I've been spending a little time reviewing the brand Catchy.com who advertises here on NamePros. They're headquartered in France and seem to have a good presentation. They say in their add; "catchy domains for lease"

First off, what's a "catchy domain"? Hell if I know, but I know one when I see one. "Catchy" domains require a sense of humor, something that seems to be lacking in the world today:xf.frown:

I believe I have a few "catchy" domains, two of which I reg'd in the last 48 hours, and neither of which have been registered before.

The first one I registered is; LakeCatchy(.)com. If you don't see the humor here I'm really sorry, but "Lake Catchy" has got to be the best name of any fishing hole in the world.

Moving on, while meeting with some friends earlier, I thought of a flea market as I rounded a corner headed for home. So what should POP into my pea brain, but CornerFlea.com. I don't know if you have flea markets where you are, but could you imagine a national chain of "Corner Flea" markets selling things from all over the world? Can anyone even begin to imagine how that might be accomplished? They could even sell fresh fish from Lake Catchy that are shipped overnight to a corner near you:xf.grin:

Do you have any "Catchy" domains? Share them with us and the story behind them. Thanks(y)

Hoping @Blitzpotz , @ThatNameGuy and/or other people familiar w German use of internet might offer opinions of my ideas on .work domains unlikely to appeal to Americans, ie: kredit.work, kasino.work, kreditkarte.work

Idea is to build them first, give them a couple of hundred backlinks from some of our other sites that've been functional & high on search engines for 5 to 15 yrs, THEN sell them afterwards. In your opinion, would the increase in value suffice to justify the hours of effort to build & upload them?

Many thanks

Would luv to help/comment, but I parted company with the new gTLD domain market six months ago. I'm pretty good with names, at least that's what I'm told...wink:xf.wink:wink:xf.wink:.

Here's an example of a "catchy" domain I plan to register that was previously reg'd continually from 2000 to 2015, then dropped;

WinkTown:xf.wink:Com

note the "wink" in "pink" .....catchy? I don't know, but i think so:xf.smile:

Here's the real question, lets assume for a moment you just bought this domain and like me you think it's "catchy".How would you go about monetizing it? There seem to be a lot of "catchy" names just gathering dust with no real plan as to how to sell them. It seems if we're creative enough to reg/buy the names, we should be creative enough to sell them for a profit. Any ideas beyond the traditional, list them with the likes of Afternic, Sedo, Uniregistry etc. and hope and pray someone finds them?

Thanks for your nice reply @ThatNameGuy
Yes, I am German. But at first I am Bavarian. Bavarians are like Kobe cattles: self-conscious, beer-fed, tasty. There is a special rebellious and angry humour in our DNA, it can become irony and cynism. Along the Rhine Germans have humour, too. It´s more the simple happy lalala humour to sing and dance and laugh, think of Carnival. All other Germans are working, driving car and traveling to places where they meet each other again.

I must be Jewish of honor with interests like domains, stocks and art. But I do not have Jewish ancestry, not that I knew. There was a time where either the Jewish memory was extinct or ... Well I don´t even dare to continue writing in this humour thread, 75 years after.

Yes, it does. It must be a bad disease.
And thanks for your reply to my reply:xf.wink:.....sooooo much BS:xf.grin: (coming from me). I noticed from your bio you're a young man of 54? I left that station almost 20 years ago, but I feel like a kid playing the domain game. It use to be "sex" would POP into my head:xf.rolleyes: dozens of times a day, now it's domains:xf.frown: A doctor friend of mine from India has written a paper titled, "Laughter is Like a Mini Vacation". Basically he says, when you're laughing nothing hurts, and it's a type of euphoria sort of like an orgasm. He says Nirvana would be laughing during orgasm, but he doesn't know of anyone who has achieved that pinnacle:xf.eek:

Thanks again!

I like identitytheft.id. However, unless you know specifically how to monetize it or develop it, it's of little value:xf.frown:. I mentioned when I first joined NP a couple of years ago, I loved all the new gTLD's because for me, they gave a domain a new dimension and added value....or so I thought. I owned domains like FreePizza.Today and Payday.Loans. "Catchy"....sure, but outside of you, me and domainers, few people understand them. One of the first domains like this I saw, PingPong.gives (a charity/benefit for Ping Pong), I thought, how cool:xf.cool: Now keep in mind I was 70 years old young, and I'd named and ran dozens of businesses in my lifetime and a name like "Payday Loans" would have been a great name if I were to be in that business. I also owned a bunch of .golf domains that I thought were way cool, but when Donuts, the registry that owned the .golf extension reneged on working with me to sell their domains I decided it was time to throw in the towel. The very same thing happened with about a hundred .homes domains that I owned and still own, but when the registry for .homes, Dominion Domains, who are right here in my hometown wouldn't work with me, I lost all respect for this seriously screwed up industry:xf.rolleyes:

Why not A E I O YOU.com?....not sure what A E I O A means?

I know what is it pretty well. That's why i i posted here as 'catchy'. As you know, it represents the vowel listing pattern without U., ie only premium vowels a, e, i and o. Starts and ends with A. Very easy to remember and only 5L. Already received a couple of offers.

Of the two, i like StealthSoldiers. I own StealthLegal and StealthCafe, and a good friend of mine is a veteran (disabled Army Ranger/Sniper) and he's paid to test video gaming sites. I'll ask him about StealthSoldiers and what he thinks of it as a gaming site. Sending you a pm....

Here's my latest "catch"....6ixSticks.com. It sort of goes hand in hand with the brand 9Time™ in that it's a new game involving golf where you can use just "six" sticks/clubs. For anyone who follows golf, there's a company with a very "catchy" name; ShipSticks.com that advertises on TV that it ships golf clubs around the world cheaper, faster and safer than the airlines. They've carved out an interesting niche about 7-8 years ago, and they're hitting it out of the park.

You may want to consider picking up Squeekee.com that's available for reg fee. I just renewed one that I picked up this time last year;

HalfHash.com.....sort of sounds like HalfAss:xf.rolleyes:

Hash - a drug, illegal in many countries, made from the cannabis plant and usually smoked:xf.wink:

Thanks for sharing!
