manually click Logout. Usually I just close the browser since I'm the only person here.

I believe quite long but will need engineering to review. We used to have shorter sessions but then people who were compiling lists into a shopping cart were annoyed if they went to checkout and had to login again, especially during the drop. So, we extended the session length. However, when you explicitly logout, the sessions end, and a full 2FA login should be required to resume. Engineering will audit this area. FYI, we recently had an ethical hacking group completely audit the sites and should be quite solid against all known hacks.

Thanks. I'm all for long time-outs to be honest. ;) Hate a site timing out when I get distracted with something else for 10min...

Will options ever be added to the filter:
  • without numbers
  • without hyphens
  • without IDN

In some large lists, for example in premium-gtld, bargain etc these options are very necessary.

You should've had unethical hackers try...
You do have a security risk which I discovered accidentally trying to login after being logged out multiple times.

I'll keep that off this open thread and PM you shortly.

Every domain I move from Godaddy to Epik gets instantly delisted at Afternic. This hurts because Afternic is very effective. Could I avoid a delisting as Epik seems to fulfil Afternic Fast Transfer requirements? What do I have to do?

This is not a problem, when you push or transfer any afternic premium listed domain within or from any registrar the domain get automatically delisted from afternic or fast transfer there is disabled. after any transfer or push you will have list it again, i know its frustrating but thats how it is.

We can't reproduce it but @vitigo is going to PM with you to get to the bottom of it. Thanks! I will also authorize him to hand out bug bounties!

Hi Rob. I left it over 12 hours, opened a new browser window and logged on. This time the SMS 2FA did work. That' not what I've had previously, so perhaps you guys found something to fix? In any case I'll keep an eye on it and let you know if this changes. Cheers.

It is extremely time-consuming to relist domains, not only the process itself but the administration and setting of names to be relisted. Furthermore it is dangerous to relist. A while ago my whole inventory was deleted when I tried to list additional names with their required Excel sheet. It took weeks to restore the old condition. I don´t dare to relist names with Afternic to avoid another experience like that.

So for me it is a problem. And it would be a customer-friendly innovation to avoid Afternic delisting when transfering names to other registrars which meet their demands.

Of course its a problem that way not just for you, for everyone, for all of us sellers at afternic but above i meant its not specific epik or gd problem, it happens with all registrars and you have to understand the system why it happens - premium listing means fast transfer which happens if you give permission to your auth code in advance that is changed if you transfer your domain so its not feasible what you are stating, also it is useful in overall security of domains.

That´s not what I meant, too. I meant to read in the other article there could be an Epik solution and asked.

I continue to ask at least myself how this issue could be simplified in favor of the user. Do they need to delete/delist transfered names or could they be put on hold? If user confirms in his account with the receiving registrar (fulfilling Afternic requirements) then names would be reactivated again. Anything like that.

@Blitzpotz @DnFolk - you raise a good point.

Here is what I think we need from @vitigo and @Ala Dadan.

In Domain Profiles, we make it possible to set MLS features by default. Possible markets include:

- Afternic
- Sedo

Are there others that have MLS APIs that folks have found effective?

Namesilo has been doing some kind of automatic stuff with Afternic recently: I receive emails to confirm some of my fresh registrations with Afternic after they are over 60 days old – earlier I'd have to delist them and then list again manually to have fast transfer activated. Could Epik start doing the same?

I just retried SMS 2FA... no changes, doesn't work to Ukraine.
My mobile number in the following format: +380.93XXXXXXX (12 digits overall)
I also tried to save my number without "." and/or "+" - but your system doesn't allow another format for testing purpose.

We have a case open with Twilio about your number. We have the full number for your mobile in Ukraine. Waiting for a reply there and will revert privately so you can test.

Still can't forward my Domain at Epik. Please I've tried all possible combinations of what to input in the boxes, please I need a clear breakdown. From my attachment, help tag the boxes from left to right as Box1 to Box4 and then tell me what to input via the details I'm providing. I'm forwarding to namerific, and they provided the link( www (dot) namerific (dot) com / MYDOMAIN )

Box 1:What should I input in the subdomain?

Box 2: What type should I choose?

Box 3: What do I input in forwards to?

Box 4: What status do I choose?

For folks not aware, Epik is investigating the option of creating a stand-alone brand for issuing "SSL" certificates. There is now a poll for potential brand name candidates here:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/name-selection-poll-for-root-certificate-brand.1159033

This is a side project that may eventually make it to the formal Epik Labs roster:

https://www.epik.com/about/labs/

DN Protect.com, a domain acquired from @equity78, is another project that is moving along in this category:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/what-are-the-must-have-features-for-dnprotect-com.1156889/

These projects, and others, are in line with two main themes:

1. Digital Empowerment -- helping a much larger segment of the world population to become effective participants on the Internet through content, community and commerce.

2. Making the pie bigger -- equipping domain industry professionals to participate in a new golden age for domains, notably .COM.

Is anybody else having issues registering domains at epik?

I hand registered two .orgs a few hours ago, and they have yet to hit my account.

Email receipt received. Invoice shows as paid.

I contacted chat, but keep getting disconnected on mobile, can't reopen the established chat, nor have I seen a response update via email. It appeared to be outsourced chat as the rep had to contact the tech department, and at this point I doubt I'll hear back from them tonight. If it was a fresh drop, I'd prob register at a different registrar or else risk somebody else acquiring it.

👎 Experience 👎

Thanks for the reassurance.

I'm sure everything will be fine. I'm just grumpy. Grrr.

I noticed instructions in the PayPal receipt to merchant says create domain X for one year. Add in this lapse in time between payment to registration and I'm left wondering if somebody has to manually process the registration rather than it being instantly automated after payment is received. Likely just a glitch in registration? As manual registration after payment seems outlandish.

All good now -- brief EPP issue with .ORG. Sorry for the delay. All queued orders processed. The tech you chatted with is Anand. He is a capable guy and not outsourced. That said, he did need to escalate to engineering, The Epik platform has become pretty vast. In the interest of internal controls, not all staff have access to all system areas, mainly for security reasons.

It won't be manual. I'm sure it's just a little glitch that means it doesn't show immediately in your list. I've no doubt it'll turn up later. I've never really seen it, but to be honest I rarely check straight away. I just apply my default profile to the domain and assume it's all done!...
