Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The new logos are looking good so far. That's what I expected when SH introduced the coin system. The review time has also been reduced to 1-2 days.

i have submitted domains for review 5 days ago without using coin and they are still Pending.
and Yesterday i submitted domain using coin and they gave review within an hour.
i think SH are Strategically forcing People to use coin for getting Fast Review.

I'm fine with it as long as they continue providing good logos. I'm running out of points because of redesigns.

Today I have received email of approval one of my domains for a Basic Plus listing? What is that now... I have never received similar emails before. I am really not interested in anything less than Premium listing, since having listed domain without professional logo on brandables site doesn't make sense to me. I would rather choose DAN.
I had the same experience last week. Here's the response of their support team:

"Squadhelp will manually approve certain names that may not be a strong fit for Premium listing in our “Basic Plus (Searchable)” category. This means your Basic Plus listings - if approved - can be discovered easily and increase your chances of selling your domains!"

As I have read in SH new rules one of ways to achieve points is by writing something constructional on third party's websites such as NamePros and sending them after that email with those posts. Few days ago I have done so, but I didn't earn any coin. Maybe because I wrote that I don't like new rules and updates?

This morning I have sold my first SH domain at SquadHelp for a wholesale price, and I have been charged $5 fee by SquadHelp plus, as I have read, I will be also charged by PayPal 10% on that fee during withdrawal!? And after that my country will tax me 10% on that fee. That is to much of a commission for a wholesale prices.

BrandBucket and BrandPa don't charge you anything for bartering domains for a wholesale prices among sellers.

I must correct this. PayPal did not charged mi additional 10% fee, but before I requested payout it was written that PayPal will charge me. I don't know why that didn't happened.

If Squadhelp registers the domain, does it count as a 'normal' premium listing? So if you have 25 unregistered approved premium domains listed, does it count? Or only the owned domains count?

If I understand your question correctly, then yes. If they were approved as premium (not basic or basic plus) then they count as premium (they get a logo, they are searchable in the marketplace etc.). The main difference is that you get smaller commissions in comparison to when you register domain names yourself.

I just had 2 approved that they registered, both show as premium in my control panel, my premium count went up by 2 AND I got 100 more points added for each name.

Maybe someone can explain this to me:

I was looking at the SH wholesale market where you can buy approved, listed domains for a fraction of the price. Some of these are owned by SH as they were not registered by the current owner of the listing, rather SH registered it. Naturally the payout to the owner would be less and that is agreed upon when you submit your domain (or you let SH decide the rate).

Anyway, I noticed some payout discrepancies which confused me. Here is a capture of part of one:

sh1.png

Note that the retail or sale price is $1,599
The expected payout to you in commission is $575
The agreed rate of commission is 22.5%

However, 22.5% of $1,599 is actually $359, not $575

Am I missing something ? To me it looks like the quoted payout is much higher than it really will be.

I think there is one more possibility for this...

After aproval of the name...we still have a chance to increse the approved price for few hundred USD...it depends on the sale price...the higher approved sale price is the more you can adjust the price later...

may be you changed the price and seeing previous price commission rate ?

i think SH are Strategically forcing People to use coin for getting Fast Review.

Of course, they are forcing to pay for listings (well...for submitting to premium listings...there is no guarantee of approval)!

First I saw a notification saying you need to pay to submit.

Then within 2 days I think...they said because of all the feedback (i take it as backlash) they changed it to coins...guess what you need to purchase coins...?!

You need 25 premium listings to be able to submit more names for free...

Most of the sellers...and more and more are joining...
they all are under 25...so they need to pay to get coins.

and from my experience, I saw more rejections than acceptance...I don't mind rejections...but I see below-average names all the time on their marketplace.

Its sometimes like the reviewer is expert in some other language and doesn't have any knowledge of names / keywords / niche / category

I think its more like we reject more and more to keep saying "we accept less than 10% of submitted names" that is great if you are in starting stage...after some time when you are gaining popularity and demand you should look into expansion...

