Why not both? Why are they mutually exclusive?

I like Rob. And I like Elon. I liked this thread :)

Never thought I’d meet a Tesla hater in domain forum Haha. Anyway, if I was Rob, considering original OP context; both visionaries in their fields’. (Which I agree with) Why u, trying bring both down?

All that aside, I truly believe, Tesla is the future.

Another T/e/s/l/a hater here :). I remember reports of E/l/o/n being a "w/o/r/k/e/r a/b/u/s/e/r" somewhere on one of the news. And that he doesn't put up safety signs because he hates yellow.

So saying Rob is like E/l/o/n is a major insult....:ahhh:

Yes he is.

What belongs to Elon Musk I am thinking often about his eCar company. In Germany Diesel cars are increasingly polluting the air. Diesel seems to be a national question. People are buying even stronger Diesel SUVs in defiance, poltics wink at violations by German car makers against EU exhaust law. German car makers are now trying to copy Tesla regarding the electric vehicle design, what they should have done years before.

This thread is a funny one already. Thanks @Welberch

For those wanting to keep up, I am attaching a summary of Epik with an outline of our current active projects.

By the way, although I am not a huge Elon fan, I do give him props for being the front man behind a bunch of novel projects.

Funny. I am not really an Anime guy but we did just hire a Japanese anime artist for making the avatar for Toki.com.

Genius vs. Insanity is typically judged in arrears. I think Steve Jobs is one who really grasped that continuum and ended up making some trade-offs in pursuit of his ideas.

When it comes to the domain industry, one of the most interesting things to pay attention to right now is the concept of the Fediverse.

The whole Internet is going to start Federating as it Decentralizes. This is partially a response to abuse of power of the centralizing monoliths, e.g. Google, Facebook, etc.

Gab.com is an example of a Mastodon/Fediverse application. It is a sort of decentralied Facebook/Twitter. Anyone can stand such sites up. The technology is open source.

Us.Tv is another example of ActivityPub/Fediverse based on PeerTube and WebTorrent. PeerTube is also open source.

However, just as there was Linux, the commercial breakthrough came from Red Hat which productize, marketed and supported Linux.

What a lot of folks don't realize, or forgot, is that the MacOs that many of us use and love is built on OpenSource FreeBSD.

Indeed one of the great side effects of Silicon Valley's winner-take-all economic model is that a vast supply of amazing open source code is on the shelf.

I believe there is much more to come here, which is why the team at Sibyl Systems, led by @Miao will be standing up FediHost.com to offer turn-key solutions for the Fediverse.

One reason this is so interesting specifically for domain investors is that people are going to be able to build everything on their own domains.

The upcoming project called Toki.com being incubated by @Taylor Ervin will do the same. Federated Smart Transactional Search with Portable Identity. Details to follow.

I would be remiss to not acknowledge that Epik is blessed with some clever and diligent people. I look forward to acknowledging their work as we go along.

It’s refreshing to see CEO open, accessible like this.

Rob, particularly, i'm rlly excited about TrustRatings.

CEO of Epik.com, folks. Namepro members, get some cheapest .com prices, love this model, thanks!

We all know, this is a relationship-based business... little things matter. Thanks, for NOT hiking up .com rates $15+ like other big players... little things matter

No, I don’t work for Epik.

Wait till something actually comes to fruition.

Gab is just another hate site, dime a dozen on the internet.

US.tv is a video sharing site, dime a dozen on the internet. It has 37 uploads last 24 hours. That's not even 2 uploads an hour. Some talking about some other video sharing site, some Chinese stuff, some white girls saying the n word.

Discounts are great, $5.49 for a .com great. It's great when Dynadot has $5.99 .coms for a whole month. GoDaddy's $1 coupons were great back in the day.

A lot of projects going all at once. Might be spreading oneself too thin. Finish one up completely first.

Not really seeing anything innovative.

What is good is participation, changing things (bugs) once it's brought to your attention etc. He's got that part down. Probably would be even better if the side show stuff wasn't touched, stick to business.

Are you a fan of all three?
Are you stating there is a similarity between them?

To be fair, Epik.com is a pretty mature product, as are Anonymize.com, BitMitigate.com and Sibyl.Li. Us.Tv fully works.

FullVenue.com had its first pilot last week with live bookings while we work out some of the further details on branding and marketing copy.

The point is that we are actively supporting and maintaining the core Epik product with the majority of our attention. However, we are also co-creating solutions for problems.

And yes, we are listening and improving in close to real-time. The user community, in NamePros and beyond, have been awesome with the feedback. It helps a ton.

I never said it didn't, I said there is not much going on there. There are already all kinds of YouTube alternatives. How do you plan to differentiate yourself? What are you bringing to the table that the others aren't? I just picked a random one - https://d.tube/

That one looks like it has more going on, yours looks like something I can get on Themeforest for Wordpress.

Thanks @Xabial.

TrustRatings.com is still in development but moving swiftly with 2 dedicated developers and a project manager who will also oversee some related ecosystem projects as they move from the lab stage to the development stage.

As for domain pricing, I think we'll stay aggressive on .COM pricing but also pass along deep savings from registry deals, e.g. as we did with $0.99 .CO in July that has delivered a lot of ROI for a number of folks.

As for tech, if it can be free, it will be free, e.g. free SSL, free Anycast DNS, free basic Wordpress, free SEO domain landers, and free worldwide fast Content Delivery Network are all examples of technology that we can make available for free or near-free.

Key for us is to keep our Operating Expenses down so that we can provide great value for money for our clients, while getting very good at supply chain and process automation so that value for money improves as we scale.

Us.Tv is in position for the accelerating YouTube purge. You can buy a Us.Tv domain on Epik today, and then run your own video channel on your own domain and still be in the PeerTube federation for easy of searching and sharing. The missing ingredient is a few large channels moving from YouTube.

It is good to be back in the Epik saddle -- I came back last August and have enjoyed having the engineering teams reporting into me. At the core I have always been a product development junkie, and I am delighted with how the various engineering teams are executing, cross-training and inter-operating.

The point is that we are creating more tools to make more domains useful. I tried to get the gTLD registries to do this with us, and to sell their domains as Forever domains, e.g. get a .VIDEO from Donuts and be instantly online with a PeerTube channel - Forever. I believe the registry operators will eventually realize I was right about this.
