Had to post this as I'm loving it. I hold my kids name as well so thought this is pretty cool news:
The domain name Sophie.com has changed hands, and two top notch domain investors were involved in the trade.

Happy father, Andy Booth, named his newborn daughter Sophie, all while the aged dot .com domain is now 21 years old.

Strangely but luckily, Sophie.com has been in the possession of Andrew Rosener, founder of Media Options.

The ever-busy domainer and the ecstatic dad forged a deal and the domain changed hands. It already has a landing page!

I have my 1 year old daughter's name in our ccTLD and I never thought about selling it. But now that I read this, I googled her name and found a 200 million market cap Australian company whose shares are at an all-time high sharing her name. Right at the top of the results.

Now I'm thinking why on earth haven't they regged this name? They are using a long tail .com

Buying a domain you love & value will help to keep it that long without dropping it.

You can offer entire relatives

First name @ surname. Com

Email addresses

But I can't be bothered to lol

True indeed. I have my eyes on my surname.com but the person owning it just redirects the SURNAME.COM to an about.me page :/

TOTALLY WASTE OF DOMAIN NAME!!! and then I settled with the .co of my surname.

I use [email protected], own last.com but it's redirected to last.ch

Also I own amar.us for my first name (from 2013 til 2023). But I don't use it.

Many people say having first name surname. Com is good but

first name @ surname. Com

Is much better than

First name surname. Com

Because a person would have to have something like

Info @ first name surname. Com

But when you own

First name @surname. Com

Your first name@ is better than

Info@

Etc

It just becomes a bit more expensive if your surname is already owned etc
