So I wanted to create a website...
I went to a large well known registrar to create a website for selling my domains. I paid like a 100 dollars and all was going fine until I discovered that I did not have the option of using keywords, just pre-populated phrases that were very generic-- I declined at this point, I created sites before and received good traffic from keywords, so is this the new normal or just foolishness on their part. Thanks...

Sounds to me like you might be using some sort of cookie cutter website builder that limits your ability to customize your site the way you want to. There are many other solutions out there that will let you specify your own keywords. Perhaps you should try using a traditional hosting account that allows you to upload your own web pages or use a solution similar to wordpress. Now with that said, search engines are much more sophisticated these days as well and don't rely exclusively on what you specify the keywords are. Modern search engines also look at your content to see what subject matter appears most. Search engines love original content and pages that are updated on a regular basis and often prioritizes them over others. SEO is an ever evolving animal.

Appreciate the input--makes sense, will try that. BTW, you were right about the "Cookie-cutter thing-- it did work once before, but as you say, SEO is evolving. Thanks again.
