SquadHelp - Marketplace

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
@GrantP whats is wrong with your system? I keep getting notifications on nameserver change and a threat to remove the name within 24 hours. This is a name that is properly pointed to sh. I can't even verify the nameserver manually from my dashboard(DNS MISSING ERRO) and your support staff can't solve the problem. Check Crunchest.com. Thank you

The site is going down intermittently from yesterday. Not sure if the SH people are aware of these outages.

Update: Jessica at SH resolved the issue.

@GrantP I have 2 names that were accepted upon second review. They were getting ready to go live, then stayed there for days. Support can’t tell me why. Then last night support tells me they went to rejected, probably because the names were not available to register in the end. But Whois shows both names registered 3 days ago and pointing to SH nameservers. What gives? Please help! @GrantP your attention appreciated

@GrantP I am still waiting for a response from support. Could you please explain.

It appears SH has been down for several hours. Reliability / stability are critical to domain sales. Hopefully the problem is fixed soon and does not recur.

***Update -- ok, it's back online ***

From today's Intercom news message:
Squadhelp said:
More importantly, many sellers use this information for their outbound Marketing efforts. For example, if you own a Domain Acme.com, and you see that a company holds a Trademark for AcmeCorp, it is likely that they would be interested in acquiring your domain name.
Bad, bad advice, Squadhelp. You need to consult an IP lawyer before giving such ideas to your sellers.

Combined with the fact that you already have some trademarked domains in your inventory, that may not end well.

I think what he is saying if your name is more generic than what the TM holder has protected, then you are in good position.

If someone has TM-ed "Pristine Spring Water" and you own "Spring Water" you shouldn't have any TM issues, but you have a potential client there, as they already see value even in a longer string.

can anyone confirm this...

If our submitted name is accepted for very less price than what our asking price...

we can reject...right ?

is there any communication point for this scenario...to discuss middle ground for pricing...and reasons behind the asking price.

This is definitely needed...

please, no review option...that is just name sake and they will respond after months...

And if we reject...the coins used still remains used...right?

I dont think we can expect much from SH here,,,seeing coins and the monetisation.

just wanted to confirm. @GrantP

thanks,
Ravi.

Quote from BrandPa Staff - " Brandpa has been especially wary of keeping your sales % as high as possible. we stopped accepting any new sellers months ago, and won’t start again until we believe we can handle more domains without a drop in sales rates "

I hope Squad also recognizes the result of diluting to fast, if sales rates slow, sellers seek alternatives.

I think they have. I went from a 20% approval rate to a 100% rejection rate in the past month or so. :-P

I have got 5 names with squadhelp and they have been on there for roughly 3 months now. 2500 views and 80 shortlists but no sales or enquiries. I'm beginning to think these are mostly bots. I thought that when someone shortlists a name, it means they are thinking about it, but 80 seems a lot without even an enquiry or sale. Is anyone else having the same ?

shortlists doesn't result to a sale...atleast it is not a criteria...

what you mean by enquiries ?

if there is any chance of enquiry...it is in form make offer prices..

if you have only 5 names...you are not allowed to set any names under make offer...so

i don't know what you mean by enquiries...

and by the way i have 15 names listed there and no sale yet

thanks,
Ravi

You will see offers only when you set some of your names at make offer....

And to do that you need minimum 10 names in premium listings...

So you will see no offers but only views then shortlists....
Both these are not close actions to give a sale...

But if we have some offers (if you are eligible to list names at make offer) then we can say they can turn into a sale...some possibilities there.

Just wanted to say that.

Good luck

The last name I sold on Squadhelp had 2130 views before it was purchased. One of my currently listed names has been shortlisted 167 times without selling. However, I have also had a name sell before it even had a logo created, so you never know. It can drive you a little crazy if you worry too much about those dashboard stats. I just try to be confident that if my names are good, they will sell eventually. Best of luck to you all.

2 of mine have really bad logo's so asked them to change them. They told me to put in a review on the request button which I did, but that was a month ago and still no change of logo grrrr

Would be great to see SH bring in some real graphic designers for the logos

i respect your opinion, but I thought I would share mine as I'm pleased with over 80% of the logo's and increase in effort/innovation. especially considering they are free. and completed in a fraction of the time vrs other sites.
