I previously invited input for a new brand name for a product/service that protects domain owners from unforeseen risks and provides optional insurance against economic loss. The concept was introduced here.

After a few days of reviewing domain submissions, we now have a screened list of prospects for this project and are looking for some input on name selection before making a final decision.

It is both -- assess and insure. The assessment feature will be free like a domain appraisal (see appraise.epik.com), ...

Epik Appraisal engine Value: Epik.com: $4.100.00
Godaddy Appraisal engine Value: Epik.com: $21k
etc

The point is;

1. You have to implement the Branding process / metrics, at least common values/checklist
2. The frequency of word/s (also called e.g. joint spectrum- the color value)
3. GEO (if Epik.ch + Epik.eu + Epik.de etc value is more than $100k,
than Epik.com is more than $500k)
3a. If Epik.com and .net, .org, .eu, .cn, etc belongs to 1 company than $, otherwise $.
4. Typo / Variations Value (Epiko, Epikle, Epiks.com, net, org, de, eu , etc )
5. Brand protection Value (if .com traffic is more than 1xx.xxx per day, month, year etc , the dn Epik.uk value is more likely over $100k
etc.

Get someone from a good branding agency, with a very high reputation, world wide activity, to sit down with you and brainstorm the details/points. AI is useless if you don’t know how to prepare DB and implement ML. You’ll need at least 2 powerful local / in house servers to play with the data, tweaking points, etc, before going live - in production.

(For branding, name value, when serious job, my xy company checklist contains 146 points and 27 sub points)

Regards

Great point. Can @bhartzer or I connect with you to discuss your model inputs? We might have missed some useful value signals. As for our appraisals on Epik, this is a straight Estibot pass-through but I agree that this too can be substantially upgraded especially for valuing brandable names that Estibot under-appraises almost every time.

Great post ... there are so many dimensions and scoring spectrums when it comes to valuating domains. At this point it's virtually impossible to assess an accurate value of a brandable domain without at least some human interpretation/scoring.

There are so many factors at play (VERY curious about your 146+27 points .. lol), namely phonetics, imagery, grammar, memorability, simplicity, word flow, word populartity, radio test, etc etc .. .plus at the end of the day .. there's also the gut factor ... the artistic factor that's almost impossible to put into an algorithm.

That being said .. there are also most definitely stats, data and metrics that can be used to help assess value .. but that's why I love domains and domaining .. because it's a beautiful coming together of art and science .. and unless it's an exact match domain only being used for SEO value, then you can't only look at the scientifically measurable metrics without also looking at the artistic elements.

Estibot and GD valuations are decent starting points .. but in no way should they ever be used alone when deciding the value of a domain as a brand.

That being said .. I do think that many of the "artistic" attributes not being accounted for today could be translated into an algorithm and as part of the overall scoring .. but it's going to be a huge challenge translating concepts such as phonetics into logic and math and a scoring/point system. It is possible, but it's a monstrous task.

have to talk with my partners about that (leaking checklist) first. If they agree, will contact you via email or call. Regards

The hidden message in the Coca Cola is more complex and contains, sea wave foam hitting the beach - Cala (the original cola chemist birth place- Sardinia, not the after- formula chemist), salute- coco in French, etc :)
The brand name Dreft detergent is a very carefully composed; Two words Deft + Reft = Dreft. The words already exist in your subconscious/ memory, and your conscious brain awareness is attached to enigma, where thinking process is busy to find the encryption key instead of composition- joint spectrum.
