Progressive rock, or Prog Rock, is the arguably highest form of music in our modern age. Similar to classical music back when it was considered progressive in its time. It pushes the skill of the musician to highest level of his or her ability, but it also challenges the listener to go beyond listening to simple background music and pay attention to the actual skill. It is jazz risen to the next level.

Post your favorite prog rock tracks.

Genesis is one of the kings of prog rock. Listen to this song in its entirety:

Here is my first official contribution:

A superior band that should have made it MUCH bigger financially than they have...caught them live in Columbus Ohio on a random night out after a OSU game in early/mid 90's.

Saw them live and they are amazing. Watch the video and multiply it 100x.

Yes, I should have mentioned that...their sound live was as impressive as the recorded version...very talented. Below is another of my favorites...live shows are truly shows...Geoff Tate knows how to put on a rock opera...

Great band. This is an older song and they have excellent newer contributions that you will love.

But here's another oldie from Dream Theater. They have so much material.

Yes - "Heart of the Sunrise" is what introduced me to progressive rock. It blew my mind. Enjoy.
