about to buy a domain name after learning and reading a lot of things at namepros. I decided that i won't buy domain names other than .com extension. Then after reading those sales report of @Nikul Sanghvi. Decided .co can be a good choice. So, now i have a weed related .co and and bet related .com . What should i go for ?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The fundamental distinction is that .COM area is perceived as the most famous area expansion, while .CO is a ccTLD which can be a decent option for a worldwide universal site area name in light of the fact that the greater part of the .COM area name-space is as of now taken. For a western group of spectators, a to some degree better decision is.

The problem with that thinking, which is basically factual, is you are lumped together with the rest of the spanish speaking columbian domains. You need LLL or extremely premium domains. Nothing else sells. So you need to convince the worldwide buyers of this strategy. And how do you propose doing that? Posting it on NP, won't cut it.

Though I haven’t owned any .co domains, my experience shows how .com is much easier to sell than any of the other extensions assuming you have real, meaningful, quality domains. I have had success with .org as well. And would pick .org/.net after .com due to level of familiarity and adoption. I think those factors play a role when you or potential end users pick the desired “real estate” for your site.

Others may have different experience, but there’s no doubt in my mind about demand, type-in traffic, familiarity. etc. I would stick to very strong domains (preferably category killers) if investing outside the .com. As more sites are built in alternative extensions and adoption increases, .co might get wider demand. So it’s a long term play (over many years) w risk outside .com imo. But it might just pay off!

Best of luck whichever way you go!

Go with .com if it is a commercial site or else .co for company.

I would not suggest to go in .CO space unless its not super premium like one keyword QUOTE.CO , TAP.CO GOOD.CO LINE.CO , BEST.CO if the name is like this then i think its okay else stick with Two Words .COM
Best of luck

Hello,

I would agree with Riz. Unless it's one word English .co, I would not consider. But in general, no comparison at all. .Com all the way! If you can make money with .com already, why investing in something that you might not? Thank you for sharing.

go for both
I agree with this. Lots of starters seem interested using .co, worldwide.
Sad for high renewals for .co but here and there you can renew at 21 USD à 23 USD.
I DO NOT think that only one-words are interesting in the .co-extention. Also 2 words can be interesting : It's the quality that counts IMO.

Just like the pros in the house have spoken. King is still the best. Unless though you know your onions well which I doubt in this volatile matket.

One thing .co has been doing well of late, at least compared to new and many other alternate general purpose extensions, is promotion. Although a few links don't work, I really like their map where you can select a city or region and see some operational .co sites. If you are hoping to sell a .co locally nothing is more persuasive than to be able to point to a company down the street who is using one.

I wish all extensions did something similar. I think there are some markets for .co names, and average sales prices on NameBio support that the extension has value in many eyes, but it is certainly true that the types of names and potential markets will both be narrower. The registry holding as premium all short, unregistered names may in a way prop up prices for domain investors.

I fell in love with .CO I really like the company and think it works great for my company. At least until i can afford the .com.

its def a go to if the .com is way out of budget. I highly suggest to try and get the .com but i would redirect it to the .co honestly.

I am actually surprised that so many startup-companies are operating out of the country of Colombia...

Well, I mean it's a nice country and all, but why are there so many companies having their websites based in Bogota ?
