Greetings all.
I was in this game 3yrs ago, registered few names that never sold and then I quit same year. Few weeks ago, am back but this time to stay and learn the ropes and learn more and more.
In these few weeks, I have read so many great advice here but surprisingly am also thrown into more confusion lol
First off, I have read about quality over quantity for beginners. Sounds really good yea? However, am stuck with this single advice. I come in on a low budget, I intend to start small and gradually up my game and increase my portfolio with quality names. But again, am not able to get quality names from expired domains since in one part of my head, good expired names r already snapped. So leaves me with one choice to participate in quality names auction but again my budget doesn't allow me compete.
I have made an attempt to hand reg two names and picked few from expired domains. I have reg about only 8names while I continue in my research
I have registered below names to test the waters while I continue to explore ways to make me grounded in this.

Chillyhemp/king (bought out of the knowledge of a growing cannabis market)

Soundproofroof/king (built around businesses in roofing profession)

Westwoodchildcare/king (strictly for care givers)

Dallasbestplumbing/king ( plumbing industry)

Exspeakers/king (electronics:external speakers)

....and a few others.

Am carefully trying to monitor my progress too as I intend to make domaining a lifelong experience.

Am happy to be here and learn from the bunch of knowledge. Pls teach me all I need to know.

Hello @austinemarks .. and welcome to NamePros! :)

I personally like closeout domains when trying to get good value. But the key is to be patient and not to buy domains simply to buy domains. You need to wait until you find extremely good domains at really low prices. It's not as easy as it sounds. Definitely take some time to learn as much as you can before spending too much!

Best of luck to you going forward! :)

@Ategy.com I will surely bear this in mind. I suppose closeout are exclusive to godaddy

Hello!

As you have wisely learned from your first attempts at domaining it can be a bit difficult to acquire quality names that are likely re-sellable.

Read through the various " names sold threads " on NamePros and see what has sold, read the DN Journal for recent sales and, check out sales of niches or names that interest you on NameBio.

Welcome to NamePros!

There is a lot to learn here. By taking it one step at a time, it won't be overwhelming and you will be relaxed and learn more and more and more (and soon be successful).

re: " But again, am not able to get quality names from expired domains since in one part of my head, good expired names r already snapped."

There are times when we didn't get a name we liked and times when we get the name we liked. Keep on staying in the game and over time you will see yourself getting more and more smart in the game. Trust your instinct, your intuition.

Oh, and there are times when we are not sure we like it or not and something says YES, buy it. There are a variety of experiences. Paying attention to them is teaching us more. You will get smarter and smarter at doing this.
