When people on Namepros are listing "Brandable" names for sale in the Buy Domains section should they declare as a matter of course that these names have been submitted to the Brandable sites (BrandBucket, SquadHelp, Brandpa, Brandroot, Namerific etc) and have been rejected? (If this is the case)

Personally I think you should say which sites you have submitted them to and if they have been rejected, alternatively if you have not submitted the name/s to any site then this should be stated.

This would help when scanning through multiple Brandable threads and save time having to message the person asking if they have submitted these names before. It would also save the seller time having to answer the same question multiple times.

It also makes the sales process that much more transparent.

Simple case of listing the sites and putting next to them something like the below (or something similar :xf.smile:)

  • BrandBucket - submitted - rejected
  • SquadHelp - not submitted
  • Brandpa - not submitted
  • Brandroot - submitted - rejected
  • Namerific - not submitted
  • Have not submitted name to any Brandable site

What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Not necessarily, Brandable domain does not define by brandable marketplace (BB,SH,BP).

But i ask sometimes if it been submitted to marketplace.

It always better to ask.

That is why one of the options could be "not submitted to any marketplace"

If i say my domain is rejected at brandable marketplace, buyer will always assume the domain is of lower quality. Why should i do that?

Why should a buyer have to ask the question? It looks like the seller is trying to hide the fact that the name has been rejected and is not confident in the name and looking to get rid of it. I can find out by asking them in DM but then I would be the only one who know this.

If you are fairly new and see a Brandable name for sale your might not ask this question, you buy a name thinking you can list it at one of these sites and then get told it has already been rejected. IMO this is not good business practice, you should be transparent.

You can buy Brandables that have been rejected on these sites and list them on DAN, Afternic etc but I think you should have all the info listed so you make an informed decision on what your selling options will be after the purchase on Namepros

This is a good question as I've wondered it myself. I think if potential buyer wants to know they should ask in PM. Seller, as a courtesy, should disclose if asked but volunteering the info is prejudicing own sale.

I don't feel there is any need to disclose a marketplace rejection. By having to disclose a rejection you are putting too much emphasis on an opinionated marketplace decision made by a few individuals.

We have already heard reports of rejection and soon after a new owner is accepted. Marketplace rejections are arbitrary and has no bearing on the true value of a particular domain.

Although, obviously, if asked, an honest answer is needed.

Ask yourself, where will 'rules' like this end? We may as well be asking to list every end-user someone reached out to.

And how would you know if the previous owner(s) have not submitted the name?

I tend to go by the saying "a man (woman) is only as good as his (her) word"

If this is not the case I wont do business with them again and make sure I posted the case study on Namepros 😉.

What's the point? Do you think the only way to make a sale is relying on these "brandable marketplaces"? Does it not being accepted, mean it's not valuable?

simple... no need to disclose off the bat.

If the buyer wants or needs to know.. then the seller should provide that info in private if need be..

Personally I don't care, but it's the buyer's right also to know details about what he / she is buying.

That is not what I meant. The seller might be a new owner, especially given that these platforms exist for years now, there is a big chance that those names have been looked at by the marketplaces.

Another thing: I have sold BB reject for $12,500 net. I had many BB rejects accepted by BR and sold at higher rates than BB. I had many BB, BR rejects accepted by BP and sold at much better rates than BB/BR sell through. SH apparently has much different taste in names. And, lots of rejects by all four sell fine at Afternic or inbound.

No. Some random third party website does not determine the value of a domain.

No need. It is the buyer's concern to lookout what he/she is buying and how potential are the domain names.

Best to assume if it’s not marketed as accepted at blah blah it has NOT been accepted.

Large amount of brandables are submitted to each market. I can’t tell you how many names I got on the drop that were submitted and rejected somewhere.People only want accepted somewhere names.

People playing the brandable game tend to take the marketplace word as gospel.

I ask for a review and nine times out of ten they have accepted the name after a review.

It does not mean that, I have had BrandBucket names rejected that sold for more than what BrandBucket most likely would have listed them.

I do as a courtesy post if a name has been accepted or rejected but don't think it needs to be a requirement.

I feel that this same premise could also be applied to geo domains, and whether they have been included in outbound email campaigns. Whenever I buy a brandable domain, I assume it has been submitted to the brandable sites already.

I have so far not tried any of the brandable marketplaces. As information can someone tell me if a name is submitted and rejected by one of the marketplaces, and then say a year later someone else submits the same name to the same marketplace, do they keep records and it is automatically rejected, or is it reconsidered and sometimes the decision is different (either because it is an inexact process or because branding trends have changed slightly, for example). Thanks.

You can always resubmit Bob, there needs to be some timeframe but a year later you can resubmit at BrandBucket and not guaranteed to get rejected again.
