Hi,

I registered MadeOfHemp.com in 1998 and have been holding on to it in anticipation of
Hemp becoming legal in the US. Well, that day finally came.

I am looking to sell this to a huge Hemp company who can afford to pay a 7 figure price.

I would appreciate any suggestions on the best way to market it for a high price sale.
I believe this will make a great asset for the right company.

I tried listing it on ebay but they wouldn't let me list it for over $25,000 even though
I see domains listed there for $21,000,000??

Thanks.

Lovely domain.

Don't waste your time on Ebay.

Start an Epik.com account and list it there with 5 year payment plan with 33% down.

Congratulations on a great domain. What is your asking price btw?

Thank you for your reply Dan, will check out Epik.
I believe $6,000,000 is reasonable to the right company??

How many offers have you received for the Domain name in recent years and how much were they?

You can transfer the domain there so you can have them handle the Escrow, it's flawless.

Unfortunately that price is too high, realistically a $60,000 sale would be a home-run. You can try pricing it more aggressively if you want to get a sale within the next 12 months. I'm not saying you wouldn't get lucky with a $6mm sale, but you will likely wait a decade or start your own company that has a good market share using the domain.

Same question as Gabriel, have you had any offers on the name?

I haven't marketed it much so haven't received any offers.

I agree that without a site or traffic $6,000,000 is quite high but to the right company... maybe??

I'm certainly not set on that. I'm thinking start high so I can negotiate down??

The fact that you are willing to 'think big' and fix a BIN of $6M on a name you've held for 21 years without a single offer is a commendable act of courage. But you might want to bring down the price drastically if you intend to sell it within the next decade.

The name is a three-word domain that looks more like an Ad caption than a brand name. I reckon it's worth a lot less than you have in mind. Way LESS!!!.

But then again, this is the domain sphere - Magical things do happen. Once. In. A. Blue. Moon.

Goodluck!

Thanks for your input. That's why I started this discussion, I am very open
minded and not set on anything. I may just build a site on it and start selling Hemp Products??

Also, most products that are "made of hemp" say exactly that on them.

@thinkbig you Thinkbig which I respect. Being humble is a great trait also. The lesson all around the forum is more exposure the better. List everywhere and those domains that have great demand will attract many offers. I wish you success. And if you want WearitHemp.com for 250$ PM me

Seems this domain registered on 2004 not in 1998..

1998 you didn't get domains like hemp.com , cbd.com, 3L.com ?

Taking into consideration the domain age and 3 word, the domain name is pretty decent but the price of $6mn is way too much.

As said by @premkumar, for Domains like "Hemp.com" that would also had been much tough but not impossible.

i don't mean to demoralize you but i think you need to be little bit pratical in terms of pricing if want to get a quick sale.

If that would had been "HEMP.COM", WEED,COM or CBD.com then your pricing would have been little closer or can be expected to materialize soon.

But keep trying buddy..All the Best :)

After reading this I think I will remove my VettedHemp.com from SH which I registered recently and it's listed for $1799 and hold it for few years.

I believe 2004 is when it got transferred to GoDaddy. It was registered before then with a registrar who is no longer in business. The records could be incorrect? Believe me ... if Hemp.com or Weed.com were available I would have jumped on them!!

My dear friend,

It may would have been regged 1st in 1998 but since it was transferred or updated on 2004, hence for domain selling purpose technically it will be counted from 2004.

I also have some domains which were 1st regged before 2000 but after that it exchanged many hands.

I hope u got it wat i am trying to convey. It would be better if u do not misrepresent the facts else it would impact your final sale (most probably the 7 figure which you are aiming at). You may quote that this domain was 1st regged in 1998, something like this 😊

Nice domain, I think you should hold on to it for a good Inbound offer.

At a $6M asking price, methinks your talk-down journey will be a long one...just saying.

If you got 7 figures to spend, you can get some nice names, take a name like LA.com sold for $1.2M, which has income potential across many niches, you can actually build a business on it, or just suck the traffic from it. Names like digital.com, true.com sold in the $300-400K range etc... Now we come to MadeOfHemp.com $6M ask? nil traffic, no real business platform advantage? You need to be realistic, if you get offered $25K, take it.
