I've been spending a little time reviewing the brand Catchy.com who advertises here on NamePros. They're headquartered in France and seem to have a good presentation. They say in their add; "catchy domains for lease"

First off, what's a "catchy domain"? Hell if I know, but I know one when I see one. "Catchy" domains require a sense of humor, something that seems to be lacking in the world today:xf.frown:

I believe I have a few "catchy" domains, two of which I reg'd in the last 48 hours, and neither of which have been registered before.

The first one I registered is; LakeCatchy(.)com. If you don't see the humor here I'm really sorry, but "Lake Catchy" has got to be the best name of any fishing hole in the world.

Moving on, while meeting with some friends earlier, I thought of a flea market as I rounded a corner headed for home. So what should POP into my pea brain, but CornerFlea.com. I don't know if you have flea markets where you are, but could you imagine a national chain of "Corner Flea" markets selling things from all over the world? Can anyone even begin to imagine how that might be accomplished? They could even sell fresh fish from Lake Catchy that are shipped overnight to a corner near you:xf.grin:

Do you have any "Catchy" domains? Share them with us and the story behind them. Thanks(y)

Rich, there are some free online logo-making tools that do a decent job. I've used logaster.com in the past, but there are others. Very little technical competence required! Some of them try to make you pay a fee before downloading the logos, but not all.

Funny, have used sites like that for years on numerous projects, just too dimwitted to see this side of the opportunity. Double thanks for such a potent reminder, since NOTHING touches human emotions like images. Thanks to you, thinking of gorgeous natural backgrounds ... with nice logos for each name. Best wishes to you!

Wow Bernd....you gotta be a fun guy. Anyone who puts the name of the company they work for as, (quit) gets my vote. The fact that you own 9,600 domains is amazing and I just luv your "information" link here on NP. I see you've been at this for 10+ years, so no telling how many quirky ideas have run through your brain. And by "quirky", I mean "catchy":xf.wink: Do names sometimes just POP in your head out of thin air? It happens to me all the time.

Can I assume you're German? Most Germans I know don't have a sense of humor.....you must have got it all, or you're part Jew:xf.grin: I can say that 'cause I'm 1/4 Jewish, and the best comedians in America are Jewish.....my middle name is Benjamin, named after my grandfather Benjamin Goldstein.

Thanks for posting Bernd, and when I get to Germany someday, we'll have a laugh:ROFL: together.

Funny...i just hand reg'd GoGoGelato.com, and I need someone who can do that name justice. When traveling through Italy in 2003, beautiful Gelato was everywhere. The colors and displays were as mouth watering as anything I've ever seen. Go Go Gelato with the three G's is pretty "catchy" in my opinion, and I'm actually looking into trademarking it here in the US.

Also finding split domains (a/k/a cracked or Pre-tld's), ie: N.aturally.com, s.hortcuts.com, and a few others.
Your "funkyspunky" is funny but imagine that SneekyGeeky might sell first. Have to confess we'd also want "SneakyGeeky" to allow for people misspelling it accidentally, ey? :) Cheers

Thanks for your nice reply @ThatNameGuy

Yes, I am German. But at first I am Bavarian. Bavarians are like Kobe cattles: self-conscious, beer-fed, tasty. There is a special rebellious and angry humour in our DNA, it can become irony and cynism. Along the Rhine Germans have humour, too. It´s more the simple happy lalala humour to sing and dance and laugh, think of Carnival. All other Germans are working, driving car and traveling to places where they meet each other again.

I must be Jewish of honor with interests like domains, stocks and art. But I do not have Jewish ancestry, not that I knew. There was a time where either the Jewish memory was extinct or ... Well I don´t even dare to continue writing in this humour thread, 75 years after.

Do names sometimes just POP in your head out of thin air? It happens to me all the time.
Yes, it does. It must be a bad disease.

Hoping @Blitzpotz , @ThatNameGuy and/or other people familiar w German use of internet might offer opinions of my ideas on .work domains unlikely to appeal to Americans, ie: kredit.work, kasino.work, kreditkarte.work

Idea is to build them first, give them a couple of hundred backlinks from some of our other sites that've been functional & high on search engines for 5 to 15 yrs, THEN sell them afterwards. In your opinion, would the increase in value suffice to justify the hours of effort to build & upload them?

Many thanks

I have never seen .work at work in Germany. We are familiar with our .de, like the .com, sometimes the .net and know .org for benefit items, sports etc.

Germans do not use the word work, we say Arbeit. We say Job and Jobs all the time but this will not help you.
Kasino is outdated, if we use the word we mostly take casino but what´s the meaning with work? There is a strong legal regulation for gambling in Germany furthermore.
Kreditkarte will soon be history I suppose. Buying power is with GenX and Millennials who use smartphones with mobile payment systems.
Kredit is a very good keyword but I see no sense with dot.work. You may keep it if they don´t take impertinant renewal fees.

Other opinions? @frank-germany ?

Mitch...i really like Soothing Paws. My Kiwanis club sponsors a service dog for disabled Veterans through a group called PatriotPaws.org. Check out their website, it may give you some ideas. Gurly Girl isn't bad either, but I don't know how to monetize it:xf.frown:

A) MANY thanks for unvarnished opinion, the only kind w/ value

B) Most of the .work domains appealing most are for 3 to 10 yrs each, bought when Godaddy was selling them for $1.99, so cost wasn't a factor.

C) Most countries don't use .work much. That was the reason for buying k's of them: Not merely to seek 'redress' for the stupidity of not catching on to .com years earlier, also to lead the way. The goal is to raise the value of the tld by building many sites compliant w/ what google looks for.

Again, thank you for your obviously knowledgeable insight. It's highly valued (meaning "will read it several times" :) )

Cheers, and best wishes

Think twice. Are you the Titan making dot.work big?
I started domaining with a niche gTLD as a part of a big group with an own forum. Lost time, opportunity and money because I was blind of the idea to successfully compete against mainstream (.com) and tech innovation (apps).

the stupidity of not catching on to .com years earlier
It´s not stupid, it´s everybody´s personal timeline. I believe that 999 of 1,000 Namepros members did not register their first (good) .com in 1996 or earlier. We are sitting in the same boat as we say in German and enjoy the grace of learning. It doesn´t matter if you switched to .com in 2008 or in 2018. In 2028 they will have similar discussions in this forum that will be a holographic meeting point then.
Look for the most successful domainers, they are not easy to find as they usually don´t show off with Hey, I own ...thousand domains, Hey I sold Iamthegratest.me for $$$$.

And never lose faith and belief. (Amen?)