I am not asking to accept all names...

like someone already suggested giving a limit on submitting names/month...

coming to the original point you need to submit more to get more approved into premium listing >> for that you need to buy more coins with your money >> they reject most of them so the process repeats and takes time >> so you spend more...

Of course they say it is not another revenue stream...it could be believable if they changed to free submissions...instead, they used SquadHelp COINS as another path for revenue. same thing.

By the way if you take points into consideration for getting coins...it gets more complicated...still revenue generating path

And I definitely think there should be some parameter to control...as they need time to review submissions and also for logo creation.

sometimes I thought these reviewers simply clicking reject without reading any details...this way they can keep up with the flow of names and also 10% statement ;)

These are my thoughts...did i miss anything?

Thanks,
Ravi.

@vravis9 What you're missing about the expansion is that SH grew from an inventory of a few thousand domains to more than 30,000 within about a year. At a certain point, growth has to slow down and it's better for existing sellers otherwise you end up with a huge marketplace where chances of sales drop for most individual domains since they just get lost in the mix and there's a limited amount of sales that can happen.

What is the average wait time now for getting an answer from appealing rejected names?

Had 4 good names rejected when my previous submissions are on fire, have been favourited multiple times and have got a lot views......the rejected names are on par with these, do not get their reasons for rejecting good names

I agree...

It is going to happen anyway..the platform getting attention and they are spending on marketing...so they are getting eyeballs.

And the stats they are mentioning drops drastically after few years...like other platforms.

Like I said there should be a way to submit names that can be mutually beneficial for sellers and SH.

I know you are not saying that new sellers are not good....but your wording some what sounded like that...but we both know there will be expansion in all areas...even sellers...

Can't stop...

Thanks,
Ravi

@vravis9 I have nothing against new sellers or old ones. Any platform needs to continuously grow. I'm just saying that SH expanded very fast in the last year and that too much inventory isn't beneficial for sellers- old ones and new ones alike so keeping approval % low, though it can be annoying, is necessary. As for the criteria for judging what's approved and what isn't- SH is the most data oriented brandable marketplace as far as I know. To my understanding they use advanced systems that are based on years and years of contest holders picking names for their businesses, analyzing high rated entries and other data metrics. As you can see from the dashboard- they're analyzing the marketplace too on a lot of different levels. I also don't always think some names are good, but many names that I never would have thought should sell still sell. Brandables are often subjective and decisions made based on data are hard to argue with.

@SuperBrander everything you said is true...

This will happen irrespective of how good the platform is..people join...ava available names increase...
But I am talking about they are saying it's not a revenue generating method...that is not true.

And the name selection is based on data and analysis but when you rejecting all names to be in 10% acceptance rate...it doesn't make sense to anyone.

I like SH but there are many things that are questionable..

Anyways I know any platform goes through phases...hope SH correct their system to stay on high sell through track!

Thanks,
Ravi

Do prospects making an offer on a domain have to verify their email? @GrantP

@GrantP I had a premuim listed name that the nameserver was changed to pendingdelete when it entered expiry period. I had initiated a transfer to another registrar, but it was delisted from SH.

However after the transfer completed, I pointed the nameservers back to SH and it was not accepted back automatically like in other market places.

When I asked why, I was told I have to resubmit as a new request for listing which couldn't go. It only went using request to review delisting. But several days has passed without any response.

I think SH should equally work their system to automatically detect when premium domains delisted as a result of nameserver issues is corrected instead of asking for it to be a fresh submission.

Thanks

This has happened to me a couple of times. In my case, my names were delisted for not more than 2 days due to some registrars not having expedited transfers and having to wait out the 5 days for transfers. I contacted SH support and they reactivated the premium listing.

It is strange that you have to resubmit a valid premium listing. When you pick up an expired name previously listed on a brandable marketplace from the drops, other marketplaces just add it to your account after contacting them.
