Every day, Epik is dropping more and more domains.

For many TLDs, on day 36 of expiry, we send names through a Snapnames expiry auction. The minimum bid there is $79 which is high for some domains.

On Day 43 of expiry, the last day before we delete names, we do a reverse auction with the final price of domains dropping all the way down to $9 plus the renewal cost.

Every day we see great names get picked up for peanuts. Last night DrugAddiction.Co went for $9 plus reg fee, for example.

You can check out the daily inventory here:

https://marketplace.epik.com/daily-diamonds

The Epik.com team will post in this thread about particularly insane bargains that you might want to know about.

Also, for NamePros members, we have dropped the Backorder fee all the way down to $8.49. So, if you want to backorder at Epik, you can still get a non-exclusive but no-auction backorder for reg fee. For premium domains, the renewal fee is added to the backorder fee, but for a .COM, $8.49 is the all-in refundable backorder deposit.

So, follow this thread and we'll drop some backordering nuggets here.

Well I just got some awesome news.

Today I was able to successfully snag a domain using the Epik backorder system I've been watching. I needed this domain to complete a set. Yeah!

Now I have both spellings of color.

TBH I never backorder before, just curios to know what happens if I backorder non-premium domain and suddenly its become premium when available?

That great information you have shared thanks, Any chance you could share the list of the domains you were watching I would be really curious to see if the 31.5 % caught were popular names that Epik were competing with the likes of Dropcatch and Snapnames for?

Good idea but no chance, old data is deleted.

It would be much more revealing to analyze the old droplists in this thread. How many % are taken from the whole inventory, which registrars have been successful, how many % dropped, how many of these have been taken within 24 hours etc. I cannot do that.
Anybody knows if such work already does exist? Should be interesting for every domainer.

But what I can do is post my watchlist from todays drops, results are not yet published. Then you can compare yourself, too.
bikeswork.com bitforbit.com dailymarie.com
dieimmobilien.com eigenbedarf.com fashier.com
gingermoon.com graffitistop.com jijita.com

My current rate is 6 out of 36 which is exactly 1/6th or 16.67%

I'm guessing I pick more difficult names to get which of course makes perfect sense.

Interesting... I was doing my normal thing which is testing my new system/app and I came upon a nice deleting 5 letter dot com domain. I went ahead and backordered it with Epik and waited. It just stayed in progress even after the drop??? But No.

Turns out I had missed backordering the drop in time and the domain wasn't caught by anyone. So I canceled the backorder and just regged it normal for less. I'll take that any day.

Hello Brad,

Sorry for the experience you had.
Backorders have to be placed before 11:40 MST Time (5-10 minutes before the drop) because our software picks them at that time..
If you have any other question or feedback, I will be happy to help :)

Gube,

So far I am at 0% caught (I am not including any names where I was position 2 or higher).
I'll keep trying and will update when/if I catch one or once I reach 20 attempts, whichever comes first.

So today could be a great day for me with the backorders.

I caught 1 of 4 but that one is the one I was really interested in because I might be able to flip it quick for an excellent ROI :)

Oh just thought I'd post a strong wish :)

Since I'm a bit OCD it kinda stresses me out that all the dropped domains that are caught come into the list ALL CAPS - UGH!

Please can you make them at least all lowercase? Please!!!

You must be reading my mind :)
My goal has always been to keep it simple, but with as many features as possible.
And since my costs are relatively low (I already had the server running and a domain only costs 5.99$), I should be able to make it free :)
Compared to an Excel file, A website is a lot easier to use (Apply search filters, Register/backorder in one click, ..) The main advantage, I think, is the ability to check domain availability (in bulk) in real time
My ultimate objective is to build a game changer

I got my second weekly drop email and something didn't seem right.

The first was dated (09/01/2019 - 09/08/2019) & the second was dated (09/08/2019 - 09/15/2019). Sure enough they overlapped. The domains on the 8th were being included in both summaries so the numbers are off.

That would seem to be a fairly minor issue but when I looked closer, I also see 4 different domains that are in limbo and never completed.

It appears as if they dropped and I missed them but the status never changed and my funds haven't been refunded.

I know that's a temporary situation and will likely be corrected soon (hint hint), but I'd like to have those funds available so I can use it to backorder or reg some other domains.

First week: 4 out of 27 = 14.8%
Second week*:
1. 4 out of 22 = 18.2%
2. 4 out of 26 = 15.4%

In limbo: 4 domains (all 09/09/2019)
In process: 6 domains

27 + 22 + 4 + 6 = 59 domains

* corrected for overlap & in limbo - on the 8th I got 2 out of 6 which were listed on both email summaries. All 4 domains in limbo were backordered on the 9th.

Other than those 2 issues my stats were about the same 14.8% vs. 15.4%.

Hello,

Thanks for the feedback.
I will check for the Backorder weekly report email :)

Gube,
Yes of course. My concern and reason for posting this was if I canceled them they'd be removed and the cause of the issue could be overlooked. And I could easily miss them and think they'd drop.

Also, I made a mistake in my earlier post. Only 2 of the in limbo domains were backordered on the 9th. My eyes must be playing tricks on me again :)

They were all dot org domains though.
